DANGAL (Hindi) grossed 192.50 crore nett in its first week as it added 19.75 crore nett on its seventh day. The film has grossed over 20 crore nett on six of its first seven days which has never happened before. The first week total is the second highest ever after SULTAN which grossed 209 crore nett but that had holidays over the Eid period. Here the film has been unlucky as the big holiday fell on Sunday but the period between Christmas and New Year is good for collections, The film has set three first week circuit records as East Punjab, Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala set all time records for week one. These have out performed because film is Haryana based and tax free was issued in Haryana from Wednesday. So East Punjab is extraordinary while Mysore and TNK is where Aamir Khan is most popular star ahead of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The daily first week business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
Sunday - 41,25,00,000
Monday - 25,00,00,000
Tuesday - 22,50,00,000
Wednesday - 20,75,00,000
Thursday - 19,75,00,000
TOTAL - 1,92,49,00,000 apprx

The next two days are going to determine where the film is going. Going by the weekday trend and the fact that it is weekend for New Year the collections are going to be huge but how huge remains to be seen. No film has ever collected 100 crore nett in its second week but DANGAL has a shot depending on what happens over the weekend. The Tamil and Telugu versions of the film grossed around 5 crore nett which is not bad considering how poorly the film started in these markets.
------------------
DANGAL set an all time record becoming highest weekday grosser of all time and that too with no big holidays on the weekdays. It just edged past the weekday figure of PK but PK had a huge holiday for Christmas falling on day six whereas DANGAL had normal days through the Mon -Thu period. If we take out the phenomenal first week business in a few circuits then the biggest achievements of DANGAL over the first week are the Sunday business which was an ALL TIME RECORD collection for a single day and also this weekday performance.

The weekdays are actually better than the weekend performance as the weekdays have picked up a huge 85% of the weekend without a holiday and at with collections at high levels. The footfalls of the film on Monday were better than day one and Tuesday were similar to day one. Below are the all time top collections for the Mon-Thu period.

1. Dangal - 88,00,00,000 apprx
2. PK - 87,44,00,000 (One Holiday)
3. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 82,10,00,000 (One Holiday)
4. Dhoom 3 - 75,87,00,000 (One Holiday)
5. Kick - 75,18,00,000 (Two Holidays)
6. Krrish 3 - 71,75,00,000 (Two Holidays)
7. Chennai Express - 53,42,00,000 (One Holiday)
8. Sultan - 48,79,00,000
9. Happy New Year - 40,44,00,000
10. Bajirao Mastani - 39,02,00,000

The Christmas releases last year grossed 71.11 crore nett between over the Mon -Thu period and this year DANGAL alone has surpassed by around 23%.

DANGAL (Hindi) continued to have another day of over 20 crore nett as it grossed 20.75 crore nett taking its six day total to 172.75 crore nett. The drop was under 10% from the previous day. East Punjab continues with miraculous run with collections not dropping from the previous day as the tax exemption in Haryana helped. The film also got tax exemption in UP from yesterday and this should be a big one as both BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and PK had while SULTAN did not and it was this that kept SULTAN collections quite a lot below the other two in the circuit. The week will close at around the 191 crore nett mark which is the second highest first week collection ever. The six day business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
Sunday - 41,25,00,000
Monday - 25,00,00,000
Tuesday - 22,50,00,000
Wednesday - 20,75,00,000

DANGAL (Hindi) continued with fantastic collections on Tuesday as it collected 22.50 crore nett and took its five day total to 152 crore nett. The film is on course for the second highest first week total ever behind SULTAN but beating the likes of BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and SULTAN. The drop on Tuesday was just 10% which is phenomenal considering how high the weekday collections are. it has crossed the 45 crore nett mark in Mumbai and is closing on in 30 crore nett in Delhi/UP. The film went tax free in Haryana on Tuesday and that will keep collections high in the state for some time in the state. The five day business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
Sunday - 41,25,00,000
Monday - 25,00,00,000
Tuesday - 22,50,00,000
TOTAL - 1,51,99,00,000 apprx
----------------------
DANGAL recorded the second highest first Tuesday collections of all time and the highest non holiday first Tuesday of all time. KICK has the highest first Tuesday but it was a national holiday for Eid for that film. The holiday affect is huge as that can be seen by the fact that a film like AIRLIFT which has limited appreciation gets into the charts. BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN was the biggest non holiday Tuesday prior to DANGAL. The collections are 13% higher than PK on the corresponding day. Below are the top ten first Tuesday collections of all time.

