Praising me shows Zayn Malik's own humility-Sonu Nigam

British singer Zayn Malik is a fan of singer Sonu Nigam’s song Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin from the 2012 film Agneepath. Recently, in an interview with Diet Paratha, the former One Direction member spoke about his favourite Hindi track and said, “My favourite Hindi song is Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin sung by Sonu Nigam. It is an incredible track and I would do no justice to it if I sing it. But maybe, at some point on my tour in the future, I might attempt it.”
Mention this to Sonu, and the singer says, “That’s so sweet. Zayn is a bright and talented singer. Because of Nevaan (Nigam; his son), I have heard a lot of his songs, including Pillowtalk, Dusk Till Dawn and A Whole New World. Praising me shows his own humility. I am all smiles.”
Penned by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by music director duo Ajay-Atul, the award-winning song was picturized on actors Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the film.

The singer says it was very important for his son to have a life away from the limelight

Living life in the public eye is not easy, something that singer Sonu Nigam took cognisance of very early on when he decided to send his son Neevan out of India.
“My son became a sensation in 2012 itself,” notes Nigam hinting at the time when a four-year-old Nevaan captured hearts of many when he recorded his own version of Dhanush’s popular track Kolaveri Di.
The singer further adds, “But if you make a big deal out of it then that is the problem. If I wanted to show my child around in every party and if I wanted my son to come out with new songs, then he would have been pressurized. As parents, we didn’t want to ruin and taint his childhood. I wanted him to have a normal childhood with friends; one where he doesn’t have to go for appearances, shoots and parties.”
Nigam, 48, says that was why he and his wife Madhurima decided to send him to Dubai to live and study there. “I wanted him to study and live in a country outside of India, which is not too far. Initially, we were planning to move to USA in 2009 as me and my wife are green card holders and my son is a USA citizen. But commuting from Los Angeles to Mumbai is very difficult. So I decided to give up the idea of living in LA. Dubai is closer to Mumbai,” he shares.
While he shuttles between his two homes, he is happy to have given a normal childhood to his son.
“We made sure to give him a normal childhood. Now his friends are Brazilians, Germans… something that I never got to experience in my childhood,” he concludes.
Sonu Nigam doesn’t want son Neevan to become a singer, ‘at least not in India’

Singer Sonu Nigam has shared that he doesn’t want his son Neevan to get into the Indian music industry, and has already got him out of the country. In an interview to Times Now, Sonu said that he “doesn’t want Neevan to be a singer and at least not in India”. He shared that Neevan is currently into gaming and is one of the top gamers in the UAE.
The 47-year-old singer said, “Frankly, I don’t want him to be a singer, at least not in this country. Anyway, he does not live in India anymore, he lives in Dubai. I have already got him out of India. He is a born singer but he has another interest in life. As of now, he is one of the top-most gamers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is a brilliant child with a lot of qualities and talent. And I don’t want to tell him what to do. Let’s see what he wants to do himself.”
