BACHCHHAN PAANDEY collected a poor 46.75 crore nett in its first week as collections fell fast from Monday onward. The weekend itself had struggled as it failed to grow over the weekend. This was mainly due to Mumbai circuit which fell heavily on day two.
There was better occupancy in small centres of UP, Bihar and MP but the collections from here are much less compared to bigger cinemas and even here it has been replaced by RRR in the second week.
The first week business of BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 46,75,00,000 apprx
GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI is still doing reasonable business as it collects around 5 crore nett in week four and takes its total to 122 crore nett plus. Tthe film could make its way slowly to 125 crore nett or thereabouts. The film is still being screened in a show or two at major multiplexes.
The business of GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI till date is as follows.
Week One - 66,72,00,000
Week Two - 34,63,00,000
Week Three - 16,05,00,000
Week Four - 5,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,22,40,00,000 apprx

BACHCHHAN PAANDEY collected a low 3.25 crore nett on Tuesday to take its five day total to 41.50 crore nett. The drop was not much on Tuesday but it would hardly matter if the film went up 10 or 20% on Tuesday. The fate was sealed on Saturday after some hope on Friday.
The first week will head to the 47 crore nett but then it will lose most of its screenings to RRR giving very limited second week collections. If the film has got unlucky with facing THE KASHMIR FILES at the peak of its box office, then its got lucky with non theatrical revenue which will take it towards recovery or minimal losses which could have been huge with this theatrical performance.
BACHCHHAN PAANDEY has performed best in mass markets comparatively but even here the collections cant be called good or even average. They are just comparatively better than say a Mumbai city or Delhi NCR or Kolkata.
The five day business of BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 41,50,00,000 apprx

BACHCHHAN PAANDEY showed a big drop on Monday as collections dropped 70% plus from Friday. This was pretty much expected as Gujarat/Saurashtra had dropped big on Saturday itself and it was the extended Holi period in parts of the country. The collections of the film were in the 3.50 crore nett range.
The film has not been accepted but even then it could have got way with it if had the Holi weekend to itself. These sort of films for mass circuits need that opening weekend as they are front loaded. Here the weekend did not come due to the competition and so the writing was on the wall. Bihar had a good Monday with collections similar to SOORYAVANSHI but that circuit is playing catch up and will eventually fall into line by the end of the week.
The first week collections will probably be around 47 crore nett and there will not be much coming after as it will be replaced by RRR at most places while THE KASHMIR FILES retains screens well due to good occupancy.
The four day business of BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 38,25,00,000 apprx

BACHCHHAN PAANDEY had a low weekend of 34.75 crore nett as it could not really stand up against THE KASHMIR FILES. There was some hope on day one as collections did pick up well but it was mainly due to the Holi period.
The collections on Saturday and Sunday could not grow as they dropped in the places where it was a holiday on day one while the areas which have an extended Holi holiday period showed growth on Saturday and then flat on Sunday. THE KASHMIR FILES wave at multiplexes also meant that its shows being replaced by the Vivek Agnihotri-directorial due to the demand of that film.
The reports of the film are also so so but the main reason for the weekend performance is THE KASHMIR FILES. It basically became a clash with a bigger film which is an established BLOCBUSTER post release and that took 67% of the market leaving 33% to BACHCHHAN PAANDEY. Its not that if BACHCHHAN PAANDEY would have taken all of THE KASHMIR FILES business if that was not there as BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is not a 100 crore weekend film. But it would have taken 40-50% and that would have been enough for a 65-70 crore nett weekend.
THE KASHMIR FILES will also hit RRR this week though not to extent that hit BACHCHHAN PAANDEY as it will be in third weekend for RRR as against the second weekend for BACHCHHAN PAANDEY. The advance opened for RRR yesterday but plexes reported more enquiries for THE KASHMIR FILES as people could not get tickets and the plans for this film are not even open for the third weekend.
The industry will see BACHCHHAN PAANDEY as a shocker but its got unlucky with THE KASHMIR FILES coming out of the blue. The film is now going to do less than other Akshay Kumar films like GOLD and PAD MAN which would never be the case if it remained the main Holi release. The lucky side is the huge 150 crore plus revenue from digital, satellite and music which will cushion the box office blow in terms of recovery.
Also Bihar managed 48 lakhs nett on Sunday when all cinemas opened and although its too late in the day for BACHCHHAN PAANDEY, its good news for the industry as the market was struggling but here the numbers have come just a little short of SOORYAVANSHI opening day on a national holiday. So the circuit is slowly recovering post the pandemic and gives RRR a chance to open better than SOORYAVANSHI in Bihar.
The weekend business of BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 34,75,00,000 apprx

BACHCHHAN PAANDEY saw a drop in business on day two as it collected around the 11 crore nett mark. The drop was mainly because of Mumbai circuit as it got hit hard especially Gujarat which was very good on day one. Mumbai circuit dropped 30% from a near 5 crore nett figure to 3,25 crore nett plus.
The rest of the country saw collections go up or remain at similar levels. CP Berar where mainly single screens remained shut on Friday saw collections almost double going from 37 lakhs to over 70 lakhs while Delhi/UP also went up from 2.40 crore nett to 3 crore nett. Today Bihar will also come into play as that has been most shut over the first two days. The Holi areas are holding well due to extended holidays.
The bigger problem for the film is the multiplex business as THE KASHMIR FILES runs riot and as that film gets full in advance there are multiplexes giving extra shows and BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is the casualty here. The two day collections of the film are 23 crore nett and even on Sunday the scope for improvement is limited. The capacity is there at multiplexes but the audience is going to the other film and leaving BACHCHHAN PAANDEY as mainly a single screen film.
The two day business of BACHCHHAN PAANDEY is as follows.
Friday - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 23,25,00,000 apprx
