Says a friend of the actor, “Shah Rukh has never shied away from laughing at himself. Even during the promotion of Dilwale he did spoofs and stand-ups on his own film.” It is generally believed that when it comes to themselves, Bollywood-wallahs have no sense of humour. A fact corroborated by Jatin Varma, founder and organiser of the Golden Kela awards, who informs that in its eight years of existence the only Golden Kela award winner sporting enough to accept is Sonam Kapoor. If Shah Rukh Khan actually came forward to receive his award, it would set a new precedent in self-deprecatory awards in Bollywood where each year hordes of awards functions humour and flatter the stars with redundant and ridiculous awards.

‘These are reality-check awards for us’
When told that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has won the ‘Manoj Kumar’ award for ‘historical accuracy’ in Bajirao Mastani, the director who has been collecting awards galore this year for the same film, laughed heartily and commented, “These are reality-check awards for us. We should not take them to heart. In Hollywood big stars and directors attend the Raspberry awards (the awards to honour the worst achievers) in the same season as the Oscar awards. Why can’t we do the same?”

Meanwhile...Shimit and SRK to come together after nine years?
Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh will be coming together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next production and the word in B-Town is that it will be directed by Shimit Amin. Shimit has earlier directed SRK in 2007 (Chak De! India) and his last film was Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year (2009). It will be interesting to see him directing Shah Rukh and Ranveer together. Hope it is a happier experience compared to when SRK and Varun came together.

Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor may have stumbled upon a unique record of sorts. The duo is the first actor-cousin jodi to score a twin win with the latest Golden Kela nominations, the Indian version of the Razzies.

Arjun, in the running for Worst Actor for Tevar this year, has been earlier named a contender for Gunday and his fashionista cousin for her 'over the top' acting in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Sonam has earned nods for Worst Actress for Aisha in 2011, for which she famously turned up to collect the trophy, and for 'Everything she did' in 2014.

The eighth Annual Golden Kela Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Delhi after the worst pieces churned out from Bollywood in the year gone by have been painstakingly picked out. Other notable nominees in the latest edition include, Arjun Rampal (Roy), Sooraj Pancholi (Hero), Imran Khan (Katti Batti) in the Worst Actor category, Sonakshi Sinha (Tevar), Shraddha Kapoor (ABCD 2), the entire female cast of Calendar Girls, Amy Jackson (Singh is Bliing) for Worst Actress, and Dilwale, Bombay Velvet, Shaandaar, PRDP and Singh Is Bliing for Worst Film, among others
