After Anurag Kashyap’s romantic triangle Manmarziyaan, also featuring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, Abhishek Bachchan will now be a part of a horror comedy. The actor is teaming up with the director of Ragini MMS and the Phobia series, Pawan Kripalani.
A source close to the development reveals that the film, titled Tantrik, will go on the floors next year in Mumbai. “Pawan is still finalising the other locations and is also scouting for a leading lady opposite Abhishek,” adds the source.
The actor has also given the nod to Sarvesh Mewara’s Gulab Jamun that will mark his onscreen reunion with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after eight years. Their last film together was Mani Ratnam’s Raavan in 2010.
Pawan had made another horror film, Darr @ The Mall featuring Jimmy Sheirgill and Nushrat Bharucha four years ago. He has admitted that he is a psycho-thriller loyalist. When contacted on Tantrik, Pawan however chose not to comment.

Pawan Kripalani, who had
directed the successful horror film Ragini MMS, is set to surprise us
once again with his next offering, Phobia. The psychological thriller
features Radhika Apte as the protagonist, Mehak. An artist, she is
trapped in her own house and can neither go outdoors nor stay indoors as
she suffers from Agoraphobia (an extreme or irrational fear of open or
public places).
An excited Radhika says, “Phobia is the first psychological thriller of my career and also one of the most challenging and complex characters that I have ever played.“
Quiz Pawan about what prompted him to tackle such a subject and he replies, “Today, living with fear is an everyday affair. All of us are phobic about something. I wanted to make a film that captures our fears and the paranoia of daily urban life.“
Producer Viki Rajani is hopeful that viewers, who like watching psychological thrillers, will enjoy the unique narrative. He says, “It's a new-age thriller, a genre which has not been attempted before in Bollywood. Apart from an intriguing script, the film has a great director and actor combination in the form of Pawan and Radhika.“
Phobia, produced by Eros International and Next Gen Films, releases on May 27.

Ankur Pathak (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 1, 2014)
After Ragini MMS and Darr @ the Mall, director Pawan Kripalani is gearing up for a supernatural thriller. The film, tentatively titled Blue Blood, is about a royal family in Rajasthan and the extensive poaching of endangered species which is prevalent in the state.
Speaking to Mirror, Pawan says, "The film essentially deals with crimes against animals and how nature avenges these deaths, turning a festive period macabre. It is a controversial issue but no other filmmaker has documented it in a film."
The director who is making the film for Sunil Bohra and Ravindra Singh reveals that he will put forward the point of view of Rajasthan's Bishnoi community which worships black bucks, among other wild animals.
Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam have been accused in the alleged poaching of two black bucks on the night of October 12, 1998. They had allegedly gone hunting while shooting for Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Saath Saath Hain. Will there be any real life parallels in the film?
"My film takes a stand against the killing of animals. There's a lot of subtext to the story, but there won't be any direct references," says Pawan. He however admits that the idea originated from the on-going case. "However, the film will not delve into the specific case. It borders on the supernatural and doesn't touch upon the legal space."
He adds, "I will be meeting members of the Bishnoi community to understand the intricacies of their lives. Their point of view has never been put across in a mainstream Hindi film. It's an ensemble cast and we are still in the process of finalising the actors".
"The film will be shot in one start-tofinish schedule near Jodhpur and should roll in February," he adds.
