Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 17, 2023)

Aashka Goradia Goble is feeling on top of the world, as she and husband Brent Goble are set to embrace parenthood. She tells us that it’s expected to be a November baby. Sharing why they decided to have a baby six years after getting married, Aashka says, “We both needed some time to enjoy and grow together as a couple and as individuals. Brent had moved to India and he needed time to settle in a country where he could confidently raise his child. I needed to ensure that I gave undivided time to my business. But now we felt we were at a stage where we could have a child.”

The 37-year-old, known for starring in TV shows such as Kkusum and Kahin Toh Hoga, adds, “Brent and I always wanted this (to have a baby). We had discussed babies very early in our relationship. It (her pregnancy) has truly been the best gift. No other news has ever felt like this one.”

As of now, the actor, who is 14 weeks pregnant, has not made any changes to her daily schedule and is still going about her professional commitments normally. “I still work for 10-12 hours a day. I want to continue doing that hoping a healthy journey throughout pregnancy. Every minute feels more meaningful now,” she says.

Talking about their family’s reaction to the good news, Aashka adds, “Our families are overjoyed. Everyone is waiting for November to meet the new member of our family.”

It’s goodbye to acting for now-Aashka Goradia

Roshni Olivera (BOMBAY TIMES; April 26, 2021)

It’s not easy to bid goodbye to the arc lights, but Aashka Goradia Goble has made up her mind and she says it’s a well-thought-out decision. In a candid chat with Bombay Times, the actress, who became a household name with Kkusum in 2003 and has been a part of several shows since then, including Maharana Pratap, Naagin and Baalveer, among others, talks about her journey in showbiz, her growth as an individual and her future plans. Excerpts:

You’ve decided to quit acting and have even conveyed this to producers in Mumbai. What prompted you to take this call?
Entrepreneurship was a path I wanted to pursue. Business was always in my blood, and this dream has been with me for quite some time now. Acting happened by chance. I was only 16 when I moved to Mumbai, but while pursuing my acting career, I had this business virus in me, to do something in the world out there and that has finally happened. So, I felt it’s time I tell everyone that acting, for now, is going on a break as I pursue my other dream.

Is it also the current content on TV that isn’t appealing to you and hence you are certain you do not want to be a part of any TV show?
Television reaches the masses and it’s bigger than other industries that exist. In terms of content, as an actor, that’s never in your hands. In my case, it isn’t necessarily that, it’s also the fact that I wanted to do something else.

At 16, you came from Gujarat and did a number of shows on TV. A few years ago, you got into yoga and now are an entrepreneur. How would you describe your journey so far?
It’s been a beautiful journey, one which has given me so much. Acting introduced me to make-up, and that led me to pursuing what I wanted to do within that industry. Yoga, which was re-introduced into my life by my husband Brent (Goble), brought a different kind of inner peace, a journey that in itself is beyond words. When I look at all that life has given me, I am grateful to be on a path that is mine, which is unlike any other, and one where my dreams are turning into reality. Today as a businesswoman, my work has been noticed and I have received appreciation in the form of awards. That makes me happy.

Did you have to go through your share of struggles and experience the ups and downs in the industry?
Of course. What is a story without ups and downs and what’s life without good and bad days? It’s the low points that teach you a lot, they are your biggest teachers in life. I was someone who couldn’t sit at home, who wanted to constantly be working, sometimes due to responsibilities, many times because I was a workaholic. But in recent years, I learnt to divert my energies towards what really matters. I learnt to be patient, to not always expect, to continue working — not with the motive to stay busy, but rather to create something bigger.

There have been actors who have quit and then returned to acting. It’s perhaps the lure of the arc lights. Could that happen to you?
For now, it is a goodbye. Whether this sabbatical is temporary or permanent, time will tell, but I know that I am not taking up anything in acting in the coming future. Entrepreneurship and the shuttling between Ahmedabad and Goa keeps me busy.

