7-8 people had stolen my identity and availed loans using my PAN card-Abhinav Shukla

Natasha Coutinho (HINDUSTAN TIMES; November 30, 2025)
On world cybersecurity day, actor Abhinav Shukla, who found out last week that several scammers stole his identity and have availed loans on his name, shared his ordeal with us.
Abhinav says, “I wanted to avail a loan to buy a car but when I checked my CIBIL score it was all over the place because seven-eight people had stolen my identity and availed loans using my PAN card. I raised a complaint with CIBIL authorities and also the local police but there has been no update since then. The e-mails mentioned are similar to my email address which means these impersonators are on the lookout for people who have taken no loans, so they can fake documents, thinking that person will never check his account. The address provided and other details to undertake these loans are all wrong, is what has come to light.”
Sharing his thoughts about the incident Abhinav adds, “Fraudsters are evolving faster than we do, they have a new trick up their sleeve each time. Even though I’m a public figure I’m an introvert at heart so I don’t end up sharing too much online, but in such cases where people are impersonating you no matter how careful one is, you end up getting trapped.”
The impact was so high that I was in shock for a few seconds-Rubina Dilaik

Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; June 13, 2023)
She narrowly escaped a fatal situation when a truck rammed into her car at a traffic signal in Mumbai on June 10. And living to tell us the tale is actor Rubina Dilaik.
Sharing the details, she says, “My car was slowing down since the signal had turned yellow, when suddenly I had this jerk from behind. This is next to Inorbit Mall in Malad. My head hit the seat ahead, and then I got back and landed on my lower back. The impact was so high that I was in shock for a few seconds. Then Abhinav (Shukla, actor-husband) came and managed the whole situation.”
Dilaik says that the first thing he did was take her to the hospital and get medical tests done. “Everything was good in the tests, thankfully. When you go towards Andheri, between Bangur Nagar and Hypercity, I have seen this many times: people don’t stop or obey the signal,” says Dilaik, adding, “I have taken legal action against that truck driver. If we let go of such things, we become irresponsible for not putting them out there. One of my friends was in a cab a few days ago with her five-month-old daughter when a car rammed into theirs. They were waiting for the signal too.”
I am relieved that police traced the troll who has been threatening me and my friends online-Abhinav Shukla

Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; September 14, 2022)
Celebrities often choose to turn a blind eye to trolls instead of feeding them. Abhinav Shukla, too, had done the same in the past. However, last year, the actor was forced to approach the police against a troll, who had been targeting him and his female friends for a long time. The troll has now been traced by the Patiala Police and investigations are on.
Abhinav tells us, “I am relieved, more for the sake of my female friends, that the troll has been traced. For the past year, he had been targeting me and tagging all my female friends, family members, and acquaintances, especially those with verified accounts. His messages were nasty, vilifying and criminal in nature. He accused my female friends of having an affair with me, threatened to throw acid on them, and had them run over.”
Abhinav initially dismissed it as posts by just another upset social media user. However, he soon realised that things were getting out of hand after he started making multiple accounts to troll him. He says, “My friends brought it to my notice and asked me to take action. I didn’t pay much heed thinking that it was one of the hazards of being a celeb. However, I soon started to wonder who was so idle in life that he could troll me for a year non-stop like he was on a mission.”
That’s when Abhinav approached the Mumbai Cyber Crime Branch. He says, “I reported the matter to the Mumbai Cyber Crime Cell via a written complaint on their portal in May 2021 while I was in Cape Town for Khatron Ke Khiladi. I requested them to take cognisance of the online complaint followed by a written complaint, but they didn’t lodge an FIR. Sensing that time was of the essence, I registered a complaint in my hometown with the Patiala police on September 13 last year. They filed an FIR under sections 66 CE and 67A. The police have finally traced the person, who is a resident of Cuttack (Odisha). They questioned him and his family but his motive is still not clear. It could be a case of paid trolls, who may have been hired by someone who doesn’t like me and doesn’t want me to prosper. The police are investigating the case. I am relieved.”
In the Bigg Boss house, you have to either fight or take flight-Rubina Dilaik

