PADMAAVAT had an excellent fifth week of 6 crore nett and this is still with Gujarat and Rajasthan missing and the film now has a total of nearly 276 crore nett. It is the sixth highest fifth week collections of all time and if we add the ratio for Gujarat and Rajasthan then it is fifth highest fifth week.

There was an attempt to release the film in Gujarat but it did not materialize. the film will still probably run for a couple of more weeks and should finish around the 280 crore nett mark. The share of the film will be around 130 crore and its recovery from all revenue sources will go close to 300 crore on the highest budget ever till date of 215 crore.

AIYAARY grossed 1.25 crore nett in its second week to take its total to 17.50 crore nett and the film is out of most theaters.

PAD MAN grossed 3.25-3.50 crore nett in week three to take its total to around 79 crore nett in three weeks. The film will finish in the 80 crore nett range.

PADMAAVAT had another solid weekend with business close to 4 crore nett which takes its lifetime total to 273.50 crore nett. The film has now broken records of all Hindi films except Bahubali - The Conclusion in most centers of Maharashtra and Nizam/Andhra. The fair value of Mumbai circuit is 110 crore nett while likes of TIGER ZINDA HAI, DANGAL and PK all did under 105 crore nett. BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION was at another level with 185 crore nett plus.

The makers tried to get the film to be screened in Gujarat but it did not happen and now it is probably getting too late as another weekend has gone. The lifetime total of the film looks to be heading for around 278 and 280 crore nett on a best case scenario.

AIYAARY was very poor as it grossed 75-80 lakhs nett to take its ten day total to 17 crore nett. The film will fold at around 17.50-17.75 crre nett.

PAD MAN grossed around 2-2.25 crore nett to take its total to nearly 78 crore nett in 17 days and this film will close at around 80-81 crore nett.

AIYAARY is a box office disaster as it grossed around 16.25 crore nett in its first week. The film started poorly and could not do much over the weekend and then collections came down very fast over the weekdays. The occupancy was very low over the weekdays which has led to limited shows in week two with multiplexes giving it just one or two shows and that too in metros. In the rest of the country it is practically out and the film will not reach the 20 crore nett mark.

The Hollywood release BLACK PANTHER has done pretty well with first week business of 31 crore nett apprx. The film started very well and even held well on Monday but the falls were likely as the collections were better than the appreciation of the film as far as India goes.

The film will probably see a drop over the second week but it has still done well enough in the opening week  to emerge a success and is a Semi Hit/Average fare

PAD MAN saw a drop of 78% in its second week. The film has done pretty well in places like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata where collections match a 100 crore nett plus film like JOLLY LLB 2 released at the same time as PAD MAN last year but its the core Hindi markets which have not really performed for the film.

In the Mumbai city/Thane belt PAD MAN has collected 11.25 crore nett in two weeks while JOLLY  LLB 2 had grossed 11.50 crore nett in two weeks but In Delhi city its a huge gap with JOLLY LLB 2 at 9.50 crore and PAD MAN at 6.50 crore nett. The first two week collections of PAD MAN are as follows

PADMAAVAT did very well in week four with collections of 13.25 crore nett which is the fourth highest week four ever after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, 3 IDIOTS and DANGAL though on fair value its higher than 3 IDIOTS and DANGAL because if it was screened all over India, it would have collected 16.25 crore nett. PAD MAN trended well in its second weekend with good growth on Saturday and Sunday but the collections are low for the second weekend. The film had a 8.75 crore nett weekend which has taken the business of the film to around 71 crore nett.

The film has basically behaved like an urban film despite having Akshay Kumar and a small town setting and films like this have a limit on business and PAD MAN is no different. The film has grossed around 24 crore nett in Mumbai and 14.50 crore nett in Delhi/UP after ten days. The Mumbai performance is pretty good but Delhi/UP is not up to the mark.