You spend a lot of time in Goa now. Do you still have a house in Mumbai and do you see yourself returning here at some point?
I have a house in Mumbai, but honestly, every time I’m now in Mumbai, I stay in a hotel because that house is locked up. Will I return there? I am not sure. But yes, I do miss my people, the relationships and the friendships.

Brent and you have been married for over three years now. How much has he helped in your growth as an individual and also in terms of your career?
The patience, the change in outlook that I was talking about... all came with him. It’s like God has given me this gift of a partner, who is not only loving and caring, but also one that tells me to fly with my dreams, someone who supports me in every flight I take and is always by my side, saying ‘I’m proud of you baby!’ I look into his eyes and I know I have a whole world of love, an ocean of trust and a belief that I can, and it’s his belief that keeps me going.

We’re in a time where we don’t have backup plan-Aashka Goradia

Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; June 25, 2020)

For TV actor Aashka Goradia, the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has posed a severe financial challenge as her makeup business has come to a standstill. “If you are not getting out of the house, what are you going to dress up for? Having started the company only in January this year, this will be a massive challenge to overcome,” she shares.

But, despite the severity of the situation, Goradia, 34, is keeping her calm. “Worrying isn’t going to bring a solution. I am taking each day as it comes. We are in a time where we don’t really have a backup plan,” she says.

The actor, meanwhile, is in Goa with husband Brent Goble, who has a yoga school there. As people are unable to physically come for classes, she reveals they are taking things online soon. “Yoga changed our lives forever and we want people to also experience that change. Yoga really helps a person’s mental well-being,” the actor says.

I’ll never post about doing chores-Tinaa Dattaa

Sangeeta Yadav (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 6, 2020)

The self-quarantine period amid the Coronavirus pandemic has turned out to be a beautiful retreat for Tinaa Dattaa. The actor had travelled to Goa much before the lockdown began, to learn yoga from her teacher Brent Goble, and is stuck there ever since.

She, along with Goble’s wife and actor Aashka Goradia, are making the most of this time by learning new asanas, baking cakes, making new dishes, and doing photography.

Dattaa tells us, “I wanted to learn yoga for a long time and I’m finally pursuing it with Brent, who makes it so much fun and explains the significance of every asana.”

While she posts some beautiful pictures from Goa on social media, the 33-year-old admits that she’s conscious about not overdoing it like others who are readily sharing videos of cleaning, cooking, washing, and other household chores.

“I do these things everyday, but I’ll never make a post about it. I find it extremely wannabe to do such things. People just want to create content in order to be seen,” she says.

With the rise in social media engagement, the trolls have also become more active. The actor adds, ”I land up blocking at least 40-50 accounts on a daily basis. These people are frustrated and should get a better hold of their lives.”

On the work front, the actor was supposed to start shooting for a Bengali web series and some commercials which are all on hold. “I’m craving to go to the sets and I’m missing my home in Mumbai,” Dattaa says.

We couldn’t be in a better place than Goa-Aashka Goradia

The TV actress talks about getting stuck in Goa with her husband and friends due to the lockdown and learning to appreciate the little things in life
Flexcia Dsouza (BOMBAY TIMES; April 28, 2020)

While she is self-isolating at her home in Goa, Aashka Goradia has been spending time doing yoga and reading. The actress, who divides her time between Mumbai and Goa, was there to visit her husband, Brent Goble, who runs a yoga school in Vagator and had to stay back when the situation worsened.

So, she is quarantined with husband and actor friends Tinaa Dattaa and Sreejita De at their Vagator home. “They were here for a yoga retreat and were supposed to leave on March 22, but all of us are stuck together for over a month now,” she says. She adds, “Now that we call Goa our home, I would say, we are home! There couldn’t have been a better place for us to be at right now during such an unfortunate situation and still feel fortunate.”

