BALA is coming to the end of its run and will finish with 111 crore nett. The film suffered a huge drop with the release of PATI PATNI AUR WOH and PANIPAT in week five. Though the film has not really gone on from the first week like a concept film should but given the low cost of the film, it is still a SUPER HIT film.

It is 14th highest grosser of the year and has managed to beat bigger films like DE DE PYAAR DE and MANIKARNIKA - THE QUEEN OF JHANSI.

BALA was decent in the fourth week as it collected 4.50 crore nett. The hold in the fourth week was actually better than all the previous weeks as it fell only 55% while the first week and second week had seen falls of over 60%.

The film has now collected almost 110 crore nett and should be able to add another 2 crore odd from here on to finish at around 112 crore nett. The film will finish around the 32.50 crore nett mark in Mumbai while Delhi/UP will be the best performing circuit with around 31 crore nett.

MARJAAVAAN dropped 80% plus in the third week as it collected 1.25 crore nett apprx. The film has now collected a little over 45.50 crore nett and will finish at 46 crore nett.

MARJAAVAAN had a drop in collections in week two as it collected around 7.25 crore nett taking its two week business to 44.50 crore nett. The drop in the second week is 80% which is on the higher side. The film has managed decent business in some of the smaller circuits but a 50 crore nett total does seem hard to reach especially if it repeats the second week drop.

The plus is that the film has worked better than recent Siddharth Malhotra films and the budget is not huge. So satellite and digital will take it over the line but that is the case with practically every major film barring say PAGALPANTI.

BALA did pretty well in week three with collections of 11 crore nett but films like CHHICHHORE and DREAM GIRL were crossing the 20 crore nett mark in week three and that is the difference between BALA and those films as they had more appreciation from a similar multiplex audience so sustained better. Still BALA will do around 110 crore nett and is a SUPER HIT film thanks to the strong first five day and low costs. It is the eighth biggest HIT of the year after KABIR SINGH, WAR, URI, HOUSEFULL 4, MISSION MANGAL, CHHICHHORE and DREAM GIRL. These seven and BALA are the SUPER HIT or better films of 2019.

The film has done well but has not gone through like a concept film should and most of the business for the film came in the first five days.

If we compare with a CHHICHHORE which is in a similar zone, then the third week collections will be at best half the collections of that film and the lifetime number will be over 35 crore nett less. The film has scored best in the Delhi/UP market which should cross 30 crore nett in the long run. Mumbai will also do similar business but that is an under performance for that market as Gujarat/Saurashtra has done Average business at best.

BALA had a good second week of 26 crore nett and takes it two week total 95 crore nett plus. The film should just about get into the SUPER HIT category as long as the third Friday fall is not huge. The film has done well but it has been on the strength of the first five days where it got the bulk of its collections but probably has not held the way a concept film should. The holds are more like a big comedy or action HIT film. The low costs and the first few days with holidays have worked in its favour.

DREAM GIRL had more commercial aspects to it so CHHICHHORE is probably the film which is more in a similar zone to BALA. But the holds are much lower than that film as that film did 80 crore plus after its first week while here it may be 50 crore nett after the first week.

The film is scoring well in the metro multiplexes but the difference between BALA and DREAM GIRL will the multiplexes in places like Lucknow and Indore where the collections were better for DREAM GIRL. The film will see around 91-92% of its all India business coming from multiplexes which is higher than DREAM GIRL.

The film will hit the 100 crore nett mark in its third weekend and then its about how well it can sustain and can it get close to films like STREE and RAAZI. The film scored over those films in the first week but the second week will less.

BALA showed strong growth on its second Saturday of 75% to collect 6.50 crore nett which takes its total to 79.50 crore nett. The collections on the second Saturday were just 50 lakh less than the new release MARJAAVAAN as Saturday is the best day for the bigger multiplexes and this film is performing best in these multiplexes. Generally the film has done well at multiplexes be it in Delhi or Dehradun.

BALA will cross the 100 crore nett mark probably in the third weekend but will not reach the numbers of a DREAM GIRL or BADHAAI HO. The target will probably be to finish in the range of films like RAAZI and STREE though that will not be easy as there is a flow of releases in the next few weeks.

BALA had a good hold on its second Friday as it collected 3.75 crore nett which has taken the total of the film to 73 crore nett. The hold is not as strong as a CHHICHHORE which is the top smaller film of the year nor is it as strong as DREAM GIRL as both these films were above 5 crore nett on the second Friday but not many of the smaller concept films are going to hold like these films did.

