BHOOMI had a poor first week as it grossed 10 crore nett in its first week. The film has faced rejection all over and will not add much business in the second week. The film was set in UP and even the collections in UP are very dull be it multiplexes or single screens. 

HASEENA PARKAR was even worse than BHOOMI with business of 6.50 crore nett and most of it came from Mumbai circuit. The film fared worst than another underworld film DADDY released a few weeks back. It will probably close at around 7 crore nett.

NEWTON survived as it trended well over the week after a low start. The film collected 11.75 crore nett in the first week which is also low but this film has a chance to get to a decent total as second week should do healthy business. There is a holiday period so it will be no surprise if it can get near the first week business as the footfalls are not much till date and high end multiplexes can continue to get footfalls, not just in week two but after that also.

The holdover films SIMRAN and LUCKNOW CENTRAL fared poorly. SIMRAN grossed around 2 crore nett in its second week to take its total to 15.75 crore nett while LUCKNOW CENTRAL grossed around 1 crore nett to take its two week total to 11.50 crore nett.

NEWTON remained the best of the new releases as collection sheld at a similar level 1.25-1.30 crore nett level. In fact even BHOOMI and HASEENA PARKAR did not fall much but there collections are too low.

NEWTON will gross around 12 crore nett in first week and the second Friday will tell where the film is going. Normally a Monday higher than Friday means that a film should do at least double of its first week business. It remains to be seen where this film goes. NEWTON was the only film that held on Monday as both BHOOMI and HASEENA PARKAR fell more than 50% from Friday. NEWTON gained around 50% from its first day collections but the first day was very low. The film has more screenings now than it had on day one. It should now sustain well over the rest of the week and finish the first week witg business around the 12 crore nett range. The Hollywood film KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE has also not done well as it grossed around 1-1.25 crore nett on Monday

BHOOMI is a poor fare which started slowly and has not really gained much over the weekend. The collections are poor across the board and there is little hope for Monday. Five years back a film called DEPARTMENT released with Sanjay Dutt and Amitabh Bachchan and was a disaster but the collections for BHOOMI are even worse than that film. NEWTON has come out the top Hindi film of the weekend due to its very strong trend. The film has not collected much but there was a huge upturn on Saturday and the film consolidated on Sunday. The film got extra screens over the weekend as the other two films which had bigger releases fared so badly. On this trend the film should easily do more than its Friday business on Monday as Friday was so low but it is weekday business that will tell if the film has something to it or is it just that Oscar factor which has got it some collections.
