KEDARNATH has managed a decent run despite a heavy flow of releases post its release. The film has managed to hang around for 8 weeks and collected 70 crore nett. The film is AVERAGE due to a lackluster opening but has trended well to get this far.

It managed decent numbers in Mumbai (20.59 cr), Delhi/UP (16.17 cr) and East Punjab (7.21 cr).  The Mumbai numbers are the surprise considering it is a UP film without a big star. The ratios are very similar to MANIKARNIKA - THE QUEEN OF JHANSI with a better performance in Mumbai but less in the Central belt.

The film did around $2 million (14 cr) in overseas which gave it a worldwide gross of a little over 100 crore at 104 crore.

The film will add a healthy 1.75 crore nett in week four and probably finish near the 70 crore nett mark. The film was written off at the time of release but has found appreciation. The lackluster opening means its not done as well as it could have done at the box office.

In terms of Tamil industry the film is way above anything that industry has ever seen and will probably be that way for the forseeable feature.

KEDARNATH had the strongest trend on Monday of all films running as its collections showed growth of 65-70% from its Friday numbers. The film has found appreciation and if the collections don't match the appreciation its mainly down to a lackluster opening and then an abrupt end to its run due to new Xmas releases. The film dropped only 53% in its second week and it was a universal trend except Nizam/Andhra and even in third week the collections will come despite limited screens.

The film will cross the 65 crore nett mark today and there has been this fiasco with the reviews of ZERO but this film shows even a film which is more towards content can still run with negativity from these so called reviewers. The public always has a better judgement and always will as its consolidated.

The film has done decent business though could have done with a better start. Still its a solid total for the film and not many would have expected to this film to go to 65 crore nett apprx.

KEDARNATH did well in its second week as it picked up 18.75 crore nett apprx. This takes the total business of the film to 61 crore nett. The drop in the second week is 55% which is very good trending though it will be stopped in its tracks by the release of ZERO.

The second week is better than films like VEERE DI WEDDING, PARMANU and PAD MAN. The film is at around 17.50 crore nett in Mumbai circuit and at around 14 crore nett in Delhi/UP. Generally all circuits have done decent be it Mumbai or Assam. It remains to be seen where the film goes as the screenings have dropped to 1 or 2 shows at the big multiplexes.

KEDARNATH had another solid hold as its Tuesday collections was similar to Monday. The film has now collected 57.50 and will comfortably cross the 60 crore nett mark by the end of the week. The second week business will be around 18.50 crore nett.

This will mean a second week better than films like VEERE DI WEDDING, DHADAK, PARMANU and PAD MAN. The collections of the film are pretty decent in all circuits. Even a circuit like Bihar will do around 2 crore nett business in the final run.

The lifetime of KEDARNATH depends on the screenings it gets on Friday. Normally a 70 crore nett total would be there but with ZERO and SIMMBA coming in the next two weeks it will not add much.

The second week is probably heading for business of over 18 crore nett which is good considering the first week was 42 crore nett. The week on week drop is looking to be 55% and this film could have gone to a 70 crore nett plus total if there were not back to back big films like ZERO and SIMMBA coming out over the next two weeks. The 55% weekly drop trend could go to 75% or even 80-90% in week three and week four.

KEDARNATH has held well in its second weekend with collections of 11.50 crore nett. The drop is less than 60% from the first weekend which is a solid trend. It takes the ten day total of the film to 53.50 crore nett and it will comfortably cross the 60 crore nett mark.

The film could even go past 60 crore nett by the end of the week and it should be able to add a little more post the release of ZERO. The film has done pretty well in most circuits though its Mumbai and Delhi/UP which lead. The collections in Mumbai are around 16 crore nett and Delhi/UP is around 12 crore nett over the first ten days.

The film is the highest grossing film of Sushant Singh Rajput already if we take out M S DHONI - THE UNTOLD STORY. The film has crossed the 46 crore nett of SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE which came in 2013. The film was generally not expected to do well but will end up doing decent business. If Monday and Tuesday can show decent figures it can get some screens post the release of ZERO.

