VEERE DI WEDDING held up pretty well on Monday to record business of around 5.25 crore nett. It was a normal 50% drop from Friday but collections are at good levels. It has crossed 40 crore nett in four days and should end the week around 54 crore nett.

The film should emerge a HIT as long as there is not a big drop on Friday. JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM will release on Thursday and could hit collections a little especially the urban crowd with whom VEERE DI WEDDING has found some appreciation.

Despite the solid start it will end up doing similar footfalls to films like DEAR ZINDAGI, KAPOOR & SONS, NEERJA and PINK which also only appealed to the urban crowd. It shows that whether these films open well or work by growth, the end result is that limited audience of around 60 lakh footfalls.

The films that have that little bit extra and can appeal to a few of the other major cities outside metros like Jaipur, Lucknow, Surat, etc be it RAAZI or SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY, then they can go a lot further.

BHAVESH JOSHI SUPERHERO dropped on Monday with a 50% fall and collections of 12-13 lakhs nett. The total so far is a little over 1 crore nett and it will close up at under 1.50 crore nett for its total run.

VEERE DI WEDDING had a good weekend of 35 crore nett which is well above the expectations that anybody could have had for the film even probably the makers themselves. The film has scored excellent collections in Delhi/UP and East Punjab and other circuits which are dominated by multiplexes are good. Mumbai has under performed for the film due to the Gujarat/Saurashtra belt which is a conservative circuit dominated by the family audience. So this type of film will find it hard to collect there.

The trend is so so over the weekend and pretty flat but that was also the case for BAAGHI 2 but the main difference is that BAAGHI 2 had mass appreciation and was a film which was universal. Here its an urban film with limited appreciation restricted to a few cities so it could have done with more growth.

The film is a success unless it crashes out on Monday but there is still work to do to become a HIT film and for that the weekdays are crucial. The hold does not need to be huge on Monday and it needs to have that normal weekday trend which will be good enough for the film.

The core Hindi film audience has not really taken to the film but it does not need to do a huge number to be a HIT film and as long as the target audience in the metros is there for the next ten days or so it should put up a good lifetime total.

BHAVESH JOSHI SUPERHERO collected 90-95 lakhs nett over its first weekend and it is even lower than other duds by the same director like UDAAN and TRAPPED which managed to get over the 1 crore nett mark.