Talking about how she’s learning to appreciate little things during the Coronavirus lockdown, she says, “We were trying to be mindful and didn’t overstock. Though we were six people in the house, we went out and bought stuff that we would need for seven days only.” And, how has life changed in lockdown? “I got to pick up reading again, Brent is finishing a few courses. Now that I know I have time at hand, I’m taking things slower. There’s no pressure of making the most of the time you have.”

Aashka doesn’t know when she’ll be able to return to Mumbai. She adds, “We also visit Brent’s family in the US every five-six months, but now it’s hard to plan a visit. So many things are going to change about travel.”

The choice to look better doesn’t make you fake or plastic-Aashka Goradia

Actress Aashka Goradia on facing criticism after she got herself a lip job

Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 16, 2018)

Aashka Goradia Goble, who has been seen in soaps like Kkusum and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and was an inmate in Bigg Boss 6, has been sporting fuller lips of late and admits to getting a lip job. And unlike many of her contemporaries, the 32-year-old actress has no reservations about it. “My husband (Brent Goble) made me realise that there is nothing to hide. Yes, people will shame you but there is nothing to be ashamed of. I wanted to do something to my face, and that’s my choice. And I know that opening up sometimes is the only way to shut people up,” she reasons.

Aashka goes on to reveal that she always wanted fuller lips and would use lip liners before she decided to go in for the procedure. “I’ve always loved make-up, human faces and all that we can do with it. With technology I had the choice to do it even better and I went ahead with it. But the procedure was preceded by a lot of research,” she explains, adding, “I wish I had a sob story to tell you but there is none. I just wanted fuller lips and decided to go for them. But being asked things like, ‘How much plastic went into your lips?’ at a press conference with 20 people around is not how I would like to address it. I want to reiterate here that I decided to do something to my face and that’s my choice. I am my own sculptor, my own painter!”

She cites the history of makeup to back her point. “Make-up has existed for over 7000 years and lipsticks for over 5000 years. We as people have always wanted to look better. There has to be a demand for the existence of supply. The thousands of beauty applications wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the demand. When a girl chooses to get something done on her face, why do we call her plastic?” she argues.

On her contemporaries shying away from the topic, Aashka rationalises, “It’s because the media and society label them as ‘fake’. I believe that real or fake attributes come from within. The choice to look better doesn’t make you fake or plastic.”

The actress is quick to add that she believes in the privacy that one’s choices should be accorded. “Everyone has different reasons to keep the procedures hush hush. Even doctors take an oath of secrecy. Besides, why should anyone have to admit anything, more so if they aren’t ready to talk about it? We fail to realise the damage we cause by commenting on appearances. Criticism has never been about breaking someone’s spirit. It exists to make things better,” she argues, adding, “Your judgments aren’t making you any superior and body-shaming others doesn’t build a community.

Check out Baba Ramdev on the sets of Nach Baliye 8 as a guest judge

Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 17, 2017)

After permeating the country’s collective consciousness with the virtues of Pranayama, yoga guru Ramdev was a curious sight on the sets of the dance-based reality show Nach Baliye on Tuesday. He shot for an upcoming episode as a guest judge alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Terence Lewis and Mohit Suri.

A source from the sets reveals that there was heavy security on the sets during Ramdev’s entry, with guards checking IDs and sniffer dogs doing the rounds. He kicked off the shoot at 5 pm with Terence giving him a lowdown on the contestants and the show’s format. One of the competing couples on the wild card episode was TV actress Aashka Goradia and her firang boyfriend Brent Goble.

Ramdev was particularly intrigued by Brent and made him do headstands. He gave yoga lessons to the other contestants too, urging them to keep calm as they fight to the finish.

He then turned his attention towards the judges. While Terence was excited to follow his cues, Half Girlfriend director Mohit tried to escape but was dragged to the floor. So was Sonakshi whom Ramdev mistakenly called Meenakshi. Ramdev also vetoed raunchy Bollywood songs and the lessons were conducted to “Chak de! India.”
