NAAM SHABANA had a low first week of 26 crore nett with dropping collections on weekdays especially on Wednesday. The film managed to get a little lift on day one due to the presence of Akshay Kumar and even showed good growth on Saturday but with the film still running to low occupancy it needed to step up on Sunday which did not happen. The film was a spin off of BABY (2015) but that film itself did not do well at the box office and was a disaster on television post release. So if the first film had hardly any appreciation, how a spin off can be expected to succeed only god knows.
The weekdays were also aided by a holiday for Ram Navami but after that it was all downhill. The film has fared better in Mumbai with business of 8 crore nett which is more than the lifetime business of all 2017 releases barring RAEES, BADRINATH KI DULHANIA, JOLLY LLB and KAABIL. The weak competition should allow the film to cross 30 crore nett but that hardly means much.
PHILLAURI had a big fall in the second week as collections fell 82% and it grossed 3.75 crore nett. The total business of the film is 24.50 crore nett in two weeks. It will do less business than even NAAM SHABANA with a little over 25 crore nett. The film has managed AVERAGE business with a 6 crore nett plus finish in East Punjab thanks to Diljit Dosanjh.

PHILLAURI had similar collections on Tuesday as Monday with collections in Maharashtra being better due to a holiday for Gudi Padwa. This does not really change the scenario for the film as these collections will come down tomorrow and on top of that, North is now running at low occupancy. The film will just about get over the 20 crore nett mark for the week but the poor trend means limited second week collections. The film was depending on a good theatrical run as revenue from other sources will be very limited but now a decent theatrical run looks impossible. The business of PHILLAURI over the first five days is as follows.
Friday - 3,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,75,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000
Monday - 1,75,00,000
Tuesday - 1,75,00,000
TOTAL - 17,50,00,000
The film has done business of 4.40 crore nett apprx in East Punjab in five days and this is the highest collection in any circuit but still at best it will be just an Average fare even in East Punjab.

PHILLAURI had a low weekend grossing around 14 crore nett and the trend over the weekend was also not very strong with Sunday having very limited growth with 5.25-5.50 crore nett business despite the film being family oriented. The growth on Sunday was just 10-15%. The film has done better comparatively in East Punjab due to the presence of Diljit Dosanjh but even there the film has not really worked as the collections are less than what a Punjabi Diljit Dosanjh film would do if it was not liked. This is despite PHILLAURI being a Hindi film which gets the big cities of Haryana in play like Gurgaon, Faridabad and Rohtak. This also gives minimal contribution for a Punjabi film though some of this is negated by the tax free status of Punjabi films in Punjab.
The film probably could have gone through on big business in the North as its not a 50 or 75 crore film but obviously biggest plus of the film - Diljit Dosanjh - has not been used properly by the filmmakers. The audience probably expected more and that is why collections in East Punjab have hardly grown and if a Punjab based film is not going to trend strongly in Punjab then its hardly going to survive in the long run. The business of PHILLAURI over its first weekend is as follows.
Friday - 3,75,00,000
Saturday - 4,75,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000
TOTAL - 14,00,00,000

PHILLAURI grossed 3.50-3.75 crore nett approx on its opening day which is on the lower side but it put up good numbers in East Punjab and decent figures in Delhi city though the rest of the country was well below the mark. In places like Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore the numbers were below NH10 which had an all India opening of 3.25 crore nett.
The East Punjab number is higher than big Hindi films like KAABIL, RANGOON and SHIVAAY and this has come mainly because of the presence Diljit Dosanjh. This is the plus which has upped the all India total where the film has a chance to succeed because otherwise the film would not have even collected 3 crore nett. It is rare that the collections in Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab are all in the same range but this film has managed that. In fact East Punjab could be the highest circuits as when the final figures of Mumbai come in, its quite likely that it has stayed below 1 crore nett.
The film should be able to show growth on Saturday with Mumbai and Delhi growth being crucial. But on the other side the growth could be held back by East Punjab as the the film has managed to get a far wider audience there due to the star which can be seen by the very high ratio for the circuit. So when this happens the film also has to appeal to that wider audience to show growth or even sustain at the same level. The film probably needs growth of around 40% on Saturday to have a decent weekend.
The collections of ANAARKALI OF AARAH were limited and BHANWAREY was even worse
