DE DE PYAAR DE 2 had a fair second week as it collected 16.50 crore nett dropping around 65% from the first week. Despite this decent hold, the film is not going anywhere. The collections have crossed 64 crore nett till date and it might reach 70 crore nett but that is just not good enough.

The first week was the killer for the film as 47 crore nett plus is just not good enough even though the hold is decent in the second week. It was helped by two new weak new releases in week two which is not the case this week.

The new films could not do much as 120 BAHADUR collected around 12 crore nett while MASTIII 4 was even worse with collections with 9.25 crore nett. The weekday collections were very dull for both films.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 had a fair second weekend as it collected around 11 crore nett which takes the film to 58.50 crore nett. The film can see a decent collection on Tuesday but eventually there is 65% drop in the second weekend. The trend will be pretty much the same over the week. The film could get up to 70 crore nett but it wont be easy with the flow of releases.

120 BAHADUR is a dull fare as it collected around 8.75 crore nett in its first weekend. The opening basically killed the film as it could not afford to start so low. A war film isessentially means larger than life characters. So, to have any chance to succeed, you need the talent which can pull this off which is not the case with this film.

MASTIII 4 is a also dud with collections of 6.25 crore nett over its first weekend. These sort of adult comedy films have to open as you will not be going up much over the weekend. The collections of the film will be less than last part of the franchise, GREAT GRAND MASTI, which released in 2016. That film picked up 8.50 crore nett over its first weekend.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 showed a good jump as collections almost doubled up from the previous day as it collected 4.25 crore nett. Its a solid jump on the second Saturday which takes the second weekend total to 6.50 crore nett and the overall nine day total to around 54 crore nett. It does not alter the fate as collections are on the lower side. So, getting 50 lakhs nett more than expectations hardly makes much difference. It remains to be seen if the film go up further on the Sunday.

120 BAHADUR collected 3.25 crore nett on Saturday adding to the 2 crore nett on Friday which gives the film a total of 5.25 crore nett. The growth is decent on Saturday but it had to be much more due to the low opening. The sort of growth needed was never going to happen. A war film essentially means larger than life characters. Therefore, to have any chance to succeed, you need the talent which can pull this off which is not the case with this film.

MASTIII 4 is a poor fare as it collected 2 crore nett on Saturday compared to the 2.25 crore nett collections on Friday. The two day collections are only 4.25 crore nett and its likely Sunday can go to the first day level on a best case scenario.

These sort of adult comedy films have to open as you will not be going up much over the weekend. The collections of the film will be less than last part of the franchise, GRAND GRAND MASTI, which released in 2016. That film picked up 8.50 crore nett over its first weekend.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 made some gains on Tuesday with collections of 4.50 crore nett which is expected due to the discounted rates. The jump is around 20% which is par for the course. This now takes the total collections of the film to 41.75 crore nett in five days.

There will be a drop on Wednesday but if the film can hold at the Monday level which will not be easy but it can give the film a chance to compete with the new releases on Friday. The new releases are not expected to open well. So, the target for DE DE PYAAR DE 2 can be to be the top film this week.

Obviously if one the new film gets some sort of initial, then it will be tough but a 2.5-3 crore nett second Friday for DE DE PYAAR DE 2 should put it in the mix though that will be not be enough to make the film a success. The first week looks to be heading for around 48 crore nett which is a low collections though its beats the lifetime of SON OF SARDAAR 2. On the other hand, it will be just 3 days of RAID 2.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 is a UK rebate film, much like he first part, which takes much of the risk out but its also one reason that that box office can stay as generally it means a UK setting or characters which relates less in the mass circuits especially post pandemic. Nevertheless, the returns are heavy from the rebate and so, these films will continue to be made.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 collected 47.50 crore nett its first week which is a low collection. The holds were not great and also, the collections came down to 2.75 crore nett on Thursday. If the film can do 2.75 crore nett or even a little more today, then it would be decent but that is a lot to ask for especially with two new films released.

DE DE PYAAR DE, in 2019, had collected 55 crore nett in its first week. This film is around 8 crore nett short and that is a considerable gap. The film has not really worked and now its just about hanging around for a few weeks. The film had to get the collections in the first week due the flow of releases and needed to be 60 crore nett at least.

The film has fared batter in the NCR pocket with Delhi city, Gurgaon and Noida getting good collections but even here, there were falls post the weekend. The 100 crore nett mark has become the benchmark for the genre and its proving pretty much impossible getting there even with the level of ticket rates today.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 dropped around 15% on day eight from the previous day which is decent in terms of the drop but collections remain low. There were two new releases and this makes this drop look even better. Nevertheless, the collections needed to be at a higher level.

The collections of the film were in the same range as the new releases but it should come out best on Saturday and Sunday as being a holdover film, it is likely to show the best growth and come out the top film this weekend. The performance remains 25-30% less than the film of the franchise and that is where the problem lies. The film had to get the collections in the first week due the flow of releases and needed to be 60 crore nett at least.

Its not that if had reached the business of the DE DE PYAAR DE (2019), it would be a big hit or something but a 90 crore nett plus total would have been very respectable for a genre and a successful film. Its going to be that same problem in the result that the content has not been totally rejected but the film just could not take an initial which could have made the total respectable.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 collected 33.50 crore nett over its first weekend which can be called a fair collection for the genre but the trajectory is not quite there for the film. The film did well to get to the 8 crore nett mark on the first day but needed the Saturday and Sunday numbers to be better especially the Sunday.

