BATTI GUL METER CHALU had a very ordinary week of 31.50 crore nett and the holds on the weekdays are not strong enough to suggest the film can hold up in its second week. The competition from SUI DHAAGA will further damage the film.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU had a decent hold on Tuesday as collections hardly dipped from Monday and if the film can have a repeat on Wednesday then it may still have a chance for some sort box office run. Wednesday is a day which has seen drops even for the bigger films this year.

The film has so far collected 27.25 crore nett in five days and could be a first week of 32 crore nett depending on the next two days. The next two days will determine if the film has any chance in week two.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU fell on Monday as it collected 2.75-3 crore nett on Monday. The fall is more than 50% from Friday but it was Muharram on Friday which gave collections a 15-20% boost. So in real value the drop is a little less than 50% but the important factor is that the collections are only around 3 crore nett when the film needed to be 4 crore nett.

The collections of the film are now 24.50 crore nett and will finish the week around 32 crore nett. The film had good non theatrical revenue which had covered 60% of the investment and despite theatrical business being poor it should cover the rest. Its a given that with satellite and digital the film will not face losses despite doing poor at the box office and this has happened with many films this year.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU was below the mark in its first weekend though the growth on Sunday was held back by the big India vs Pak cricket match. The film grossed 21.50 crore nett in its first weekend which is not good enough.

The film is very much dependent on a strong hold on Monday and the normal 50% drop will mean the film having little chance at the box office. It has to drop only 30-40% but that is a big ask as day one was a partial holiday.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU showed limited growth of around 15-20% but that was expected as the film was boosted by the partial holiday on day one. The film probably had a 1 crore nett boost on the first day so in real this jump is around 35-40%.

The collections still remain low but it still has an outside chance if Sunday can grow well and the film can go to double digits which can mean decent weekday holds. The two day business of the film is 13.50 crore nett.

MANTO is poor at the box office. The film managed to grow 50% on day two but is not going anywhere as numbers are too low. It needed to double up at least on day two just for some respectable numbers.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU had a low opening day as it collected 6.25 crore nett on day one and these collections came on Muharran which would have boosted collections by 20-30% so real value could be around 5 crore nett but that will be determined by where the film heads on Saturday and Sunday.

The film did not have much going for it with a very average looking film from every angle. The biggest hope was that it was holiday release which gave it solid platform on day one but that has not happened as the first day business is on the lower side.

BATTI GUL METER CHALU is the sixth highest opening day for Shahid Kapoor but that 10 crore nett mark from a solo film is eluding him. The first day collections are less than MAUSAM which was released seven years back and was a flop.

The film has also opened lower than Shraddha Kapoor's last film STREE which opened over 6.50 crore nett and was a lower budget film. It is also the sixth highest opening day for Shraddha Kapoor.

It remains to be seen what happens on Saturday but the growth will be limited or could not even come as it all depends on how much was the boost for Muharram.

MANTO which had release problems managed to make it just in time but collected just 45-50 lakhs nett. Here also the real value is lower and though it's a film mainly for high end multiplexes it could get some growth on Saturday. But still from this starting pointing it does not have much of a chance at the box office.
