“Digital shows have a massive reach globally which is why I love them,” says Sapna Pabbi, who has appeared in digital series such as Breathe, Four More Shots Please, and The Trip, among others. “I am really grateful for the opportunities I have been blessed with in my career so far. I came to Mumbai without a plan and it’s been seven years and I’m still enjoying the projects I get to be a part of. I think, it’s the best time to be an artiste, thanks to the web. It has opened so many doors for me. Though, I believe that it is the content that matters over the platform, overall,” she says.

After her last web show, Bombers, Sapna wrapped a cameo for a movie, which was recently shot in London, UK, and earlier shot for a short film with Aparshakti Khurana. “Apar is such a natural entertainer. We had a lot of fun on the shoot. He is so talented. He kept us up through the night shoots with his acoustic sing-alongs,” says Sapna, who is also excited that her film Drive co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput finally releasing on an OTT platform tomorrow.

Ask the actor if she has been typecast in the industry and Sapna says, “I really haven’t thought about that. But I do get that ‘series girl’ often, and, of course, the Khamoshiyan (2015) actor stuck for a bit. The songs of the film are still very popular. Personally, I feel all labels are temporary assumptions, so I try not to take them seriously. I make the choice whether they stick or not. Working on the web show, The Trip, changed things for me. I went for content that I enjoyed and believed in rather than thinking about the platform. And I’ve continued to work by that motto ever since,” she signs off.

Masaan actress Shweta Tripathi is now Shweta Tripathi Sharma. She married rapper Chaitanya Sharma (Slow Cheetah) in a traditional Hindu ceremony at a beach resort in Goa on Friday evening. The couple’s family and friends reached the venue on Thursday noon. The pre-wedding celebrations, including the haldi ceremony, were held on Friday morning. While talking to BT soon after the wedding, Shweta said, “I was waiting for the feeling to sink in and then, as soon as I heard the dhol from the baraat, my heart started racing. I couldn’t be happier.” When asked how her other half is dealing with the change in their relationship status, Shweta chuckled, “We were waiting for this day. Our friends and families’ happiness knew no bound. If there’s one thing we are sure of, it’s each other.”

Shweta and Chaitanya tied the knot on June 29. A week later, the bride turns a year older on July 6. Will the first birthday after marriage be any different from the others so far? “Right now, we’re in such high spirits with the wedding madness that the birthday feels far away,” she said. The couple’s parents rocked the wedding party, dancing and singing the night away celebrating the big day in their lives.

No wedding is complete without gifts for the bridal couple. The best one for this jodi came from the team that designed their wedding creatives — they gifted them a 3D version of their wedding invitation which the couple holds close to its heart. While the celebrations and revelry are still on, Shweta and Chaitanya’s honeymoon will have to wait.

“A week later, I will have to report on set for a shoot. The Trip (a British TV series) enters its second season and I have committed time to it. As soon as that’s done, Chaitanya and I will leave for our European honeymoon; my best friend has planned the entire itinerary,” said Shweta, who will move in with her husband into their Juhu home next week.

With Lisa Haydon's tot turning one this month, the model has her hands full with baby duties. Her attention turned towards her boy, Zack Lalvani, the actor has decided to bow out of the second season of the web series, The Trip. With Haydon, her character Shonali too makes an exit from the show, leaving the door open for Amyra Dastur, who will now play one of the four protagonists in the second edition.

Dastur tells mid-day of her currently-unnamed character, "I'm excited to finally play a fun-filled, comic role. She [character] is quirky, intelligent and hilarious." With Lisa Haydon having already established her equation with the rest of the cast — including Mallika Dua, Sapna Pabbi and Shweta Tripathi - Amyra Dastur knows she'll need to make a distinct place for herself.

"It'll be interesting to see how my character's chemistry develops with the girls. Sonam and I are discussing how my character will react to situations, and more importantly, to the other girls. My focus is to ensure that my character is relatable and in sync with the cast and story." An international shooting schedule at an undisclosed location is being planned. Part two of the Bindass and Disney India series is likely to kick-off from where the first instalment concluded.

Before one could bracket her as an arthouse performer, Shweta Tripathi sprung back on the scene with The Trip - a web series that couldn't be further removed from her previous projects. Signing on a light-hearted show, she says, is a deliberate attempt to continuously surprise the audience. As she returns with the second season of The Trip, Tripathi talks about forging a deep friendship with co-stars Mallika Dua, Lisa Haydon and Sapna Pabbi, and the joys of travel.

Will The Trip 2 kick off from where the last season left off?
Considering the last trip constituted my bachelorette party, I don't know if my character will be shown as a married girl this time. We'll know once the show goes on floors in January. I've heard that it'll be a road trip in Rajasthan, but there's no confirmation yet. This season too will be about the characters discovering themselves during the trip. I think travel helps you grow as a person.

Are all the protagonists reprising their roles in the new season?
Mallika, Sapna and I are on board. Since Lisa just had her baby, I'm not sure if she will be joining us. I hope all four of us get back together because the last season was a great experience.

Did you stay in touch with them in the interim?
Sapna and I manage to catch up. We are total health freaks, so we meet over salads or coffee. She does Pilates and I've got hooked on to it because of her [laughs].

Have you met Lisa and her newborn Zack?
We had planned to meet her, but it didn't work out as she has been travelling a lot. But, she has been sending us baby pictures regularly. I have been quite busy too. I had to travel to Paris and Busan for the screening of Haraamkhor at their respective film festivals.

Most of your films have won critical acclaim. Had you imagined this sort of appreciation this early your career?
Not in the least. I didn't know such films existed. I wanted to be the kind of actor who would wear a salwar suit and dance in the fields [laughs]. Now, as I attend film festivals, it all seems like a dream. I'm glad to balance my serious roles with something like The Trip, which is an opportunity to do something different.
