HAI JAWANI TOH ISHQ HONA HAI collected 12.75 crore nett in its second week which is a 65% drop from the first week and takes the film to a 50 crore nett overall total in two weeks. The second week collections are better than SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI but it still remains behind that film.

SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI stood at 51.75 crore nett after two weeks while here its 50 crore nett. The difference is that eight day first week for SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI with the first day being a national holiday. The actual performance of HAI JAWANI TOH ISHQ HONA HAI is a little better than the earlier Varun Dhawan starrer as the Hindi circuits scored better.

But this may not come out in the numbers due to that holiday first week for SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI and a run with less competition. The release of COCKTAIL 2 and then a big release every week will curtail its run and remains to be seen if it can get 55 crore nett.

Week Two - 12,75,00,000 apprx

The other holdover, BANDAR, was a washout in week two and will finish with 4 crore nett lifetime. There were reports that the maker of this film wanted more screens for this film but the fact is if you have content you can score with with even a 50 screen start. Meanwhile, BANDAR started with more than 500 screens which is actually way more than content like this deserves and the second week has proved that.

HAI JAWANI TOH ISHQ HONA HAI struggled on day two as collections were pretty much flat. The film had a offer on day one which was taken off on day two but later reinstated and this would have meant lesser growth. Even allowing for this, the film should have come out with some sort of growth, maybe 20-25% rather than the normal 40-50%.

The two day collections of the film are 15.50 crore nett plus but the trend signals trouble ahead as it needed to go into double digits on Saturday and from here its a struggle to get into double digits on Sunday as well. The weekend might get up to 25 crore nett but that is a poor collection.

The weekend of SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMAR was 21.50 crore nett but that had a Sunday to come as it was an extended first weekend.

Saturday - 7,85,00,000 apprx

BANDAR is a poor fare as it collects 1.25 crore nett plus in two days. The film showed 60% growth on day two but it had to go up multifold or on a worst case, double up, but it is well short of that.

Friday - 50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 80,00,000 apprx

HAI JAWANI TOH ISHQ HONA HAI collected 7.75 crore nett on its first day which is a fair collection for the genre as from the units and trailers, it plays out as a romcom when the film is probably a comedy. This is probably due to the look and feel of the film. The film has been supported by an offer on Friday though it does not look to be there for the second day.

The last solo Varun Dhawan film, SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI, opened at 9 crore nett but it was a national holiday and a clash with KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1. Here there is another South film, PEDDI, but this film is no KANTARA. On fair value, this is a little better as belts like Gujarat, Rajsthan, Bihar etc are better as they notch up similar collections to SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI despite releasing on a normal day.

The opening should have been a little more especially as the film had an offer. Without the offer, this number would look much better although its an unknown how much the offer is taken up. The concern is when these things are abruptly taken off as it is has been seen that once started it has to be continued. So, its actually best not to start.

The genre is struggling but it can never be that one genre cant work as it just probably needs some changes and a different presentation or treatment which makes it looks a bit different to the audience. 

There was another release, BANDAR, which collected poorly and the collections will struggle to reach 50 lakhs or maybe just about get to 50 lakhs nett on a best case scenario.
