While fans of trance music in India swear by Armin van Buuren, looks like the world renowned DJ is a fan of apna Arijit Singh. A source tells mid-day that the Dutch DJ recently played Singh’s hit track, Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 (2013), during the latest episode of his weekly radio show, A State Of Trance. This is the first time that an Indian number has featured on the show that kick-started in 2001 and boasts of over 37 million listeners every week.

“It’s rare to hear an Indian tune on an international show that has trance lovers from all over the globe. Armin had British electronic music producer Gareth Emery for company as the two rehashed the Bollywood chartbuster,” says the source.

Before playing the chartbuster, Buuren said that it was dedicated to all his Indian fans. He said, “A little surprise for the Indian fans of the show – Indian superstar, Arijit Singh, with Tum Hi Ho remix by none other than Gareth Emery.”

Interestingly, Buuren may just meet the man behind the romantic ballad next month as the two are part of the Enchanted Valley Carnival’s (EVC) line-up in Mumbai. While the record producer will hit the stage on December 16, Singh’s gig is lined up for December 17. Speculations are rife that Buuren might spin Singh’s Bollywood chartbusters for his Indian fans.

India has emerged as a hotspot for international music artistes with the likes of The Chainsmokers, Justin Bieber and Coldplay performing in the country. Recently, mid-day reported that Arijit Singh is likely to be joined by renowned international artistes, DJ Khaled and Shawn Mendes at the fifth edition of the Enchanted Valley Carnival (EVC) in December.

Now, we have learnt that world renowned DJ-record producer Armin van Buuren will join Singh in the lineup. The king of Bollywood playback and the Dutch DJ are the headlining acts at the Lonavala-based festival this year.

A source says, “Both Arijit and Armin boast of a large fan base in India. The trance legend drove Indian EDM admirers crazy during his previous performances here and it’s a delight to have him back.”

Buuren, who has hits like In & Out Of Love, Another You and Waiting For The Night, played his first show in India in 2009. Since then, the trance icon has performed several times — his last being the Sunburn festival in December. This will mark Singh’s second consecutive association with the festival.

Shoven Shah, founder, EVC, says, “We’re elated to present the best of trance and Bollywood to music enthusiasts. Armin has been a personal favourite for years and I’m glad he’s performing at EVC for the first time.”

The annual Enchanted Valley Carnival (EVC), touted to be the country’s largest camping music festival, is poised to get bigger this year. The EVC will introduce an exclusive Bollywood stage this time round and will feature other popular genres such as international pop, electronica/dance music for the first time. We hear, Farhan Akhtar will play at the Bollywood stage with his band, Farhan Live.

The cherry on the cake, however, is that the festival promoters are in talks with the teams of American rapper Pitbull and English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding to headline the international pop stage.

What’s more, murmurs of Mike Posner of ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ and ‘Cooler Than Me’ fame being booked for the festival line-up. Additionally, the two-day event (December 17 and 18) has a age-no-barrier entry as opposed to previous years, making it a family fest ground.