The film is doing its best business in the Delhi NCR belt and is a surprise success of 2018. The film should show good growth over the weekend and have a decent second weekend.

The results of KEDARNATH in week one are better than most would have expected but it is still very important to follow through in the second week as the first week is just a decent total and not huge which would ensure the film is a success

There are a few Hindi releases like BHAAGTE RAHO and ONCE AGAIN among others but the main competition will be AQUAMAN which had decent collections in paid previews and could do well over the weekend which will give KEDARNATH competition.

KEDARNATH remained steady on Tuesday as it dropped around 10% from the previous day with collections of 3.75 crore nett. The film is still doing more than 50% of its first day business which is decent for the weekdays.

The film is a little short of 36 crore nett in five days and is probably looking at a week of 42-43 crore nett in week one. These are fair numbers and it remains to be seen where the collections land up on Friday. There will be no competition from Hindi films but there will be a big Hollywood release with AQUAMAN which will get a good release.

The film is still managing to stay above 2.0 (Hindi) which looked tough after 2.0 (Hindi) went ahead on Sunday. 2.0 (Hindi) was around 50 lakhs nett ahead on Sunday but on Tuesday KEDARNATH is 75 lakhs nett ahead. So there has been some appreciation for this film in some pockets.

The collections have held well in most circuits with Delhi/UP being best with a 30% drop only. It managed to be around 1 crore nett

Its a good result for the film on Monday as Sunday did not really show much growth so it looked like mass and family audience did not really come. But it has come through on Monday and now it will be about holding through the weekdays. The first week should be in the range of 43 crore nett as long as there is no major drop over the next few days.

The Sunday growth for the film was limited as it collected 10.75 crore nett but still the first weekend has come out more than expectations. The film could not release in Uttaranchal which meant the film lost around 30-40 lakhs nett in the Delhi/UP circuit.

The film has the highest weekend ever for Sushant Singh Rajput leaving aside M S DHONI - THE UNTOLD STORY as it beat the figures of SHUDDH DERI ROMANCE which collected a little over 23 crore nett. The film also easily beat the numbers of BATTI GUL METER CHALU which was 21.45 crore nett but it was less than DHADAK which was 33.32 crore nett.

The film is about the Monday where the hold it has to good and it cannot afford to drop the regular 50% as the weekend is decent but its not a big weekend.

If Monday can hold then there are two weeks till ZERO for the film have a decent run at the box office. If Sunday had grown 25-30% rather than 10% then it probably certain that the film would have had at least a decent hold over the weekdays but now it remains to be seen.

KEDARNATH has done well on Saturday with collections of 9.75 crore nett apprx. The film has shown a solid jump of 35% on day two and takes its collections to 17 crore nett. This Saturday growth puts it on course so a solid first weekend.

It will be about the Monday for the film but the growth has come in all areas barring Rajasthan which had a sort of holiday on day one due to elections which means it has a decent chance to hold on Monday. The only thing it has to be a strong hold due to the lower side start on Friday.

If the film can show a similar trend on Sunday as Saturday then it will be a huge plus but it is always difficult to repeat the Saturday growth on Sunday. The film is managing to keep ahead of 2.0 (Hindi) in the second weekend.

KEDARNATH managed a fair opening day with collections in the 7-7.25 crore nett range. But its not really about the first day for this film but where it goes after the first day. It was a better than BATTI GUL METER CHALU and similar to films like RAAZI and BADHAAI HO though those films had smaller releases.

It is actually the biggest opening of the Sushant Singh Rajput beating the 6.30 crore nett of SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE. This is not counting M S DHONI - THE UNTOLD STORY as the driving force behind that film was not the stars but the cricketer himself. Its going to be about the growth over the weekend which should be there for the film but depends on what level. The regular 10-20% growth will probably not be good enough for a sustained run at the box office.

The positive is that opening day keeps the film in with a chance as a love story with such sort of music, this film could have registered much lower first day numbers.