1. Kick - 26.82 crore (Holiday)
2. Dangal - 22.50 crore apprx (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
3. Krrish 3 - 21.33 crore (Holiday)
4. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 20.78 crore
5. PK - 19.87 crore (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
6. Dhoom 3 - 18.75 crore (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
7. Airlift - 17.63 crore (Holiday)
8. Ek Tha Tiger - 14.87 crore (Part Holiday)
9. Dabangg 2 - 14.21 crore (Holiday)
10. Sultan  - 12.89 crore

DANGAL had a phenomenal Monday with collections of 24.75-25 crore apprx in Hindi. The total collections of the film are now around 129 crore nett plus in four days. The drop from Friday is just 15% which is extraordinary for a film which collected so high on day one and on top it is not a big holiday though ticket rates a little higher at multiplexes than they normally would be they have dropped from from the weekend. The footfalls on Monday will be very similar to day one and could even be more. It is the third highest Monday ever but the highest non holiday Monday ever. East Punjab continues to lead with collections on Monday of 2.83 crore nett which only 5-6 films have beaten on the opening day. Areas like Gujarat and West Bengal which were a bit low on Friday are doing well on Monday. They are still under-performing but the collections on Monday were very good as compared to average figures on day one. The four day business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
Sunday - 41,25,00,000
Monday - 24,75,00,000
TOTAL - 1,29,24,00,000 apprx

The collections have hit 7 crore nett in Mumbai and 5 crore nett in Delhi/UP. The Tamil and Telugu version also held well with collections on Monday better than Friday and though overall collections remain low it may do do fair business in the long run. The first week is looking to be around 185 crore nett but if the holds are as strong as Monday it could even be higher. The business on Friday (Day 8) will tell where the film is going.
-----------------
DANGAL recorded the third highest Monday of all time behind KRRISH 3 and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN and the highest non holiday Monday of all time. The film has enhanced weekday ticket rates but they have seen a drop from the weekend whereas for other films like PK and DHOOM 3 which had enhanced tickets rates the drop was less from weekend rates; many multiplexes kept weekend rates for these films. The film has been trending with an apprx 10% higher collection than PK on the first three days and it has done the same on Monday. Below are the top ten first Monday collections of all time.
1. Krrish 3 - 29.64 crore (Holiday)
2. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 26.78 crore (Holiday)
3. Dangal - 25 crore nett apprx (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
4. PK - 21.15 crore (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
5. Dhoom 3 - 19.87 crore (Enhanced Ticket Rates)
6. Ek Tha Tiger - 18.96 crore (Holiday)
7. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - 17.68 crore (Holiday)
8. Rustom - 17.48 crore (Holiday)
9. Shivaay - 15.59 crore apprx (Holiday)
10. Sultan - 15.52 crore

DANGAL put up a huge Saturday of 34 crore nett  taking its two day total to 63 crore nett plus. The growth of the film on Saturday is a little under 20% compared to Friday. More important than the growth is that it grew very well in areas that were comparatively lower on Friday. Mumbai circuit grew around 30% as Gujarat/Saurashtra picked up from low levels on Friday. This is a plus for the long term business of the film. Also circuits which normally drop on day two of a big release Like CP, CI manage to grow around 5-10% which is also a plus for the film. The dubbed version also increased collections but they are still very low. The two day business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
TOTAL - 63,14,00,000 apprx

The numbers are around 10 crore nett below the other blockbuster of the year Sultan but that was in a holiday period of over the first first two days.
-------------------------------
DANGAL had a fantastic weekend of around 104.25 crore nett apprx helped by an extraordinary Sunday (Christmas Day) where it smashed all box office records to record the highest single day ever and be the first film to go over 40 crore nett in a single day. The film showed excellent growth on Sunday of around 20% as being a big national day it was slightly better than a normal Sunday but the film would have benefited more if Christmas Day had fallen on any other day especially a weekday. Despite setting a national record it was still not the highest collection ever in Mumbai as the first day of PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO was bigger and so was the third day of PK but in the North it smashed records by leaps and bounds. The weekend business of DANGAL (Hindi) is as follows.
Friday - 29,14,00,000
Saturday 34,00,00,000
Saturday - 41,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,04,39,00,000 apprx

The film is a blockbuster and  it is down to the weekdays as to how big of a blockbuster the film becomes. There are no official holidays in the weekdays but it is a very good period for collections between Christmas and the New Year which gives DANGAL a chance to rack big numbers till next Sunday.

The film also released in Tamil and Telugu and the collections are not impressive at all though the Tamil version showed a good trend from low levels so that may hold up well for a couple of weeks. The Telugu version is very poor.
