Kesari Chapter 2 collects 90.50 cr in 40 days; 143.75 cr worldwide

KESARI CHAPTER 2 has collected 143.75 crore worldwide till date and will finish with a final total of 145 crore apprx. The film is looking to finish with 91 crore nett in India and a little over $4 million in the overseas market. Overall its a decent performance at home and abroad. Although its a sequel by name only, as its nothing like KESARI (2019), the title has aided the box office in India and Overseas.
The overseas performance has been let down a little by the US market which could have done a lot better as the film is a more for the gentry audience and these tend to perform in US. Normally a Hindi film that scores well in Mysore tends to score in US but its not been the case and it could be down to the recent Akshay Kumar films in this zone not doing well.
The film has done better in Canada than US with Canada being around $100k better as here the KESARI sequel factor played its card and its the same as in Australia. These are Punjabi dominated areas and KESARI (2019) was a liked film here. In India, the better performance is NCR and Bangalore. The good business in Gurgaon and Chandigarh has meant a decent number in East Punjab though other centers did not perform that well.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a steady fourth week as it collected 5.50 crore nett which is a drop of under 40% from last week. The overall total of the film is 87 crore nett and it can still add well from as there are still another three weeks until the big release, HOUSEFULL 5. The obstacle will come on Saturday with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING as that could blunt growth.
The film has done its best business in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Mumbai circuit stands at almost 26 crore nett and should have done better considering the film is mainly for the gentry audience. Mumbai city is fine but other areas could have done better and that includes Pune and Thane. Gujarat/Saurashtra was low from day one.
The film will hang around cinemas for a few weeks yet and although the 100 crore nett mark probably looks out of reach it could hit the 95 crore nett mark at the end of its run which would make the film a success and Semi Hit. The lack of mass appeal was always going to limit the numbers but the film has done well to get into this 90-100 crore nett range.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a steady fourth weekend despite collections being affected by the conflict issues on Friday and on Saturday also but to a lesser extent. Sunday saw business pretty much back to normal and KESARI CHAPTER 2 saw a good jump on Sunday especially considering its a film for urban multiplexes mainly.
The drop in the fourth weekend is only 40% and now with the issues around the conflict settling down it could go on a decent little run from here as there are no releases for a few weeks. Bhool Chuk Maaf did not release this week and with legal issues around it there is a thought that the film will have to release in theatres but that seems unlikely leaving May empty. There is Mission Impossible this week which has good advances but they are more tilted towards South India.
KESARI CHAPTER 2 has collections of 85 crore nett so far and Monday should hold well in comparison to Friday which had lower collections due to the conflict. The film is a success and remains to be seen where it ends.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 held up well on its forth Monday due to a partial holiday for Buddha Purnima. The collections are pretty much the same as Friday and it takes the total of the film over 85 crore nett. The fourth week of the film is heading for a decent 5 crore nett which would a be drop of little over 40% week on week.
The film has done its best business in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Mumbai circuit stands at 25 crore nett and should have done better considering the film is mainly for the gentry audience. Mumbai city is fine but other areas could have done better and that includes Pune and Thane. Gujarat/Saurashtra was low from day one.
The film will now manage to hang around till the release of HOUSEFULL 5 and that should take the film over the 90 crore nett mark. The collections are at low levels but will continue to trickle and it could add another 7-8 crore nett. The film started with 7 crore nett on a holiday and now is a looking at 90 crore nett which is a good result from the start it took. The film is a success though appreciation is limited. There will be a huge Hollywood release this week with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING but it should not make much difference to KESARI CHAPTER 2. The advances are good for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE but more so in South India.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had fair collections on its fourth Friday as it collected around 60 lakhs nett. The film had seen a very good hold in week two but then there was a drop of almost 70% in the third week due to the release of RAID 2. The film will now see a better hold in the fourth week but it is dependent on external factors as no one really knows how collections are going to behave in this scenario.
Normally you would expect the film to double up on the Saturday with collections at these levels but its hard to tell. The evening collections are not just affected in the border states but other places as well which can be seen in the collections on Friday. It did not have that evening push which is the norm on Friday evening and it can be the same again today.
