Rohit Shetty confirms that he will be directing Ranveer Singh. “I am going to direct Ranveer very soon. The film will go on floors after he completes Padmavati and Zoya Akhtar’s film. It is going to be a raw, action film.”

FLOPS GALORE
There is a lot of talk of big-ticket films failing at the box office, but Rohit isn’t worried. He explains, “It’s a phase and it has happened in the past too. I remember when we were making Golmaal Returns, the film industry was going through a lull period. This is just a phase and will not last. There is no need to panic and worry about what kind of films to make. This keeps happening every five years and I know it will end soon.’’

CLASH WITH AAMIR
Shetty is not worried about the clash with Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar. He said, "We have clashed with some film or the other on every Golmaal release. There are only 52 Fridays in a year, so clashes will happen. I have watched the trailer of Secret Superstar with Aamir Khan, it’s going to be a great film. Thankfully, the genres are different. Besides on Diwali, there is definitely space for two films."

NO BEBO
With the film almost complete, is there a chance of Kareena Kapoor Khan doing a cameo in Golmaal 4? Shetty said, "If I have to, I will do a whole film with her. Also, when you see the film, you will know why we needed a girl like Parineeti in this film."

Golmaal Returns was a crap film-Rohit Shetty

MUMBAI MIRROR (October 25, 2016)

Rohit Shetty's 2008 directorial, Golmaal Returns, may have been a blockbuster, but the director candidly describes it as a crap film. The comedy, featuring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi was a part of the hit franchise Golmaal.

He admits he gets a 'feeling' when things are going wrong. “My films are hardcore commercial films catering to a particular audience and you start getting that feeling that it won't work at that level. I have been right about this, twice or thrice,“ he reveals.

This is followed by a post mortem of sorts on what went wrong and how not to repeat the mistakes. “Even if it is a hit, the whole team sits together and we introspect. Golmaal Returns was the biggest hit of 2008 but we knew, it was a crap film,“ he said.

He went on to add that in Singham Returns, the character went wrong while in Dilwale the whole Kajol-Shah Rukh story was wrong. “You get to know where you are going wrong, then rectify things and move forward,“ Shetty signed off.
