PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO is the sixth highest grossing film ever as it looks to finish with a Worldwide GROSS of 365 crore. Earlier this year BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN had grossed 600 crore plus. The film has managed to edge past another Salman Khan starrer KICK (352 crore) due to better business overseas.

The film has also gone past last years Diwali release HAPPY NEW YEAR (343 crore). Three films have crossed 500 crore and nine films have crossed 300 crore. The 200 crore mark has been crossed by 21 film with Salman Khan having six of these films meaning almost 30%.

The film is looking at a 193.50 crore nett finish in Hindi with the Tamil and Telugu versions grossing 2.50 crore nett. Despite the drop in collections after the first week it is still the only true HIT of the fourth quarter with just two main releases to come in the form of DILWALE and BAJIRAO MASTANI.

The distributor share of the film will cross 105 crore with another 40 crore coming from Overseas. Adding Satellite and Music recoveries it will be on of the rare films of Hindi cinema to have a recovery of over 200 crore.

The best performance is in Mumbai circuit where the film will do around 72 crore nett but Delhi/UP has not performed well as collections will remain below 35 crore nett which means it is not even in the top ten films of Delhi/UP. The North India business is the big let down as when North plus the circuits where PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO has done well all do well then it normally results in a blockbuster.

The film will get a little help on Tuesday evening and Welnesday due to Guru Nanak Jayanti. It will be mainly in Delhi and Punjab but collections are low here. The second week will be around 24 crore.

Despite the drop in the second week the film is still a HIT due to the huge shares in week one. The film will hit the 100 cr share mark before the second week is out.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO has recorded crazy records in Gujarat in the first week. The first week (eight days) figure in Saurashtra is 5.25 crore nett which is simply unimaginable. The seven day figure is a little over 5 crore nett making it the first time that 5 crore nett has been crossed in a week

Till date no film had even crossed 4 crore in Saurashtra with HAPPY NEW YEAR coming closest with over 3.75 crore nett. BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and KICK had done 3.50 crore nett apprx. Diwali is big in the Gujarat area but still to beat records by huge margins means that this area at least has see appreciation for the film. The final Gujarat area collections will top 25 crore nett and Ahmedabad may have even crossed 7 crore nett. HAPPY NEW YEAR was the first film to cross 6 crore nett in Ahmedabad last year.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO may not reach the lifetime nett figures of PK or BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN in Gujarat as there is a drop on day eight but the distributor share will not be far due to huge shares achieved in week one. Both PK and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN crossed 20 crore share in Gujarat/Saurashtra and PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO could be third film to reach that mark.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO saw a drop of collections on day eight as it grossed around the 3.75-4 crore nett mark. This was expected as North India was weak after day one and the films that really sustain well tend to be strong in North. Mumbai circuit tends to fall off outside Gujarat as a film goes into week two. The same has happened here with the Gujarat fall coming as collections were at very high levels on the weekdays.

Gujarat/Saurashtra has fallen but from its lofted levels but still collections are good. Normally it would be an 17-18 crore nett second weekend for the film but that has to seen as the growth is driven by Delhi and Punjab but here the film is not doing that well in these areas.

The average performance in some areas has meant that the business of the film on day eight is the third highest of the year after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS when it really should have been the second highest.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO was decent on Tueaday in most circuits apart from Gujarat which fell a bit more as its coming off an extended holiday period. The business of PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO over the first six day is as follows.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO had an excellent extended eight first week of around 160 crore nett. The first week collections are the fifth highest of all time after BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, PK, DHOOM 3 and KICK if we take the seven day week. Despite the huge first week it was a mixed trend after the first day which set opening day records in practically all the circuits.

The film started behaving differently across India from day two - some circuits were excellent  while others had major falls and this continued through the weekdays. It is after a long time that there is such varied business across India for a big film. Some circuits have done blockbuster first week numbers while others have not even done hit business

The standouts are Gujarat/Saurashtra and Rajasthan which over seven days did all time record business. Next best are CP Berar and CI. The huge Gujarat/Saurashtra numbers have enabled Mumbai circuit to put up a big number.

Basically Gujarat has rescued the film somewhat. With Delhi and Punjab not performing, the next most important area Gujarat is phenomenal which has really helped its cause. It has been helped by extended holidays in Gujarat and it remains to be seen how the second week goes. The story is totally different in Delhi/UP where the first week is not even in the top five as Delhi city was a huge let down though UP did very well.

The extended weekend number is huge but there has been a drop every day since release and that is okay on Friday and Saturday but should have reversed that trend on Sunday which it could not and had its biggest fall. The business in Mumbai, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, UP and Bihar is phenomenal but Delhi city is average and Punjab above average. This will tell on its collections on Monday and the fall will be more than normal but the hope will be its not a big fall.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO held firm on Saturday with business a bit higher than the previous day. The film is being driven by Mumbai and Central India circuits which have done record business for the first three days. The business of PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO over the first three days is as follows.

The weekend record of BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN at 101.50 crore nett is safe as its very unlikely that PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO will do a 34 crore nett number on day three. It will also probably fall short of a 100 crore nett weekend total leaving BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN the only film to achieve this feat.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO had the highest opening day of all time and became the sixth film to go over 30 crore nett. It is the second film to go over 35 crore nett but the 40 crore nett mark is still proving to be elusive. The figures of PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO will not even go to 40 crore nett with the Tamil and Telugu versions added as collections of these are very poor.

The highest non holiday opening is DHOOM 3 and in the top ten, DHOOM 3, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, PK and KICK are all non holiday openings with DHOOM 3 being the only non holiday film to breach 30 crore nett. The first film to break the 20 crore nett mark was BODYGUARD in 2011 with 21 crore nett plus and so the benchmark has almost doubled in four years.

PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO smashed all opening day box office records as it grossed 39 crore nett on day one beating the previous record of HAPPY NEW YEAR by around 2.75 crore nett. The film hit new opening day records in Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Bihar and Assam. There was a Telugu and Tamil version of the film but that did not do well with collections of less than 1 crore nett.

This is a huge number for this type of film as eventually its not the huge action blockbuster type of film despite the huge budget but its the second day that will tell the real level of the film.

The day after Diwali is Vishkarma day and is the best day for box office collections every year so there will be a drop. HAPPY NEW YEAR dropped around 25% on its second day but it was a Saturday for that film while its a Friday here. The three day weekend record is around 101 crore nett by BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and that should be the target for PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO but may not be easy as BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN had a holiday for Eid on Saturday and then the normal Sunday holiday while here it is just a day one holiday and a small restricted holiday on Friday and the Saturday.