The film stands at over 81 crore nett and can target a total around the 90 crore nett mark as it should hang around until the next big release which is some time away. The best circuits for the film are Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Mysore with others showing low results. Mumbai has been hit by a dull Gujarat and generally poor Maharashtra outside Mumbai city and Pune.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a good second week as it collected almost 28 crore nett in week two which is a very good hold considering a 45 crore nett first week and that too with a holiday. The drop is only 37% which is a very strong trend in week two. The film has managed to cover ground as it stands at 73 crore nett after two weeks.
The film is now the third best performer for Akshay Kumar post pandemic after SOORYAVANSHI and OMG 2 as it just edges past the collections of RAM SETU (not counting SKY FORCE for certain reasons, KESARI CHAPTER will also not reach the numbers of SKY FORCE but there is a difference in numbers and collections).
Despite a low first week KESARI CHAPTER is now on a good run but RAID 2 will come as a road blocker and it remains to be seen how much of a road blocker it is. The collections held up well enough on the Thursday but the holiday factor compensated the new release factor. The third Friday is likely to determine the lifetime business of the film.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 saw a drop in collections on the third Friday which was expected as it had competition of RAID 2. The Thursday had held up well enough but that was due to the partial holiday which compensated for the competition. The collections of the film stand at a decent 74 crore nett and it can still add around 10-15 crore nett from here which is a fair result.
The collections could have dropped below 1 crore nett on its third Friday and its done well to stay above that mark though there was the BOGO offer in play on Friday which would have helped somewhat. KESARI CHAPTER 2 has found appreciation in places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai city and Bangalore and these centers will keep it afloat for the next few weeks.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a fair third weekend as it collected 5.75 crore nett. The collections of the film are heavily down from the second week but that was going to happen due to the release of RAID 2. Moreover, RAID 2 has score very well at the box office which makes it even harder for KESARI CHAPTER 2.
KESARI CHAPTER 2 managed to get good growth on Saturday and Sunday though Saturday could have been better considering its target audience. The film remains best in Bangalore and Delhi NCR followed by Mumbai city. The business in Mysore should hit 9 crore nett which would make it the third highest grosser in the circuit for an Akshay Kumar starrer, the 10 crore nett films MISSION MANGAL and GOOD NEWWZ being the only bigger films.
Mysore is by far the best performing circuit as no other circuit will have numbers at the level of a OMG 2 or AIRLIFT. The film has not done well at all in the Hindi mass circuits but that was on the cards with the trailer mainly catering to gentry audience.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 has done good business on its second Friday as it collected around 4 crore nett as the film come into its own. A good second weekend and week were always on the cards as although the collections did not look strong over the weekdays, they were very steady and this was likely to tell in the second week.
The film had a buy one get one offer to help at places which it did but to a limited amount as where the film is doing best, the offer was not there. The film has shown a decent jump from Thursday and more than that, the fair value of first Friday is around 5 crore nett and here the second Friday is doing 4 crore nett; this tells about the trajectory of the film. Just a 20% drop in real terms from day one to day eight and the film will consolidate this on the second Saturday.
KESARI CHAPTER 2 has 49.50 crore nett on the board which is a low number but this should change over the next two days as the overall numbers also become much more respectable. The film was looking at a straight to OTT release around six months back and and to get even 50 crore nett up on the board after eight days is a very good result. It could have done with an audience outside the metros but that was always going to tough going by the zone of the film. Overall the film has done well.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 continued to score again in its second week as Saturday saw strong collections in the 7-7.25 crore nett range which takes the film to a healthy 56.50 crore nett. The growth on Saturday was excellent at 75-80% as it consolidated the hold on Friday. The film is looking at a 35% fall weekend to weekend and this is coming with a holiday on Friday for first weekend; this makes this 35% fall actually less.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 scored a good second weekend as it picked up almost 19 crore nett which is just a drop of just 35% from the first weekend and that was aided by a holiday on the first day. The total collections of the film are now 64 crore nett and by the end of the week it will be comfortably over 70 crore nett.
The film had a first week total which was on the lower side but now its making up ground and the two week total will be decent and it remains to be seen how the release of RAID 2 affects the film. Another open week and this film would have no doubt held up very well and would have had a good third week going by the trend in week two.
Now it remains to be seen how much the film can add post the second week. KESARI CHAPTER 2 continues to do far better business in circuits dominated by bigger centers like Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Mysore is the standout as a circuit due to Bangalore and Delhi NCR is also excellent but due to a poor UP, it does not make the circuit as strong as Mysore comparatively.

