This year has been a landmark one for Lauren Gottlieb. After marrying Tobias Jones in June, the ABCD actress will soon be moving into her new apartment in Andheri. Although she relocated to London after the wedding, Lauren plans to spend more time in Mumbai as she rebuilds her career here.
Reflecting on the shift, she shares, “I came to Mumbai earlier this year for my dance tour and to choreograph for a music video, and the moment I landed, my heart said, ‘You’re home.’ A few months later, I’m standing in my own home. The support I have received has been overwhelming. My friends, family, team, staff, and many long-standing industry relationships helped me rebuild my life here. I am excited to have my own home in Mumbai. I’m also experiencing an abundance of opportunities flowing in.”
‘I’m working with a designer to craft a space that reflects who I am’
Lauren marked the beginning of this new chapter with a puja at her home. “The interiors aren’t done yet, but it was important to me to begin with a grahpravesh puja. Now, I’m working with a designer to craft a space that truly reflects who I am. Somewhere along the way, I feel the world has become a bit too muted — interiors, buildings, even cars have lost the vibrancy they once had. So I’m intentionally bringing colour back into my life through the space I’m creating. It will have rich tones, layered textures, art, plants — everything that feels alive.”
‘It just felt like the right time to put down roots here’
Owning a home in Mumbai had been a long-standing dream, and 2025 finally signalled the right moment. “When I spoke to Tobias about wanting to buy a home in Mumbai, he was instantly supportive. Even with the distance between us, we’re connected and always cheering each other. It just felt like the right time to put down roots here. It’s a funny coincidence - the day I got the keys to my home in Mumbai, Tobias got the keys to our new house in London. He’s been busy with his VFX work, but once he gets a break, he’ll finally experience India for the very first time.”

Actor-dancer Lauren Gottlieb, who married long-time partner, London-based creative Tobias Jones, on June 11 in Italy, admits she’s still adjusting to this new chapter in her life.
“It still feels very new. I keep stumbling and saying ‘my fiancé,’ and then I catch myself — ‘Oh wait, my husband.’ I’m getting used to the term ‘Mrs’. It’s surreal but also grounding,” she tells us.
Their love story had an unconventional start. “Everyone thinks I slid into his DMs to flirt,” she says, adding, “But I was looking to collaborate with artistes on visual effects content. I saw a video he had created and thought, ‘That’s exactly the kind of work I want to do.’”
Fate intervened when work brought Lauren to London. “I had booked not just one but two jobs there. It was meant to be,” says the 37-year-old.
It was during this time that their dynamic shifted. “It was Tobias who confessed his feelings first,” she recalls. “We were shooting something together when he took my hand and said, ‘I love you.’ I knew then that life might get more complicated — more cities, more distance — but I had always wanted real, true love.”
Her parents were initially cautious. Lauren explains, “I think they were just waiting to meet him. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone, he was unapologetically himself. Once they saw that, they were in. My parents have always said it’s going to take a very special person to be with me. I’m a lot — I’m spicy, high energy. And he gets me.”
Looking ahead, Lauren reveals plans to celebrate with friends who couldn’t attend the Italian wedding. “There is definitely going to be a party to celebrate our wedding,” she confirms. “My Indian friends couldn’t attend the wedding in Italy, which was sad. I want to do something special here.”

Lauren Gottlieb got married to fiancé Tobias Jones on June 11 in Tuscany, Italy. The ABCD actress, who was recently seen in the web show The Royals, chose Tuscany for its rich Italian culture and breathtaking beauty. Lauren’s wedding attire included a custom mermaid-style that she picked from the bridal boutique she passed every day growing up — a place where she’d dreamed of finding her wedding dress since she was a little girl. For the reception, she changed into an outfit she designed herself.
The celebration lasted three days and was attended by close family and friends, including choreographer Terence Lewis. Guests enjoyed classic Italian dishes such as handmade pasta, eggplant parmesan, and refreshing limoncello spritzes. When asked about the wedding, Lauren described it as “pure magic.”
She added, “I felt completely present and grounded, surrounded by people I love. Exchanging vows with Tobias, dancing beneath the stars, and celebrating with our families felt like a dream. The full moon that night symbolised abundance and spiritual growth for us. My dad’s heartfelt speech brought tears to everyone’s eyes. It was a celebration of love, family and joy, and I’m still amazed at how everything came together.”

