Brother-in-law Romeer Sen informs that the ailing actor is not home yet but is still undergoing treatment
Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 10, 2020)
Rahul Roy who was in Kargil for the shoot of one of his upcoming films, LAC, suffered a stroke. He was airlifted to Srinagar and from there to Mumbai, where he was admitted to the Nanavati Hospital for treatment. His family informs that now he has been shifted from Nanavati to another hospital.
“Rahul is not home yet, he has been shifted to the Wockhardt Hospital, of which he is the brand face. It’s a longer journey to recovery,” informs Rahul’s brother-in-law Romeer Sen, adding, “His physiotherapy and speech therapy are going on there with his neuro physicians supervising his treatment.”
Talking about the stroke, Romeer blames it on “sheer negligence”. “Rahul Roy did not stay back in Kargil after his shoot to enjoy the cold. All this will be cleared by him soon as he is on the road to recovery. All facts and figures will be furnished by his siblings, Priyanka and Rohit, with proof. Right now, we just want him to get well soon,” he states.
Talking about his future course of treatment, Romeer confirms that the doctors had suggested a stent on day one itself to prevent future attacks but says nothing is confirmed yet. “We are consulting the doctors even as he is recovering with aggressive medical management.”
His brother-in-law goes on to say that Rahul is not dependent on anyone for work. “He has been a sensation for 30 years and has not agreed to do any film currently,” he concludes.

THE TIMES OF INDIA (November 30, 2020)
Mumbai: Actor Rahul Roy, known for starring in the 1990 blockbuster ‘Aashiqui’, suffered a stroke and is recuperating at Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle. The 52-year-old actor, who was recently shooting in Kargil, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital on Friday, according to the insider.
“He was hospitalised two days ago after he arrived from Kargil,” a family source told PTI. He was airlifted and brought to the city. Doctors said that his condition was improving, although the hospital declined to comment on his health condition.
Roy made his Bollywood debut at the age of 22 in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed 'Aashiqui'. He also won the first season of the popular TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ in 2006.

Director Nitin Kumar Gupta confirms that the actor suffered a mini stroke in Kargil and is under treatment in a Mumbai hospital now
Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 30, 2020)
Rahul Roy had been shooting for his upcoming film LAC (Line of Actual Control) in Kargil since November 15. The Chitra Vakil Sharma and Nitin Kumar Gupta production wraps up today, but on Sunday it grabbed headlines following reports that the Aashiqui actor had suffered a microinfarct and had been rushed to Mumbai and hospitalised.
When Mirror reached out to producer-director Nitin in Kargil he informed that Rahul, who plays an army officer in the film, had finished his work on November 23 but decided to stay back for a few more days to enjoy the weather. He was supposed to leave for Kolkata on Saturday, but on Thursday when Nitin went in to meet him in his hotel suite, he observed that while Rahul was walking and doing everything properly, he was unable to form cohesive sentences. “Being a doctor myself, I suspected aphasia, which affects speech, and immediately took him to a local hospital for a CT scan. The doctors there didn’t say anything but I referred the reports to some doctor friends and one of them suggested it might be a mini stroke which does not get caught in a CT Scan, and recommended that we fly him to Mumbai for further treatment,” recounts Nitin.
Since the roads are blocked, Nitin arranged for a helicopter pickup, with the help of the District Magistrate and the local administration. Rahul was first flown to Srinagar and from there to Mumbai. He has suffered a Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) or thrombus in the Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA), leading to ischemia in the areas of the brain supplied by the left MCA, which includes the speech or Broca’s Area, leading to aphasia.
“He is currently being treated at Nanavati Hospital. I spoke to his sister and brother who are by his side, and he is stable. He was even asking when will we start LAC 2,” Nitin laughs, adding that Rahul will be kept under observation for at least 10 days but in two days, will be allowed to start walking around. “I've been paying for his medical expenses because of our friendship. We have done many films together, the most recent being The Walk, which we shot in July-August. I know as soon as Rahul recovers, he’ll want to pay the money back.” Nitin returns on December 4 and will immediately check up on Rahul.
Amitabh Bachchan returns home after 21 days in hospital, Abhishek yet to be discharged