PAD MAN continued with ordinary collections on its second Monday of around 1.50 crore nett. The film has managed to collect as much as the new release Aiyaary on its second Monday but it has to be noted that PADMAAVAT on its fourth Monday has also caught  PAD MAN.

The second week collections of the film will gross around 14 crore nett which will take the film to around 76 crore nett and then it should go a little over 80 crore nett from there on. The film has decent figures in some parts of the country but the markets like North and Central and Bihar where Akshay Kumar films are strong have not performed. The film has done better in Mumbai and South.

PAD MAN showed good growth on its second Saturday of 50% but the drop on Friday has meant collections at a lower level. The film collected 3 crore nett on its second Saturday and now has total of 67 crore nett approx in nine days of release.

The performance of the film continues to be better in places like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and even Kolkata but other markets like North, Gujarat and Central where Akshay Kumar films normally do better have not collected too well. A Mysore is collecting just 25% less than East Punjab when the normal gap is 50% or even more.

PAD MAN had a drop on day eight as it collected 2 crore nett and took its eight day to around 64 crore nett. The film is probably going to close around the 80 crore nett mark which is a fair total for a film on this subject but the industry expected more due to the huge success of TOILET - EK PREM KATHA.

The business of PAD MAN has mainly come due to the presence of Akshay Kumar and the difference between PAD MAN and TOILET - EK PREM KATHA is the latter was more mass appealing with good humour and was generally a louder film while PAD MAN was more subtle.

The film had to go above 3 crore nett on the second Friday to emerge a solid hit but fell well short and this was also the film which got hurt most by the opening of BLACK PANTHER which took over the centres (metros) where PAD MAN was doing its best business.

PAD MAN had a decent first week of 62 crore nett as it held well on the weekdays after a very average start. The film jumped very well on Saturday but could not follow up on Sunday as families in places like Jaipur and Kanpur did not really come and this is the audience that can really push a film.

The film took advantage of the partial holidays to hold up well midweek and the drop came on day seven which was always likely. The weekdays held well but places that can sustain well in the long run like Punjab, Delhi, UP and Gujarat are not the drivers of the film. It is doing comparatively better in places like Mumbai and Bangalore.

The eighth day is the test for the film with competition from a new release and a strong holdover film. The film is a success but will have to show just a 10-15% drop from Thursday to emerge a solid HIT. Normally films drop more when a new film comes but there are case of no drop as well but generally those films open at around half the range of PAD MAN.

PAD MAN got another boost on Wednesday due to a partial holiday in some states for Mahashivratri and it was Valentines Day which helps collections. The film collected a healthy 7 crore nett on day six which takes it total to 58 crore nett plus. The film has jumped on Tuesday and Wednesday and the collections are 22% higher on Wednesday than on Monday. The film has done very well on the weekdays till now but the first test will be Thursday.

Then there will be the crucial eighth day which will tell where the film is going. There will be a three way battle with AIYAARY and the holdover PADMAAVAT fighting PAD MAN. The film is a success but t will day eight that will tel if the film can become a HIT.

The film has done well to come this far as its a slow paced film and now it will be about holding well enough over the second weekend,

PAD MAN also showed an uptrend like PADMAAVAT on Tuesday due to Mahashivratri holiday at places. The film collected 6 crore nett on Tuesday to take its five day rotal to over 51 crore nett. The gains were a little less than PADMAAVAT as it was collecting at a higher level. PADMAAVAT went up by around 10% while PAD MAN went up by 5%.

There is a holiday for Mahashivratri today as well and Valentines Days also which will aid the film again though it may not be the normal Valentines Day growth as some of that growth will have been factored into collections on the Monday partial holiday. The week is going over 60 crore nett but by how much will depend over the next two days.

PAD MAN is contining to do well in Mumbai and Pune although the collections were helped as it was a partial holiday in Maharashtra on Tuesday.

North India did not have a holiday but collections held pretty well there with a drop of around 5%. The other places like Bihar and CI are showing low collections but that is always going to happen with this type of film which does not have anything for the mass audience barring the presence of Akshay Kumar.