There is the discounted rate day on Tuesday which should hold collections and the second week is probably looking at 26-27 crore nett.
The second week will be good and will cover some ground for the low first week/ The film will be looking at a 72-73 crore nett total after two weeks and then it will be about what happens form there. The film opened at 7.5 crore nett on a Good Friday holiday and hence, it has done well to be standing at 70 crore nett plus after two weeks. However, it needs to run well post the second week.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 has scored well overseas as it heads for a $4 million plus total as collections stand at $3.50 million after thirteen days. The film has done well mainly in Australia and Canada though the US market could have been better. The US is normally in tandem in Mysore and with a strong Mysore, you would expect US to come on board but that has not really happened.
There was not much expectations in overseas as recent Akshay Kumar had seen very dull collections but the opening numbers itself came in higher than expected. The $4 million number is not huge or anything but this is above what was expected prior to release. The disappointment is the US market as it should have done better. Gulf is low but that was always likely. Canada will do more business than US which is rare and even more so for a film which has scored so well in Mysore circuit.
The worldwide collections of the film stand at around 115 crore and is probably looking at a 135-140 crore close.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a fair first week of 45 crore nett plus with the positive being collections holding up well over the weekdays. It may not look like this but if we take real value collections, then the Mon - Thu period has held in the range of 3.50 - 3.75 crore nett with Friday (day 1) probably being around 5 crore nett, if we take out the holiday.
The first week numbers are on the lower side for the film but the trend gives hope that it can make up some ground from here on and come with a decent final total. There is some appreciation in the bigger centres as NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai city did well and these are sure to see strong holds. The way the film is going in Mysore, it may be among the top 3-4 films of Akshay Kumar.
The film will get benefit of the buy one get one free offer in many areas on Friday though the better collecting areas do not have the offer which will ensure growth on Friday as compared to Thursday. The presence of Akshay Kumar means that the film has expectations and these numbers are not up to those expectations. But those expectations come because of the stardom and if we look at recent films in this zone, then this film has done far better.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 saw a little jump on Tuesday due to the discounted rates as it collected almost 5 crore nett. The film has a total of 38 crore nett over its five days which is on the lower side but the film has a good trend in the bigger multiplexes to collect well in the second week. It should show a strong hold in terms of the drop in week two even allowing for the shortened week with RAID 2 coming a day early.
The film is actually doing well especially considering the worth of the film in terms of reach and the track record of Akshay Kumar in films of this zone recently which have not even reached this mark in lifetime business. The issue becomes a film with a star always has expectations even if the potential is limited. On top of it, this film got a lot of praise in Mumbai be it the press, trade or industry and this circle starts expecting a big hit.
But the box office does not work that way as there is a different audience out there compared to Mumbai industry circles and for them, there will be issues in the film. Many will not even give it watch due to it being towards the niche side. This is reflected in initial numbers outside the metros. The film will face a drop on Wednesday post discounted rates but it will run well from its Wednesday level.
The Monday and Tuesday numbers are pretty much similar to the fair value day number of day one and it shows that the film is holding. The week is looking at a 45 crore nett total and it will be about the second week and the film should be targeting an under 50% fall. If it happens, then it can come out with a decent final total for the genre of the film. But as the industry became very positive on the film, it may not see it that way but that's a problem of judgement on the content for the film.

Taking the actual value of Friday of around 5 crore nett without the holiday factor, this collection is only under 30% down on Wednesday which is a good trend. Basically it is holding well at these levels. The first week collections of the film will be around 45 crore nett and the second weekend is crucial especially the jump in business on Saturday as it will be Saturday and Sunday where the film can add well to its total.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a good hold on Monday as it grossed in the 4.25-4.50 crore nett range. The drop is around 40% from Friday but that does not tell the complete picture as Friday was a holiday. Hence, the fair value would be around 5 crore nett instead of 7.50 crore nett. As a result, its a minimal drop and a strong trend for the film.
There are some multiplex chains which are seeing higher collections than they should be and will eventually have to come out of the picture. But even allowing for that its a good hold and the film is going to have a run in the major metros and a few other cities. The trend of the film is like a content film pre-pandemic though and its coming with a star in it which has not been seen for a long time.
