Hit - The First Case collects 6 cr in 4 days; Shabaash Mithu collects 1.80 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

HIT - THE FIRST CASE collected 65 lakhs nett on Monday which took its business to 6 crore nett and it will be lucky to reach the 10 crore nett mark from here. The week will close at around 7.75 crore nett and adding another 2-3 crore nett after week one will not be easy for the film.

The film offered no entertainment and hence, it go no audience. Earlier this year, BADHAAI DO with a similar kind of cast did 19 crore nett. Although that film's subject had little hope as it was about gays and lesbians, it probably had some humour to take 90-100% further than HIT - THE FIRST CASE despite opening only 20% more.

The collections of HIT - THE FIRST CASE till date are as follows.
Friday - 1,15,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,90,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,30,00,000 apprx
Monday - 65,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 6,00,00,000 apprx (4 days)

SHABAASH MITHU is a total disaster as it has collected only 1.80 crore nett in four days and it will be out in a week. The film will do similar business to DHAAKAD though losses will be less than that film due to lower costs and pre release digital and satellite deals in place. The budget is still high for the type of film it is and the face value it has.

The business of SHABAASH MITHU till date is as follows.
Friday - 40,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 55,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 70,00,000 apprx
Monday - 15,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,80,00,000 apprx (4 days)

HIT - THE FIRST CASE showed an upward trend on Saturday but it will not be good enough from such a low level start. The film had to double up at least but it went up around 65% to collect a little under 2 crore nett. The two day collections of the film are around 3 crore nett.

The film does not have much for the mass audience that drives the business on Sunday so the weekend will be around 5.50 crore nett which is a paltry sum and less than last week's KHUDA HAAFIZ CHAPTER 2 - AGNI PARIKSHA.

The two day collections of HIT - THE FIRST CASE are as follows.
Friday - 1,15,00,000
Saturday - 1,90,00,000
TOTAL - 3,05,00,000

The collections of SHABAASH MITHU are much worse than HIT - THE FIRST CASE and the growth was also pretty minimal on Saturday. On top this film has a higher budget than HIT - THE FIRST CASE. So obviously its gone all wrong for this film. The two day business of the film remains under 1 crore nett after two days.

The two day business of SHABAASH MITHU is as follows.
Friday - 40,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 55,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 95,00,000 apprx

HIT - THE FIRST CASE collected poorly at around 1.15 crore nett which is lower than KHUDA HAAFIZ CHAPTER 2 - AGNI PARIKSHA last week and RASHTRA KAVACH OM the week before. Nothing much was expected from the film as the trailer was poor and had no face value to attract the initial audience. When there is no face value, then the trailer or a song has to work.

The film did pick up in the evening as around the afternoon, the film did not look like getting to the 1 crore nett but that hardly matters as much because where can you go from this sort of start. Obviously the hope is that it goes up 100% up or even more on Saturday which may give it a chance.

SHABAASH MITHU was much worse as it collected around 40 lakhs nett on the first day. The film is another cricket biopic after '83 but this time it revolves around a female player. '83 was a disaster but it had ahuge production budget and hype and this film has nothing going for even though the production cost is pretty high for a female orientated film with little face value. There is little hope for the film with such a low start.

These films will be called films for streaming and if they had gone straight to OTT then the makers would have built that perception of appreciattion and love which would be all fake as the audience is one. There has only been ONE film that would have worked which went to OTT and that is Laxmii and that can be said with more certainty now looking at box office results and the demographics of the box office of last 6 months.

The problem with likes of HIT - THE FIRST CASE and SHABAASH MITHU is you have main leads who are actually supporting actors and when you do this the box office is a risk. Obviously with better content you can get away with it with these type of actors or better put got way with it before the pandemic. Now the pandemic has shifted the posts and its about content in cinematic format to reach the masses. This sort of basic acting and basic films with no vision will find it harder and harder to survive.

There were other films released like JUDAA HOKE BHI and LADKI and the collections of these films are negligible.