The Sunday could have done with a 20-25% jump which would have put the film in a better position but that jump in mass pockets was not good enough. The jump was there but these centres have the potential to jump 40-50% on Sunday and the problem here probably becomes less family and mass support.

The film has managed similar numbers as the first part released in 2019 which did 34.50 crore nett including paid previews. But occupancy and footfalls are less here which makes matching the business of the first part in the long run very hard. Basically these collections are decent for the genre post pandemic but they are not good enough for the cost of the film. Also, its not gone ahead of the first part though this has something to do with the value this genre holds today as compared to pre pandemic.

DE DE PYAAR DE (2019) collected around 5.75 crore nett on Monday and if this film can do that, then it can still do well but again Mondays are tougher now due to a small percentage of the Monday audience now shifting to the discounted Tuesdays.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 dropped on Monday with collections of 3.75 crore nett. The drop was on the wrong side of 50% as it fell around 55%; not that a 50% would have been good enough, considering the weekend numbers. The film stands at 37.25 crore after four days and it should get a life on Tuesday which is the norm now but that will not be enough.

The film was collecting similar to DE DE PYAAR DE (2019) over the weekend but the change has come on Monday as this film is 2 crore nett lower as that film had collected 5.75 crore nett on Monday. The week went to 55 crore nett for DE DE PYAAR DE but here its looking around the 47 crore nett mark. 

Then there is a flow of releases every week which will make it difficult for DE DE PYAAR DE 2 to hold collections. Although sequels are expected to go higher, if this film had gone to 90 crore nett, it would have been good result considering that romcoms are finding it tough going but there is little chance of that after the Monday collections.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 collected almost 55 crore worldwide over its first weekend with overseas putting up a decent showing though trend was not great. The performance in overseas can be called a little better as India was same as the first film but overseas was a little better and this is what took the worldwide total above the first film.

DE DE PYAAR DE (2019) had collected 50 crore over the first weekend worldwide. The collections of the sequel were average across all overseas markets with US/Canada at $590k, Gulf at around $500k while UK was £130k and Australia was A$200k. These figures are all better than the first part.

The worldwide collections of DE DE PYAAR DE finished at 131 crore which is not possible here. But the overseas final total of $2.8 million can be surpassed depending on how the second weekend fares.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 collected a fair 8.25 crore nett on its first day with good collections in the Delhi NCR belt. The film managed to pick up well through the day after a slow start as the way it opened, it was looking a 6 crore nett start. Meanwhile, the advances pointed to an even lower start for the film.

Eventually the number is pretty good for the genre but considering the budget and sequel factor, it probably had to do more but it is very tough in this genre to get into that double digit area especially without the holiday. And this is film which needed double digits.

DE DE PYAAR DE, released in 2019, did a similar first day number and went on to do business of over 90 crore nett. A repeat of the same will be a good result. Generally the trend is that sequels should do much more than the first film but the way romcom films do at the box office today, that would be expecting too much here. DE DE PYAAR DE did a weekend of 34 crore nett. A repeat will be needed here and it wont be easy.

The difference between the two films is that DE DE PYAAR DE (2019) looked to have a little more for mass circuits while here its looking more of an urban film. It does offer more entertainment compared to recent films in the genre going by the trailer but its still a long road ahead for the film. The weekend is crucial and it needs a good trend on Saturday and Sunday and even more so since the next few weeks will see many releases.

The missing in the film is a HIT song which is its pretty clear these films need and with that a double digit opening, it would have surely come for the film. In fact advances would have probably been far better as the youth gets attracted. The genre needs youth on the side which is not quite the case here.

The romcom genre is finding it tough going with the initials not able to come. The top openings in the romcom genre post pandemic are below and if we take out the holiday factor for TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR, then even that film is around 10 crore nett. The positive opening out of the films listed below is BAD NEWZ and that film had a HIT song taking it forward which made all the difference. It pretty much spells it out what is a must for the genre.

The genre also found it hard before the pandemic but the films tended to be lower budgets then. The 8 crore nett plus number for DE DE PYAAR DE 2 may not look much but actually its pretty good in the context of the business for the genre today. But what these numbers tell is that this genre faces a struggle with stars as the costs go too high. Going forward, it will have to be newcomers for the genre which allow a lower cost. Love Story films with stars, which are more drama based, will be fine but going towards comedy is just not getting the results.

These films are also only generally being able to collect in the NCR belt unless there is some sort of support given from external factors. The Mumbai circuit and Eastern pockets just don't come on board which really restricts the business.

DE DE PYAAR DE 2 had a decent jump on its second day as it collected 12 crore nett apprx taking its two day total to 20 crore nett plus. The growth is decent though you would want a little more as the first day business was on the lower side. Still its enough to keep the film in the running as long as Sunday come out with some good growth.

The film is pretty much ditto its first part as that had done around 12.50 crore nett on Saturday and then 14 crore nett on Sunday after a similar sort of start on Friday. It was Monday where that film came into its own and then ran well for five weeks. This film will have to try and do the same.

The film continues to be best in the Delhi NCR where it has collections and it needs those jumps in mass pockets on Sunday especially Gujarat and Central belts. If these don't come, then Sunday may not come out with much growth. The main let down again is Mumbai circuit as DE DE PYAAR DE (2019) did 31 crore nett there and that looks a huge task for the film though Delhi/UP can do better if it sustains from Monday.