THE TIMES OF INDIA (August 3, 2020)
Mumbai: After 21 days in hospital, superstar Amitabh Bachchan beat Coronavirus and returned home on Sunday. His actor son Abhishek (44), who was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle on the same day as his father on July 11, continues to be hospitalized due to comorbidities.
The 77-year-old veteran actor was discharged after his latest Covid-19 test came negative. An ambulance from the hospital dropped Amitabh to his Juhu bungalow, Jalsa, on Sunday evening. “I have tested Covid-, have been discharged. I am back home in solitary quarantine,” the senior Bachchan tweeted. He also thanked his friends, fans and particularly the hospital staffers for their support in helping him recover from the infection. Sources said the actor was not completely symptom-free and continued to suffer from body ache and weakness that is known to linger in many Covid patients.
Abhishek took to Twitter on Sunday to inform that he was still in hospital. “I, unfortunately due to some comorbidities, remain Covid-19 positive and remain in hospital. Again, thank you all for your continued wishes and prayers for my family…”
A day after Amitabh and Abhishek’s hospitalisation, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and eight-year-old daughter Aaradhya had tested positive on July 12. While they initially chose to self-isolate at home, they got hospitalised on July 17 after both developed fever. Both were discharged on July 27 after they tested negative, but continued to be quarantined at home. Amitabh’s wife and actor Jaya Bachchan had tested negative along with their daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and her family members.
Abhishek’s tweet that his father was discharged after a negative report once again underlined the question of repeat testing before discharge. A doctor involved in Covid care said patients can continue to test positive due to the residual virus in the body. “That can happen up to four weeks, but doesn’t necessarily mean the person is still infected or spreading the infection. One need not wait for a negative report if he/she is symptom-free. In cases where symptoms persist, we do carry out repeat tests,” the doctor said.

After news of Big B testing positive hit headlines, fans of the actor across the country conducted rituals to pray for his well-being. Bachchan's ardent fan, Sanjay Patola, who created a temple in Kolkata for the superstar, continually conducted a havan since his admission. "For me, Bachchan sir is God. As he has been discharged today, it is a big day for me," he told mid-day.

The BMC on Sunday sealed all four bungalows belonging to the Bachchans in Juhu after it was confirmed that four members of the family—Amitabh, son Abhishek, daughter-inlaw Aishwarya and granddaughter Aaradhya—have tested positive for Covid-19. While Amitabh and Abhishek, who have mild symptoms, are undergoing treatment at an isolation ward in Nanavati hospital, Aishwarya and Aaradhya tested positive on Sunday, but are asymptomatic.
According to BMC officials, the civic body has sought a written declaration from the actress, if she and her daughter want to quarantine at home or else, they too would be shifted to the hospital. Jaya Bachchan’s results, meanwhile, have come back negative but she will be tested again. Samples of 16 staffers have also been taken for Covid-19 testing, including the family’s security guards and house help. The results are expected today.
“There is enough space in Jalsa (the bungalow where the Bachchans reside) for the staff to be put in isolation. We are providing them with all the help,” a senior civic official told Mirror, adding that all four bungalows have been sealed and marked as containment zones. “Four sanitisation and health teams were formed to inspect and sanitise the bungalows and screen their staff. In all, 30 people, who came in contact with the Bachchans, have been identified as high-risk. Those with symptoms will be tested,” the official added.
Confirming the news, Vishwas Mote, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, K-West Ward, said, “All four bungalows of the Bachchan family — Jalsa, Janak, Prateeksha and Vatsa — have been sealed and declared as containment zone as per protocol. We are conducting contact tracing among all staff members, and till now, 30 have been identified as high-risk.”

Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 25, 2014)
Afractured shoulder and a wounded knee, SRK’s count of injuries has increased with the freak accident on the set of Happy New Year on Thursday which saw a wooden door descend on him.
But the actor will now have to drop the bravado as his physician has advised him complete bed rest.
A source close to him told Mirror, “Shah Rukh went through a fresh set of tests last night post the shoot. His right shoulder is fractured and the left knee patella is torn. Now doctors have advised him to take complete bed rest for the next three weeks.”
This means that Farah Khan will have to wait before saying ‘Pack Up’ on Happy New Year. The major sequences have already been canned but there some small portions which still need to be filmed. But Farah and SRK's co-stars, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani will have to wait as Shah Rukh recuperates.
The actor’s shoulder has proven to be his Achilles Heel and over the last couple of years, he has spent much time sporting a supportive brace.
As recently as last year he had injured his shoulder while filming an action sequence for Chennai Express and had undergone a surgery in Mumbai.
Earlier in 2007, Shah Rukh had injured his left shoulder for the first time while shooting a cameo in Dulha Mil Gaya.
The next year, he suffered another shoulder injury, thanks to a mistimed jump in My Name is Khan.
Shah Rukh’s knee too has been giving him plenty of problems since the 90s. He suffered a dislocated knee during a running sequence in Rakesh Roshan's Koyla, but he soldiered and completed the shoot in Arunachal Pradesh. The problem aggravated when he was shooting for his home production RA.One in 2010 and he had to undergo a small surgery to correct the problem.
We can only say, get well soon SRK!

When Shah Rukh Khan met an accident on Thursday during a shoot for his film Happy New Year, the mishap was described as a minor one. But HitList has now learnt that King Khan has injured his shoulder as well and might have to undergo a second shoulder surgery.
An eyewitness recalls how a heavy door fell on the actor during his shoot. “SRK ducked but couldn’t escape the blow. Not only did he get a gash on his forehead, but he also hurt his right shoulder which had been operated upon last year," says the eyewitness.
Sources close to the actor say that Shah Rukh insisted on being inspected by Dr Sanjeev Desai, who had operated on the actor’s right shoulder last year. Dr Desai, however, says that the actor just needs to rest for a few days. “His shoulder bone has been bruised but there has been no damage to the portion I had operated upon. I have his MRI in front of me and I don’t think he will need a surgery. But yes, he will have to take it easy for a few days,” said Dr Desai.
The twitter-savvy actor made it a point o reach out to fans as well. “Have a few tests to do & Insha Allah, all will be good. Few scars maybe. Will show them off cos as they say, there r no scars for happiness,” ( sic) read SRK’s post.

Rushed to Nanavati hospital immediately, the actor however, didn’t need any stitches for the injury resulting from the door that fell on him. Abhishek Bachchan and Sonu Sood were with him throughout. After the treatment, SRK returned to resume the shoot, but those around could sense his discomfort.
Says a source from the unit, “SRK felt pain in his shoulder and knees. He had his left arm in a sling, which he would remove every time he faced the camera. He also got bruises on his knees when he fell because of the door falling on him. He had trouble walking, but he managed to shoot his scenes.”

Shah Rukh Khan was shooting for his home production Happy New Year in a suburban hotel on Thursday noon, when bad luck struck. The 48-year-old actor, along with Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani, was filming in the ground floor of the hotel. The sequence required them to walk out from the reception hall to the lobby. Director Farah Khan canned the shot in the first take but SRK insisted on a retake. Five minutes later, all hell broke loose.
An eyewitness told Mirror, “The actors returned back to their position and Farah called action. Abhishek, Sonu and Boman were walking ahead and Shah Rukh followed a few feet behind. Suddenly an unhinged door collapsed on him and he was on the floor.”
Farah, who was sitting behind the monitor, ran towards Shah Rukh without even calling ‘cut’. Crew members also rushed to where he lay and picked up the door off him. “They saw blood oozing from his head, his shoulder was wounded as well,” the source added. “So he was rushed to Nanavati hospital.”
Gauri Khan was informed of the incident and she rushed from the couple’s Bandra bungalow Mannat to the hospital. She reached the hospital before her injured husband and was by his side as he left around 4 pm. From the hospital, SRK headed straight to the set to complete the scene disturbed by the errant door. The crew were waiting anxiously for him and as soon as they spotted their hero, they all clapped and cheered.

We used an ice pack to stop the bleeding and he was then rushed to Nanavati hospital for immediate treatment.”