Lauren Gottlieb on her engagement to boyfriend Tobias Jones
Onkar Kulkarni (BOMBAY TIMES; September 2, 2023)
“I didn’t know it would happen during our Caribbean trip, but believe me, I was ready in case it did,” says the ABCD: Any Body Can Dance actress, Lauren Gottlieb, about the sweet surprise she received from boyfriend and now fiancé Tobias Jones, who slipped a ring on her finger during their recent holiday.
It was an emotional moment for the dancer-actress seeing Tobias go down on his knees. Lauren shares, “He did such a wonderful job planning it and to see him get down on one knee was surreal. The location in Aruba was such that it made the whole scene look so dreamy. We called both of our families after the proposal and everyone was thrilled.”
Tobias, who is a video creator, and Lauren have been dating for over a year. Elaborating on how they met, she says, “We collaborate on a lot of content together. That’s actually how we first met and started working on projects, long distance. I would shoot in Los Angeles and he would edit from London. As soon as we met in person we knew this was it. I’ve slowly been moving my life to London.”
We ask if they are planning to get married anytime soon and Lauren replies, “We haven’t discussed our wedding yet. We are still in the engagement celebration mode. I’m super keen to get married, but for now I am just enjoying this phase.”
She signs off saying, "Having a partner who believes in you and is there for you no matter what is the most comforting feeling, but what is even better is that we push each other forward so we can build the best life together. I’ve shown Tobias all my songs. He was cheering for me when I performed at the 95th Academy Awards (on the award-winning song Naatu Naatu from RRR). The real challenge would be getting him to learn a Bollywood step."

The actress is taking tips from her photographer boyfriend Tobias Jones for her role

Lauren Gottlieb is now back in Bollywood after taking a brief break during which she had moved to her home in the USA. The dancer-actress, who made her showbiz beginning in India with the ABCD franchise and dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, trained in acting in the US recently.
She has now signed a venture, which has an interesting connect with her personal life. Shedding light on the development, Lauren shares, “It is a massive film and gives me an opportunity to play a role that I have wanted to for so long. It’s a family entertainer and I have shot for it in London. I had to learn the British accent to play my part.”
Lauren, who plays a photographer in the film, took some tips from her UK-based boyfriend, Tobias Jones, a photographer himself, for her role. While Lauren is known for her dancing skills, this film allows her to push herself as an actress. “I am not doing any dancing in the film. I play a photographer. It is interesting because my boyfriend is a photographer. So, I have been stealing his moves and the way he works. I also have an English accent in the film; luckily, he is British. So, I am learning that from him as well (laughs),” she says.
Talking about her return to Bollywood after her recent break, she shares, “During March this year, I started getting calls for projects from India. It reminded me of the time when I first got offers for projects in India many years ago. My career in the US was taking off (in late 2000s), when I turned to India. Now, after learning acting in the US, I am happy that work has brought me back to Mumbai.”
In an interview with Bombay Times earlier, Lauren, who was single then, had opened up about coming back to an empty home after working on a buzzing film set and how lonely that made her feel. Now that she is in a relationship, does she feel happy that she has someone to fall back on?
Lauren says, “Both of us are in such fields that we are required to travel a lot. I was just happy that two of my recent projects that rolled in London gave me the opportunity to spend time with him. This is my first relationship where my boyfriend understands my work schedule, as it is very similar to his. We have also been talking about him visiting India,” says Lauren.
When prodded about her relationship further, she shares, “Tobias and I have been together officially for a few months now. Before that, for over a year-and-a-half, we were chatting and flirting long distance. We are not rushing into anything or thinking about marriage immediately. Right now, we are enjoying the dating phase.”

The ABCD actor talks about finding love and being in a long distance relationship
Vinay MR Mishra (HINDUSTAN TIMES; August 21, 2022)
Earlier this week, actor-dancer Lauren Gottlieb made her relationship with video creator Tobias Jones Insta official. “I have never known love like this,” she gushes, adding, “It feels like coming home. I have always dreamt of having a true partner in life. We definitely found our perfect match.”
However, Gottlieb says the two are in no mood to get engaged as yet. “We are very happy and are enjoying being with each other. We’ll surely tell you when it’s meant to happen,” the 34-year-old says, adding, “Ironically, when we are out together, everyone around us calls us husband and wife!”
It was modern love for Gottlieb and Jones, as the two first interacted on Instagram in March last year. After working together for a project, the couple “tried to find any excuse to work together”, despite Gottlieb being in the USA and Jones in the United Kingdom. “TJ is the complete package! He is the perfect balance of confident, kind, caring, funny, playful, professional and hardworking,” the ABCD 2 (2015) actor shares, revealing that the two started dating in July last year and are in a long-distance relationship.
Has it been hard to find time for each other? “We are both so busy, but we take time out to see each other once a month. I’ve worked hard over the past couple of years to understand and love myself completely, so that the love of my life could match that love. Now, I have found it,” she signs off.
