THALAIVII had a poor week collecting around 6.75 crore nett in week one. The film had bulk of the business coming from South as the Hindi version collected only 1.50 crore nett. The film fared best in the Chennai area but even there collections were down on the weekdays.
SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS did pretty well in week two collecting 6.50 crore nett which is a 58% drop from the first week. It has collected 22 crore nett in two weeks which is a decent number considering the situation though the business from Hindi circuits remains low.
FAST & FURIOUS 9 had a low second week collecting 2.75 crore nett which takes its total to 14.25 crore nett. The film could not collect well in English as some of that potential audience would have seen a pirated version. A early August release for this film would have meant higher numbers than SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS. It could have reached 30 crore nett with an early release before the pirated version penetrated the market. FAST & FURIOUS 9 has better collections than SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS in Gujarat and many other cities where only dubbed versions of both films are playing.
The Telugu SEETIMAARR had fair collections of 11.50 crore nett but this was mainly because of the opening day of 4 crore nett. The film could not sustain post the opening day and weekday collections were hardly anything. The Telugu industry being frontloaded did well in the first quarter post the first lockdown and it should be the same after the second lockdown but internal issues with ticket pricing will have to be sorted out first.

THALAIVII saw a drop in collections which was inevitable as the bulk of the business was coming from South which drops faster than the Hindi circuits. The film is looking at first week business which will be 6 crore nett at best. The Hindi circuits will be around 1.50 crore nett. The only positive for the film is the business from Chennai city and that is from the perspective that it has scored over the local film LABAAM in Chennai city when that film probably had more going for it as far as Chennai is concerned. In Hindi, some cinemas recorded better numbers than Friday and overall Hindi did not drop much but the collections are hardly anything.
The Telugu film SEETIMAARR opened at 4 crore nett on day one is also struggling as the four day business of the film is yet to reach 10 crore nett. The Telugu films are also heavily frontloaded and so this is sort of par for the course but still holds should have been a little better. There are ticket pricing issues in Andhra with the state government and this has delayed the bigger films.
The daily collections of THALAIVII across India are as follows.
Friday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,60,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,80,00,000 apprx
Monday - 65,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 5,40,00,000 apprx

THALAIVII collected poorly over the first weekend with 4.75 crore nett coming over three days from all versions. The film did not release in Hindi in the national chains though the Tamil version was playing in some PVR and Inox properties in Hindi circuits.
The film collected around 1 crore nett in Hindi in three days as the film collected 25 lakhs nett on Friday, 30 lakhs nett on Saturday and 45 lakhs nett on Sunday. The film may not have released in the major chains but there were more than enough cinemas to collect far more respectable numbers than these.
The best performance came in the Tamil version as the film picked up around 2.75 crore nett in Tamil Nadu and 50 lakh in other places (mainly Bangalore). The Hindi version did not play in national chains in Bangalore but the Tamil version did which meant far better numbers for the Tamil version.
The performance in Tamil Nadu cant be called good but it compares well with the local film LABAAM which had a wider release and collected 4 crore nett over four days. In Chennai, THALAIVII collected around 1 crore nett over three days which was more than the four days of LABAAM. It also trended better than LABAAM. So Tamil Nadu is probably the only chance of some sort of run but this will hardly matter in the final picture.
The rest of the 50 lakhs for the film came from Nizam/Andhra and these were poor results as it released on around 250 cinemas.

Saturday - 1,60,00,000 apprx

THALAIVII had low opening day as it grossed around 20-25 lakhs nett on day one in the Hindi circuits without a release in the national chains. The collections were low all over some Delhi/UP and Gujarat having best contribution. The film never really had much of a chance without the bigger multiplexes as the chances of this film were less in the smaller plexes and single screens.
The all India business of the film is better at around 1.25 crore nett as the film picked up in Tamil Nadu and collected in the 80 lakh nett range. This is reasonable as the film gave competition to local film LABAAM which had more face value for Tamil Nadu than THALAIVII. Infact in some properties of Chennai the collections of THALAIVII are higher than LABAAM.
The film could not do much in Nizam/Andhra as the local film SEETIMAARR ruled the market with collections likely to come in over 4 crore nett which will be the highest opening day in India since cinemas reopened in July. This film is also a mass entertainer and will probably prove to be third successful in India after two Punjabi films.
THALAIVII will easily do its best business in Tamil Nadu as its based on a famous personality from Tamil Nadu and so probably holds more appeal in that market. The film held little appeal for North India due to South look of the film but the film could have done better in bigger multiplexes of Maharashtra and Central India but these were not in play for the film.
