THOR: RAGNAROK has emerged the ninth highest Hollywood grosser in India of all time and will finish with around 60 crore nett. The film is the second biggest HIT from Hollywood this year after FAST & FURIOUS 8 which grossed 86.79 crore nett. THOR: RAGNAROK was released on 3rd November and collected around 40.50 crore nett in Week 1. It has done well to add around 50% business to its first week total.

The film also edged out SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING which grossed nearly 58 crore nett when it was released in July earlier this year. THE JUNGLE BOOK is the highest grossing Hollywood film of all time in India and even with adjusted figures for ticket inflation it comes out ahead of that other huge Hollywood blockbuster in India, TITANIC. Below are top ten nett grossers from Hollywood in India.
1. The Jungle Book (2016) - 187.74 crore
2. Fast & Furious 7 (2015) - 97.86 crore

THOR: RAGNAROK remained the best collecting film despite being in its second weekend although QARIB QARIB SINGLLE did manage to give it competition on Saturday and Sunday. The film grossed around 9.50 crore nett in its second weekend and now collections stand at close to 50 crore nett in ten days. The film has chances to be the second highest grossing Hollywood film of 2017. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Week One - 40,30,00,000
Friday - 2,00,00,000
Saturday - 3,50,00,000
Sunday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 9,50,00,000 aprx
TOTAL - 49,80,000,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ grossed around 3.50 crore nett in its second weekend to take its ten day collection to 24.25 crore nett. The genre finds it hard to survive for too long and that has also happened here. The lifetime business of the film will be around 27 crore nett. The film has done half the business of THOR: RAGNAROK which was released on the same day. The collections of ITTEFAQ till date are as follows.
Week One - 20,89,00,000
Friday - 75,00,000
Saturday - 1,25,00,000
Sunday - 1,40,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 3,40,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 24,29,00,000 apprx

THOR: RAGNAROK continued to lead the box office with collections of 2 crore nett apprx taking its total to 42 crore nett plus. The film is the highest collecting film in week two also as it beat the new Hindi releases easily collecting more than the best Hindi film QARIB QARIB SINGLLE. The film could challenge the figures of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING which were around 57 crore nett and that film is the second highest grossing Hollywood film in 2017. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Week One - 40,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 42,00,000,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ had a so so second Friday with collections of 75 lakhs nett. The collections are down but could have been worse and was probably helped by weak new releases. The total so far is around 22.25 crore nett in eight days and there is an outside chance the film could reach 30 crore nett though a lot depends on the next two days. The collections of ITTEFAQ till date are as follows.
Week One - 21,50,00,000 apprx
Friday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 22,25,00,000

THOR: RAGNAROK had its first major drop on Tuesday with collections down around 20% from the previous day. The film still has a very good 35 crore nett on the board in five days but now the week will probably settle at around 40 crore nett plus and its unlikely to challenge the collections of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING but is still emerge the third highest grossing film in Hollywood this year. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,25,00,000
Sunday - 10,50,00,000
Monday - 4,25,00,000
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000
TOTAL - 35,00,00,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ is showing normal weekday trending but the problem is that these content sort of films which do not open that well have to do better than normal trend post the weekend. The low business in Delhi NCR has meant that even the metros have not contributed as they should with the shortfall coming from Delhi NCR. The first week is heading for a 21.50 crore nett total. The first five day collections of ITTEFAQ are as follows.
Friday - 3,80,00,000
Saturday - 5,25,00,000
Sunday - 6,00,00,000
Monday - 2,00,00,000
Tuesday - 1,75,00,000
TOTAL - 18,80,00,000 apprx

