Shamshera collects 39.85 cr in Week 1

Shamshera review
Box Office India Trade Network

SHAMSHERA collected a poor 40 crore nett in week one as collections come down heavily on the weekdays especially on Wednesday. It also had a big fall on Thursday. This will be it for the film as it will be limited collections post the first week.

The expectations of the film were much higher but the business scenario today is such that when a film is rejected, there is not going to be much business. Earlier, the bigger films would still put up some numbers as generally there was a larger audience pool of regular viewers.

The business of SHAMSHERA remained dull in all circuits and that was the case from day one. The mass markets could not do much and stayed well below the numbers of SAMRAT PRITHVIRAJ which also could not do much but had some decent weekend numbers in some mass pockets.

The business of SHAMSHERA till date is as follows.
Friday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 39,85,00,000 apprx

SHAMSHERA had a big fall on Monday which was coming as the film hardly went up on Sunday and even films that do well fall 65% from Sunday and here it was bound to be more. The film fell around 75% from Friday in the bigger centres while in mass pockets, the fall was more around 65%. But some of these do better on Monday and then fall on Tuesday.

The collections on Monday are around 2.75-3 crore nett which takes the film to 34 crore nett and it will be a likely 40-41 crore nett week and limited business post the first week. There is EK VILLAIN RETURNS releasing this week and even if that was not releasing, it would have hardly made a difference to the collections of SHAMSHERA as the film has not been liked.

There are four very important films releasing over the next six weeks or so and it would be great if all work but its so important something works out of EK VILLAIN RETURNS, LAAL SINGH CHADDHA, RAKSHA BANDHAN and BRAHMASTRA.

The business of SHAMSHERA till date is as follows.
Friday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 33,85,00,000 apprx

SHAMSHERA had a disappointing first weekend with collections in the 31 crore nett range. There was not much trajectory over the weekend. For a film like this, the trajectory is an after thought and its really about that first day and here the film could not do well enough there.

The film saw around 20% growth in mass pockets of UP, CP, CI, Bihar and Rajasthan on Sunday but shockingly Gujarat did not grow and all these areas can show 50% growth on Sunday for a big film. The film collected around 10-75-11 crore nett on Sunday.

Obviously there is going to be a huge struggle for collections over the weekdays and a big drop is inevitable on Monday. The industry is in shock but after what happened to the initial collections of HEROPANTI 2 and RUNWAY 34, nothing really should shock as the box office scenario pattern is totally different from before the pandemic. No doubt its a sad situation but nothing really can be done at the moment and its mainly about better stories and projects being launched now for better results in the future.

The first weekend business of SHAMSHERA is as follows.
Friday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 31,00,00,000 apprx

SHAMSHERA was flat on Saturday as it collected around 10-10.25 crore nett again with the multiplexes not really going up while the mass belts did not drop either. The film needed the multiplexes to go up as the mass circuits were always unlikely to improve on Saturday but they should go up on Sunday.

The two day business of the film is 20 crore nett which is a paltry return for such a film but sadly this is the reality today when a film does not work. The film may do better on Sunday but it would have to create history with 60-70% growth on Sunday to stand a chance after the weekend and that does not even happen when a film is accepted.

The plus again for the umpteenth time post the pandemic is recovery from non theatrical rights which will save the day as far as losses are concerned. The recovery from non theatrical is over 150 crore which will keep losses at a minimum if any. The theatrical for most films has been in dire straits since November but these non theatrical rights are the ones which have stopped production houses losing crores and crores with most major films pulling through or suffering minor losses. The ones to go wrong and suffer big were '83 and DHAAKAD but here the non theatrical deals were weak in the former and non existent with the latter.

But now the window between theatrical and digital/satellite goes to 8 weeks from August which is going to hit non theatrical revenue meaning more pressure on theatrical recovery.

The two day business of SHAMSHERA is as follows.
Friday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 10,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 20,00,00,000