But the film is better than LUKA CHUPPI which is the third best film in this zone and BALA will probably cross the business of LUKA CHUPPI before the end of its second week. BALA should comfortably cross the 100 crore nett mark and if this sort of trend continues over the third week, it will emerge a SUPER HIT film and the eighth biggest HIT of the year after KABIR SINGH, WAR, URI, HOUSEFULL 4, MISSION MANGAL, CHHICHHORE and DREAM GIRL.

BALA had good collections in the first week collecting around 69.25 crore nett. The film did have a drop on Wednesday but consolidated well on Thursday as North India showed good growth while the rest collected similar collections to Wednesday

The film has done good to decent business across all multiplexes of India. The single screens are low as the film has nothing for them. The first week collections are around 1 crore nett lower than the last Ayushmann Khurana film DREAM GIRL but the race between the films actually starts on the second Friday and the target is to do better post the first week as that is the path to a higher lifetime total. BALA will emerge a HIT unless there is a huge fall on the second Friday and if it can really sustain it may emerge a SUPER HIT like a CHHICHHORE or DREAM GIRL.

BALA got the benefit of Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday and showed a 15% jump in collections from Monday. The film collected around 9.25 crore nett which is in the same range as the first day. The five day collections for the film are 59.50 crore nett.

The best jump was in Punjab and Delhi but as the territories also include places like UP, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, the overall territory jumps were just 20-25%. BALA should easily beat the 70 crore nett figure of DREAM GIRL but it will depend on where the film settles today as there will be a drop in collections. The new release this week MARJAAVAAN is in a different space from BALA so that will not affect much. MARJAAVAAN is for mass centres mainly and BALA is not doing that great there anyway.

BALA held up very well on Monday as it collected around 8 crore nett which is a 15% drop only compared to Friday. The film did get a boost in Delhi and Punjab in the evening due to the holiday today (Tuesday) as collections in both places hardly dropped compared to Friday.

The Monday figure is better than DREAM GIRL which collected around 7.20 crore nett and with a holiday in North on Tuesday it should catch up with DREAM GIRL as its North where the business was less over the weekend. The Monday trend for the film is similar to DREAM GIRL and CHHICHHORE and both these films emerged SUPER HIT films and BALA looks like going the same. The first week should be better than both films due to Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday and then it will be about the crucial second Friday which will tell where the film will go.

BALA scored a very good weekend of 42 crore nett with a solid weekend trend. The film started with pretty good collections and made very good gains on Saturday and Sunday especially on the former. The obvious comparison is DREAM GIRL and the collections are a little lower than that film but the real race between these two films is from Monday onward.

BALA has scored better numbers than DREAM GIRL at most of the bigger multiplexes but collections in mass centres and single screens were better for DREAM GIRL. That is not to say that DREAM GIRL did well in mass and single screen, just that it was a little better than BALA though in Gujarat the business of BALA is better. The main difference between BALA and DREAM GIRL is the business in North and Rajasthan where DREAM GIRL was better, the rest sees BALA a little ahead or both in the same range. DREAM GIRL collected 7.20 crore nett on Monday and that is probably the target for BALA.

BALA had excellent collections of 15 crore nett on day two with growth of nearly 60%. The collections are a little lower than earlier estimates as some cities were closed in UP, Rajasthan and MP due to the Ayodhya decision. It took the biggest hit in Bhopal which was practically all shut on Saturday.

Still the growth is very good and it has 24.50 crore nett total in two days and should emerge a HIT as long as Monday holds. The collections are a little lower than DREAM GIRL but its really about what happens from Monday onwards when comparing the two films. The best growth for the film came in Bangalore and Pune where collections almost doubled while the film could have probably done better in East and East Punjab especially the latter as its a multiplex circuit.

BALA had a good opening day as it collected around 9.50-9.75 crore nett apprx on day one. The collections were similar to DREAM GIRL which collected 9.43 crore nett on day one. That film had better collections in UP, CI and Rajasthan while here Mumbai and Bangalore was better. Basically the collections at multiplexes outside North were slightly better while DREAM GIRL had better collections in mass pockets though not Gujarat/Saurashtra.

The film is the highest opening for Ayushmaan Khurana but by a very slender margin of a few lakhs. The film has a wider release also as compared to DREAM GIRL but that is not important as the last 500-700 odd Screens hardly make a difference as they hardly collect for these films with lesser face value. The film will be hoping to surpass DREAM GIRL or at least be in the same range. It could show better growth than DREAM GIRL as it was a little better at multiplexes but it will the Monday comparison that will tell how this film stands with that film. The opening is the 13th best of the year and below are the 11th-20th opening days of the year. Like DREAM GIRL it has beaten some of the bigger films like MANIKARNIKA - THE QUEEN OF JHANSI and DREAM GIRL.