THOR: RAGNAROK held well on Monday with collections of 4 crore nett plus to takes it four day total to 31.75 crore nett. The first week should be in the 42-43 crore nett range and it will comfortably cross the 40 crore nett range and maybe even 60 crore nett. The film could challenge the figures of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. The last THOR film had grossed just 17.50 crore nett and here it will be more than double in one week. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,25,00,000
Sunday - 10,50,00,000
Monday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 31,75,00,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ also had a reasonable hold on Monday as it dropped 45% from Friday to collect around the 2 crore nett but for these content type of films you have to do better than the normal Monday trend. The business of the film is 17 crore nett in four days and will go to around 22 crore nett in the first week. The first week will not be good but its not that bad also but the problem is whether it can go on after the first week as appreciation is very limited. The first four day collections of ITTEFAQ are as follows.
Friday - 3,80,00,000
Saturday - 5,25,00,000
Sunday - 6,00,00,000
Monday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 17,05,00,000 apprx

THOR: RAGNAROK is a HIT with a solid weekend of 27.50 crore nett. The film has recorded the sixth highest opening weekend of all time for Hollywood in India after THE JUNGLE BOOK, FAST & FURIOUS 7, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, FAST & FURIOUS 8 and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. The presence of Hulk has meant the film has done well in Hindi dubbed at most main centres across the country. The weekend collections of this Hollywood film are almost as much as the combined total of three main Hindi films playing - ITTEFAQ, GOLMAAL AGAIN and SECRET SUPERSTAR - over the same period. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,25,00,000
Sunday - 10,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 27,50,00,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ had a below par weekend of around 15 crore nett. It managed to show decent growth over the weekend but without Delhi NCR performing it will be tough for the film to go on the weekdays. The film only has an audience at high end multiplexes in metros and a large chunk of high end multiplexes are in the Delhi NCR belt. The film is a plus on costs because of good digital revenue but needs some sort of run over the next week or so to have respectable theatrical business. The business of the film is about three cities Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. The first weekend collections of ITTEFAQ are as follows.
Friday - 3,80,00,000
Saturday - 5,25,00,000
Sunday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 15,05,00,000 apprx

THOR: RAGNAROK is a HIT film as it showed good growth on Saturday to collect around 9-9.25 crore nett apprx. The growth is 15-20% but its good from the levels of day one. This takes the total of the film to near 17 crore nett and it will do a good first weekend of 27-28 crore nett. Hollywood has three major hits this year with Fast & Furious 8, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and IT and THOR: RAGNAROK will be the fourth HIT film. The collections of THOR: RAGNAROK till date are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 16,75,00,000 apprx

ITTEFAQ showed good growth on Saturday with collections jumping around 35-40% which is actually more than THOR: RAGNAROK but this film did not open well on day one. The film is safe due to revenue outside theatrical and Saturday is a good jump but the film is very lopsided towards Mumbai and South which could be a problem on the weekdays unless of course these areas hold very well. The first two collections of ITTEFAQ are as follows.
Friday - 3,80,00,000
Saturday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 9,05,00,000 apprx

THOR: RAGNAROK recorded the seventh highest opening ever for a Hollywood film in India and it is the second best opening this year after FAST & FURIOUS 8. Though it has to be noted that the GROSS figures are in the same range as XXX: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE at around 7.75 crore. The film started very strongly and picked up pace as the day went on which should mean a strong weekend for the film. It left the main Hindi release ITTEFAQ well behind.

FAST & FURIOUS 7 released in 2015 remains the biggest Hollywood opener in India and its looking a tough record to beat as even FAST & FURIOUS 8 could not beat it. The top ten Hollywood opening days (first full day) are as follows.
1. Fast & Furious 7 (2015) - 12,03,00,000
2. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015) - 10,96,00,000
3. The Jungle Book (2016) - 10,12,00,000
4. Fast & Furious 8 (2017) - 9,57,00,000
5. Captain America: Civil War (2016) - 8,46,00,000
6. Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) - 7,93,00,000
7. Thor: Ragnorak - 7,75,00,000 apprx
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) - 7,48,00,000
9. XXX: Return Of Xander Cage (2017) - 7,21,00,000
10. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) - 6,77,00,000
