OCTOBER grossed 27.75 crore nett in its first week which is on the lower side but it did hold well over the weekdays which is pretty much the story for all these urban content type of films. The film is safe in terms of economics due to the revenue from digital and satellite but has to go towards the 40 crore nett mark for a respectable theatrical performance.
This will depend on the business of the second Friday which is all important for the film. It has held well over the weekdays but places like Mumbai and Bangalore sometimes drop off in the second week. A sustaining area like Delhi NCR is under performing for the film and so it remains to be seen how it goes.
A drop under 30% from Thursday will do nicely for the film but if it goes towards 40% or more then it will have to show bigger growth on Saturday.
The film has the lowest figures for a Varun Dhawan starrer in week one but was probably a certainty before release as its his first film inspired by European cinema which is dire and flat for the majority of Hindi film audience. Actually second after BADLAPUR but that film was adapted better and not as subtle as this and had Hit songs to give it an initial boost which was the main reason of its success. That film had a first week of almost 36 crore nett and is the second lowest Varun Dhawan starrer in week one.
The Hollywood release RAMPAGE did fair business in week one as it grossed around 18.75 crore nett and this is without 3D screenings which would have easily taken it over 20 crore nett and maybe even a few crore higher than 20 crore nett which would have been a good result.
The film held well on the weekdays and could do decent business in its second week. The lack of competition will improve it chances for a decent second week total though next week it will be out and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR releases which is the biggest Hollywood release of the year for India.

RAID continued to run its fifth week with decent figures of 75 lakhs nett in four days. The film could collect around 1 crore nett over the week. The total of the film so far is a little over 97 crore nett and the film is looking at a 97.50 crore nett finish which is the same as EK VILLAIN in 2014. The film should add a little in the sixth week also.
The collections of RAID till now are as follows.
Week One - 59,86,00,000
Week Two - 25,17,00,000
Week Three - 8,75,00,000
Fourth Week - 2,62,00,000
Fifth Week - 75,00,000 (4 Days)
TOTAL - 97,14,00,000 apprx
RAMPAGE has done fair business considering no 3D release as that is a substantial contribution for Hollywood films like this. The film has grossed around 14 crore nett in four days and should finish the week at around 18.5-19 crore nett. The hold on Monday is decent with figures in the 1.75-2 crore nett range - a 30-35% drop. The business of the film is as follows.
Friday - 2,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,25,00,000
Sunday - 5,00,00,000
Monday - 1,85,00,000
TOTAL - 13,85,00,000 apprx
BLACKMAIL grossed 2.25 crore nett apprx in its second week (4 Days) to take its total to 17 crore nett and the film will close out at 18 crore nett.
HICHKI is still doing decent with around 44 crore nett after 25 days and it should cross the 45 crore nett mark.

OCTOBER showed very good growth of 55% on Saturday as it grossed 7 crore nett with high end multiplexes in metros doubling up in collections. A circuit like Mysore almost doubled its collections while many theatres in Mumbai city also were almost double.
There was a partial holiday in some places like Baisakhi in Punjab and Tamil New Year in Tamil Nadu which would have helped in these places but as content not really for these markets, the lift cant be seen in the collections. The Saturday growth is very good but on Sunday the film will find it difficult as the growth comes from Bihar, Rajasthan and Haryana and its hard to see the film getting good numbers in these parts. The key is the weekday business in the metros.
The first two day business of OCTOBER is as follows.
Friday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 11,50,00,000 apprx
The Hollywood release RAMPAGE showed a jump of 50% as it grossed 3.75 crore nett on day two an took its total to 6.25 crore nett. The film will cross 10 crore nett for the weekend which is low generally for a action Hollywood film. But this film came with no promotion and without a 3D release and hence that the collections are respectable.