The total collections of the film so far are 33 crore nett which are on the lower side but it will slowly make up ground. The film does not have the mass circuits on side which is why the collections are on the lower side. The film will do well on Tuesday due to the cheap rates and is probably looking at a first week total of around 45 crore nett. No doubt the coming weekend should see good numbers especially Saturday and its really about where the numbers can after the first week.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 had a decent weekend as it collected 29 crore nett. The film had started low on Friday but picked up well and saw a very good Saturday as collections jumped from the holiday Good Friday which is very rare. Sunday was always going to be harder as its about the mass circuits but still its got decent jump when could have easily been flat as the film has not been liked in those big Sunday growth areas of UP, Gujarat and the Central circuits.
The film is the best performer of recent Akshay Kumar starrers although it may not look like that because of Sky Force but that film was just numbers while here it is collections so the figures may look less than SKY FORCE but in realty they are higher and KESARI CHAPTER 2 has more audience support.
The negatives are no mass support though generally its been kept away from the smaller centres with a lesser release than other Akshay Kumar films. Nevertheless, the likes of Jaipur, Surat, Indore etc could have done much better and these sort of centres are so important for the box office. The best performance is no doubt Mysore followed by Delhi NCR and East Punjab also did well on Sunday.
The film should hold well enough on Monday though it may look like a drop as Friday was a holiday but from the fair value numbers of Friday it should be seeing a hold going by the trend and run well for a few weeks. After JAAT, the collections of KESARI CHAPTER 2 are also a positive especially if we take the Akshay Kumar factor and look at the genre of film which is not really audience friendly and on top a bit regional.
There is the sequel factor but today the audience are pretty much aware that its not a sequel in the real sense especially the target audience of the film which is from the metros and are well informed. But no doubt the name creates more awareness which has helped in some way getting more collections than had the film kept its original name.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 did well in overseas collecting around $1.8 million and there is another holiday on Monday which take over $2.1 million for the extended weekend. Only SOORYAVANSHI and BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN are better post pandemic if we take Akshay Kumar starrers and the latter is due to Gulf and an Eid release.
The top Akshay Kumar opening in overseas remains HOUSEFULL 3 at $3.8 million while the top grosser is GOOD NEWWZ at $10.50 million but both these films are of a different genre. The collections in overseas are more impressive than India especially if we take out Gulf but this can be due to the Easter weekend.
The weekend worldwide gross for the film is a healthy 50 crore. The US market could have done better but maybe it can hold better in the long run. If the film can come out with $4-5 million overseas it will be a good result.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 did well at the box office on day two as it picked up 9.75-10 crore nett which is around 30-35 % higher than the first day. But in reality, this jump is somewhere around 80-100% which is a huge positive for the film and gives its strong trend. The film is mainly for the metros but post pandemic, this sort of thing has not happened especially when a star has been involved in a film.
It has been a huge struggle for films catering to the gentry crowd but here, the trend suggests its different and the film can do well in the long run. The two day numbers are 17.50 crore nett which is fair but with this trend, it can easily cover ground and do well in the final. A lot does depend on the holds over the weekdays but a film which jumps like this from Good Friday should hold well.
KESARI CHAPTER 2 should do well enough on Sunday but the story of this film will what happens from Monday onwards. It has good two week run to rack up the numbers as long as Monday is good. The film is excellent in Mysore with almost 2 crore nett up in just two days.

KESARI CHAPTER 2 picked up on day one as it collected in the 7.50 crore nett range which is on the lower side but momentum is with the film and that is a huge plus. It was a holiday and hence, the collections could have been better but with this genre and zone, it is a struggle as the Hindi circuits don't contribute much. Its the same story with KESARI CHAPTER 2 as Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore getting good to decent collections while the rest are low.
The film has managed a better opening than recent Akshay Kumar starrers thought those cant really be the target as some have been very low. But even if we take out the holiday factor, the film is comfortably higher than the likes of SARFIRA, KHEL KHEL MEIN and MISSION RANIGANJ. But as mentioned above, these films are not the target and basically its an okay opening day due to the momentum of the film though still not in sync with the star status of Akshay Kumar.
The momentum of the film should continue on day two as the film will push higher and that is a huge positive as the film is growing from a holiday albeit from a number on the low side. This basically gives the film a chance at the box office and a chance of double digit number on Saturday and if not, it should be there on Sunday. The collections are also organic which is not the case with many films post the pandemic.
