SHEHZADA had a low first week of around 26.50 crore nett as collections came down fast after a low weekend. There were incentives with tickets when the film released but it did not help much. There are two sides of the coin to this as there will be some who take up the offer but there will be others who will think there is something wrong with the film so why should they waste their time. So at the end of the day, it just equals itself out.

The film should have done better in places like Gujarat, Rajasthan and CI where family entertainers do better but these markets were not really encouraging. The film had competition from ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA initially but that fizzled out very quick. The fact that it was a remake of a South film did not help. The South film was dubbed in Hindi and released in the wake of the success of PUSHPA as it had the same actor Allu Arjun and was widely watched.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA saw a decent weekend number but with a poor trend and then saw a huge drop on Monday. The film collected 32 crore nett over the first week which is still more than SHEHZADA but it should have been much more considering the initials of both films.

The Marvel brand has struggled lately in India post the advances. They are racking up strong advances as fans lap at the tickets but the neutral audience is turning up in less numbers and here with ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA, it may not be there. The results of these films show the box office is pretty much where it was before PATHAAN.

SHEHZADA had a huge drop of 60-65% on Monday as it collected around 2-2.25 crore nett which takes the film to 22 crore nett plus. The Monday drop seals the fate of the film though that was there on the first day itself when it failed to move much in the evening.

The first week collections of the film will be around 27 crore nett and there will not be much coming after. The drop on Monday is huge for a film that did not open. Though it has trended better than ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA on Monday, that is not really a victory.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA saw an evening bigger drop than SHEHZADA falling around 75% on Monday. The film collected around 2.25 crore nett on Monday and a total of 27.75 crore nett. Normally Hollywood releases fall on Monday but still manage decent numbers over the following weekends but it will be difficult here. When the Marvel brand is suffering such a state, it shows how difficult it will be for others.

SHEHZADA could not do much business over the weekend with a 20 crore nett apprx weekend. The film fared poorly all over though mass pockets did a little better on Saturday and Sunday and managed to go up. The hope was post PATHAAN, the business in general would be better for the more regular films but its still seems to be little different as it was before PATHAAN.

It has also been seen that when a real big grosser comes like GADAR or BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and even going back to SHOLAY (1975), there is never another grosser for months but that may just be a coincidence and the right film never came. The industry cant afford this coincidence post PATHAAN as needs a more regular film to work.

SHEHZADA was a South remake where the original film had been dubbed and these are seeing limited audience and then the music was a huge weak link for the film.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA did average business over the weekend as collections on Sunday came down. The film was mainly advance driven by Marvel fans and could not really keep pace in current. The weekend collections are decent due to the advances but the Sunday figure means difficult times ahead.

SHEHZADA managed to show some growth on Saturday in the 15% range due to Mahashivratri as mass pockets showed jumps. The buy one get one offer started on Friday evening probably got implemented in more smaller multiplexes on Saturday as it was harder for them implement straight away like the big chains. This may have helped mass markets. Eventually though it all equals up and these offers don't really add much business.

The film collected around 6.50 crore nett on Saturday taking its two day total to 12.25 crore nett and it will probably be a 19-20 crore nett weekend for the film.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA is doing pretty good business as it collected around 9 crore nett on day two. The Mahashivratri holiday is mainly for mass centres and it was never going to help this film much. Hence, Saturday was up only 5%. It will probably be another similar story on Sunday as those big metros don't grow much on Sunday. If the film is to grow on Sunday it will have come from the South markets.

SHEHZADA could not collect much on the first day with collections of 5.75-6 crore nett. The film had some momentum with the one ticket free offer on the morning of releases but eventually that also fizzled out and collections slowed. The way it was going in the morning, it should have collected more but those morning collections were driven by the novelty of the offer.

It has been seen before so many times that low price ticket rates are not able to get people to the cinema. There is a push here and there but eventually the results don't come through. These experiments are mainly carried out as an incentive to try and bring the audience in but is not working. So its just better to forget about lower pricing as this could be dangerous in the long run as public starts waiting for offers/incentives and lower offers and what not. The pricing is never an issue with the correct product and this has been seen for decades and it does not help a wrong product.

SHEHZADA could not perform anywhere and areas like Gujarat/Saurashtra and CI which could have been better as it was a family film were pretty much the same as others. The performance in East was very dull. It is Mahashivratri on Saturday which is a holiday but with day one collections being offer driven and not pushing in the evening, it will be hard for much growth.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA had good first day collections of 8.50 crore nett which is pretty much on the expected lines. The film had good advances but as the case with most Marvel films, the collections on the day are on the slower side. The film could not collect well in the Hindi belts where many places SHEHZADA was actually better but across the big centres it was well ahead of SHEHZADA and of course the biggest difference was the southern circuits.

The weekend collections should be good to decent although again there may not be much of a weekend trend for the film despite the holiday on Saturday. The film is the sixth best Hollywood opening post pandemic after AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER and BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER. The list is dominated by the Marvel brand and above all there is AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER.
