I don’t want to have a party on my birthday, says Shilpa Shetty on her 48th birthday

As Shilpa Shetty Kundra turns 48 today, she plans to keep it low-key and spend the day with her family

Currently in London, Shilpa Shetty Kundra is spending quality time with her family — husband Raj Kundra (47) and children Viaan (10) and Samisha (3). As the actor turns 48 today, she tells us that she will be holidaying for a while, with a short trip to India for a work commitment. “I will visit India briefly for the shoot of a reality show and will return to London after wrapping it up,” says Shilpa.
Party all night? Not really
The actor proudly calls herself a “homebody” and says she doesn’t like to party, even on her birthday. “I end up going to parties because I am from the industry (showbiz) and I have so many friends. Toh parties mein mooh dikhana padta hai. But, I am the kind of person who likes to unwind with her kids, read them stories and have her dinner by 7 pm. I don’t want to have a party on my birthday. My family might have some plans, but as far as I know, it’s going to be a simple celebration,” says Shilpa.
BEST BIRTHDAY KI YAADEIN
Among all the birthdays she’s had so far, Shilpa considers her 40th the most memorable one: “My husband planned a party for me in Montenegro (Europe) and invited 40 of my friends. When I was on the way, I had no clue about the celebration. But I knew that my son wasn’t there, so I felt guilty as a mother. But by the time I got to the resort, I was surprised to see Viaan, my in-laws and parents. My father was also alive then. It was a beautiful celebration.”
LONDON, HER SECOND HOME
Shilpa says since she had a busy 2022, taking some time off to be with her family was a must. “With Indian Police Force and Sukhee (her upcoming projects), I worked really hard last year. So, I needed to get out. London is my second home and there’s so much to do here with the kids. I just wait to do normal things and not be seen. We go strawberry picking and visiting theme parks with them. I am feeling rejuvenated. It’s great to not be looked at or judged,” admits the actor.

A khabru informs that Shilpa Shetty and hubby Raj Kundra have not been living together for the last two weeks. Raj has been staying in his Matunga office since the last two weeks and only comes to their Juhu house to visit once a day. Turns out, it’s true. Raj confirms, “I think this rumour started when Shilpa was complaining to her friends that I have been working so hard that I hardly had any time to spend with her. I have been working on this huge deal almost 20 hours a day from my office in Matunga and haven’t had any time to breathe, eat or sleep! I just go home for a shower and change.” Far from facing marital blues Raj has a surprise planned for Shilpa on her 41st birthday (June 8) this year. But it’s nothing fancy he insists. “This year we will keep it simple as last year, we celebrated it in Montenegro with all our family and friends so this year will be just Shilpa and me. I will whisk her off somewhere for just one night. And of course, it will be a surprise again. Shilpa is my princess so I have to look after her well,” he smiles. Awww... She’s a lucky girl.

Hubby sweeps Shilpa off her feet with The Great Gasby and Bond themed parties to bring in her 40th birthday
Raj Kundra gifted Shilpa Shetty a penthouse in Central London when she turned 35. Two years later, the British-born entrepreneur presented his wife with a duplex in Noida on their anniversary.
Last anniversary, he booked a luxury apartment on the 19th floor of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Naturally, after all these extravagant declarations of love, everyone was waiting to see how Raj would sweep his rani off her feet when she turned 40. He did it in style, jetting down 30 friends and family members to Sveti Stefan, an island in the Balkan nation of Montenegro, for a three-day birthday bash.
Raj orchestrated everything on his own, before flying his biwi down from London and blindfolding her till she entered The Great Gatsby world. The gathering included sister Shamita Shetty, buddy Harman Baweja and R. Madhavan's wife, Sarita Birje. "Shilpa is a huge fan of illusionist Darcy Oake who made a special appearance at the stroke of midnight," says a guest, adding that the men were in tuxedoes and the women in designer gowns.
The Gatsby party was followed by an extravagant breakfast, then a barbecue party at the Queen's private beach Milocer. The birthday rounded up with a Bond themed dinner at Aman Sveti Stefan's signature restaurant which is known to be Hollywood stars Gwyneth Paltrow and George Clooney's favourite weekend getaway.
"Raj had been planning this bash for months. He picked the venue and decided the itinerary too. He got a video made of Shilpa's friends who couldn't make it to the party, sending her personalised birthday wishes," adds the source.
One of these pals was Hrithik Roshan who wished her on Twitter, adding "still figuring d secret 2dat figure!" (sic) We're figuring out what Raj will do next for his Rani!
