HICHKI has had a decent first week of 26 crore nett after a poor start when it released. The film picked up on Saturday and maintained very well on Monday and then towards the end of the week the holiday factor helped on Wednesday evening and Thursday.

The film has fared best in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore with West Bengal the best circuit comparatively. The first week figure of MARDAANI which was the last Rani Mukerji starrer was 22.94 crore nett . So the film is 14% up on that film in the first week.

There is BAAGHI 2 to contend with this week but that film has a different target audience and that limited audience for HICHKI in the metros may not be too interested in a film like BAAGHI 2. So it could still continue to go strong in week two. There is also the Good Friday holiday to help.

RAID has sustained well in week two with collections of 25.75 crore nett which is a 57% drop from the first week. the total of the film is now nearly 85.50 crore nett and the film has good chances of emerging a HIT as long as there is not a huge fall in the third week. The also got a boost on Wednesday evening and Thursday due to the holiday factor.

BAAGHI 2 will affect this film in the A centers but on Friday it will have the holiday to see it through to a decent number. The collections of RAID till now are as follows.

HICHKI has held on strongly on Tuesday with hardly any drop from the day before. The film is course for a 24 crore nett first week and then then day eight will decide where it can go. There is a big release with BAAGHI 2 but HICHKI is for a different audience so it could be that BAAGHI 2 does not affect it that much. The first five day collections of HICHKI are as follows

HICHKI had a good hold on Monday dropping 30% from the first day to record business of 2.25-2.35 crore nett range. This takes the business of the film to 17.50 crore nett and the first week will finish in the the 23-24 crore nett which is a  decent result for this film.

The film has done better than similar films of this range in terms of cost of like BAREILLY KI BARFI and TUMHARI SULU. Both these films were average fares so it could be that Hichki could be a notch or two higher but that it all depends on how its holds up over the next two weeks.

The film also did well in Gulf in its first weekend with business of $500k and is also set for China release towards the end of the year where it will have huge potential being a female orientated urban social drama. The China box office for Hindi films is being driven by a larger female audience and this film could do multiples of India there in terms of business.

HICHKI showed a good trend over the weekend as it grossed around 15 crore nett. The collections are nothing much but for these films its about staying in the race over the weekend. The film could have easily done just 10 crore nett or even under and it would have been over for the film.

The Saturday growth was 60% and there is always a chance with these type of films that this sort of growth can come on Saturday but the Sunday growth of 20-25% was apprx is solid for this type of a film and it could be that it has appreciation among the family audience in the bigger cities. But it was also Ram Navami on Sunday so the it could have been a little better for business than a normal Sunday

The collections are a good 25% higher than TUMHARI SULU and a little higher than MARDAANI (14.44 crore) in terms of NETT collections although GROSS is a little lower. So in real terms the weekend is less than MARDAANI. The weekend has kept the film in with a chance and the test will come in the weekdays which will decide if there is appreciation for the film to emerge a success or even a HIT.

HICHKI showed very good growth of 60% on Saturday as it collected 5.25 crore nett apprx. The film has collected 8.50 crore nett in two days which is not much but the trend is there to make some ground on the weekdays if Monday can hold up strongly.

The film is going to be driven by Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore as these markets are best. This was the case for TUMHARI SULU released last year and also MARDAANI released a few years back
