BAAGHI 2 is edging close to the 150 crore nett mark as it collected an excellent 32.50 crore nett in week two. There is a drop from the first week of around 70% but that is still good considering the huge first week collections. The total of the film has crossed 143 crore nett while Mumbai circuit is now 40 crore nett plus and Delhi/UP is 30 crore nett plus. These are very big numbers for these circuits and its a similar story across all other circuits.

BLACKMAIL has fared poorly at the box office with low weekend collections and then falling collections on the weekdays. It has ended its first week with 14.50 crore nett and there is not much scope to sustain into the second the week due to low occupancy over the weekdays. The film has not even been appreciated in the metros.

BLACKMAIL dropped again on Tuesday with the last hope of some sort run being a better Tuesday than Monday but there was another 10% drop. The total of the film stands at 12.50 crore nett and the week will close out a poor 14.50 crore with the film struggling to add thereafter.

BAAGHI 2 took its total to nearly 138 crore nett as it added 3.25 crore nett on Tuesday. The film is steady across the country and will cross the 150 crore nett mark with the third Friday determining the lifetime business of the film .

BLACKMAIL was on the expected lines as it dropped on Monday after a low weekend. The Monday collections were 1.35 crore nett apprx which is a 45% drop from Friday. A 45% drop is normal but not for film like BLACKMAIL which opened poorly. The film needed a Monday around the 2 crore nett mark and optimum is being around the first day mark.

The total collections of the film are now 11.25 crore nett with the week likely to be around 14.50-15 crore nett. This figure is the same as the HICHKI weekend which is a similar film in terms of economics. The low occupancy on Monday makes it tough for box office collections post week one as it will struggle to get screenings.

Also there is OCTOBER releasing on Friday which is for the same urban audience as BLACKMAIL and that will hit collections further.

Even a 20 crore nett total looks mission impossible after the Monday collections.

BLACKMAIL had a poor weekend as collections were just around 10 crore nett which is the same range as MADAARI (9.92 crore nett), more than QARIB QARIB SINGLLE (8.13 crore nett) but less than HINDI MEDIUM (11.79 crore nett). These are the three recent Irrfan Khan solo starrers. But more than the numbers its the appreciation which is missing as film is too dark and therefore the growth did not happen over the weekend.

There were IPL matches over the weekend but the weekend business proves it hardly affects business at this stage as BAAGHI 2 got the growth on Saturday and Sunday despite it having a huge ratio of business coming outside multiplexes where the major growth happens. Maybe the in the later stages it could affect films a little but nothing like a big match featuring India.

The film has a low budget of around 18-19 crore including PA and with digital covering almost 50% of the cost the film so it will probably be a plus for the producers but when theatrical does not do well then its unlikely to do well on satellite or digital so the losses will be for holders of these rights.

The business on Monday could hold at low levels till the end of the week but that will not be enough to give it a sustained run at the box office.

BLACKMAIL could not do much on Saturday as it collected in the 3.25-3.50 crore nett range which is growth of around 30-35% but for these type of films it is far too less. This was on the cards as the film did not get that push on Friday evening at the metros which it should of considering it is for that audience.

Some films record very strong business on Saturday without the Friday lift in metros but it was not to be the case with this film. The growth is very moderate and it will probably face an uphill struggle at the box office. A film like BAAGHI 2 has grown more in metro centers as compared to a BLACKMAIL which pretty much tells the story as the metro audience is not the the target audience of that film.

The weekend of BLACKMAIL could struggle to hit the 10 crore nett mark which is not much better than a MADAARI (2016) which was another Irrfan Khan which collected 9.27 crore nett in its first weekend but on 975 screens compared to the 1500 of BLACKMAIL.

The only hope is big growth of 40% plus on Sunday but with the reports and dark theme which hold little interest for families it would be a huge surprise if that happens on Sunday.