PAD MAN has held on well on Monday with a drop of 40-45% from Friday as it grossed around 5.75 crore nett which has taken its four day total to 45 crore nett plus. The weekend trend was good but Sunday did not really go through and it could have dropped more on Monday but this is a solid showing on Monday.

There will be holiday period over the next two days with Mahashivratri on Tuesday but the holidays will be spread over two days with some states having holiday on Tuesday and others on Wednesday so its hard to tell how this will reflect on collections. It could be the jump comes on Tuesday and the Wednesday holds or the major growth comes on Wednesday.

The film has been appreciated in the metros like most other concept films so eventually there is a limit to how far these films can as there is a limited audience.

The performance where most Akshay Kumar films do well like Punjab, UP and Rajasthan is less than normal but likes of Bangalore and Pune are scoring much better than a TOILET - EK PREM KATHA or JOLLY LLB 2.

PAD MAN picked up well over the weekend from a fair start. The film has recorded business of around 39.50 crore nett over the weekend and shown Saturday growth of 35% apprx and Sunday growth of 20% apprx. The Sunday growth could have been more but with a film on this subject there is always a chance that the smaller town family audience may not come.

The Sunday growth is still more than the regular metro film and now it will be about the weekdays. There are two partial holidays to bump up the collections. Although Valentines Day is not an official holiday it acts like a holiday as far as box office concerned and shows a good jump in business. The film has done better than TOILET - EK PREM KATHA over the weekend in places like Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore though obviously most places are less.

The trend of the film is very similar to AIRLIFT though at a slightly lover level. That film had gone from 11.12 crore nett on day one to 42.50 crore nett. Here PAD MAN has gone from 10 crore to 39.50 crore nett. TOILET - EK PREM KATHA had a stronger trend because it held more appeal for smaller cities.

The difference is AIRLIFT was being driven by Delhi NCR and Punjab over the weekend and the Mumbai come on over the weekdays. Here it is the opposite and it will be down to Delhi NCR and Punjab holding up stronger over the weekdays.

PAD MAN did well on ts second day as it showed very good growth of 35% to collect around 13.50 crore nett and take its total to 23.50 crore nett. There are not many films that have opened to the 10 crore nett mark or higher and showed growth of 35%.

This sort of growth normally comes with films opening at a lower level. The film showed huge growth in Mumbai circuit where traditionally social films do better and this will probably be the case for PAD MAN. The film also has better numbers than TOILET - EK PREM KATHA in South India. North India is less despite Akshay Kumar who is strongest in the North but the subject holds less appeal for the North Indian audience especially Punjab and UP. The Delhi NCR belt is collecting pretty well.

The growth of PAD MAN on Saturday is similar to JOLLY LLB 2 last year though as that film had a more audience friendly genre the collections are less. The Saturday growth of recent Akshay Kumar starrers is as follows with PAD MAN being second best after TOILET - EK PREM KATHA.

PAD MAN opened at 10 crore nett apprx with better collections coming in the metros. The mass centres did not collect well which was expected. The difference between the opening of this film and TOILET - EK PREM KATHA is the mass circuits like Rajasthan, CI and Gujarat.

Airlift was like PAD MAN in the above circuits but that film collected better than both TOILET - EK PREM KATHA and PAD MAN in the metros. The industry did expect a much bigger opening due to some elements which don't go by ground realities and maybe due to the pad promotion which is all over the web but when its box office only what the eyes see with the trailer registers with the core audience and this was a film about female menstrual problems which the core audience will not go to see on day one. The only way the opening could have come was a Republic Day holiday release which could have given 80-90% boost to its normal day but with PADMAAVAT there it could have gone badly wrong.

Despite this the first day number is decent and if the content can work there is potential of good growth over the weekend and then a holiday boost over the weekdays. The main issue is the content working with the family audience and the next few days will tell.