Unnati Joshi (BOMBAY TIMES; February 23, 2021)
After 143 days, Bigg Boss 14 finally got its winner — Rubina Dilaik was crowned the queen of the reality show’s latest season. The Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki actress is on cloud nine after her ‘Bigg’ win. “I am ecstatic. I always wanted to reach till here (the finale win). It was a dream, but the feeling of victory is yet to sink in. Kehte hai na, sab kismat ka khel hai, probably I was destined for it. This has been an incredible journey where I discovered myself. And I am very proud of it,” Rubina says.
‘ABHINAV’S SUPPORT MADE ME STRONGER’
Rubina’s husband Abhinav Shukla, who was also a contestant, was seen rooting for his wife at the finale with other contestants. Talking about their reunion, she says, “When I won the show, he congratulated me, we hugged and kissed. It was beautiful to have him there with me. Abhinav’s support made me stronger. Ab main bas destination wedding ke baare mein soch rahi hoon (laughs!). There will be a second wedding, and a journey of a lifetime, which we had promised each other on the show.”
The relationship of RubiNav, the portmanteau the couple earned during their stay at the Bigg Boss house, became a talking point after Rubina revealed during the show that the two had contemplated divorce.
Does she regret talking about it on national television? “Absolutely not,” she says, adding, “The kind of challenges we faced together in the show has made our relationship stronger. In the outside world, you have choices and you can escape, but when you are locked up in a house, you have no choice except to either fight or take a flight. We chose to face the challenges head-on and win it for ourselves and that in turn made us, our relationship and our bond stronger. Having your life partner with you on a show like this definitely provides you with emotional support but to be honest, having your personal life exposed on a public forum is like walking on eggshells. It was a mental and emotional challenge to balance things. Only couples will understand it.”
‘IF JASMIN WANTS TO CONNECT, I WILL WELCOME HER WITH OPEN ARMS’
Rubina’s love-hate relationship with Jasmin Bhasin was another hallmark of the show. Ask her if she wants to give their friendship another shot, and she shares, “I tried to mend our relationship multiple times, even when she came back (in the house) during the family week. But once again, I sensed rejection from her side. Now, I think I will give her the time she needs and if she wants to connect after some time, I will welcome her with open arms. I have left it to her now."
What about Aly Goni? “I will stay in touch with Aly without any doubt. We had a natural connection, I connected with him on a spiritual level and I think he felt that, too. I see our relationship evolving further,” says Rubina.
‘WILL ATTEND RAHUL VAIDYA’S WEDDING IF HE INVITES ME’
On her relationship with Rahul Vaidya with whom she had many tiffs during the show, the actress says she is willing to forgive, forget and start afresh. “For me, Bigg Boss has been a life-transforming journey. The moment I stepped out of the house, I promised myself that I will forgive and forget. I entered the house with a clean slate and I consciously stepped out with a clean slate. So I will start everything afresh, be it my relationship with Rahul or any other contestant,” she says.
So, will she be attending Rahul’s wedding? Rubina replies, “If he invites me, I would definitely go. But I don’t think we are that close, he might not invite me (laughs!). I just want to wish him and Disha (Parmar) all the best for their life ahead.”
Rubina is now looking forward to spending some quality time with her parents. “They flew down from Shimla for the finale, I want to be with them for some time. Also, for the next few days, I am only going to sleep and eat (laughs!)," she says.
I always knew that I was an absolute misfit for a show like Bigg Boss-Kavita Kaushik

Roshni Olivera (BOMBAY TIMES; February 15, 2021)
Kavita Kaushik, who is known to speak her mind, entered the Bigg Boss 14 house a couple of months ago with a lot of promise. But things didn’t seem to work out, and one day, she chose to walk out of the house never to return. The actress, who maintained silence so far, has finally opened up. In an exclusive, no-holds-barred interview with Bombay Times, Kavita spoke about all the controversies...
When you look back, do you feel your decision to participate in this season of Bigg Boss was a bad one because it just didn’t work for you?
Indeed, it didn’t work for me! In the 14 years that I was offered the show, during each season, I believed that I was an absolute misfit for it. I knew that I would say something that I wouldn’t mean or walk out. And that’s exactly what happened.
What according to you went wrong for you?
What went wrong was that I had no strategy. I took everyone at face value and was too brash and real. I reacted to every provocation with anger, instead of being cunning and manipulative. I lacked the art of impressing the cameras with my words.
But now, do you feel you should have stayed back in the house rather than walking out after a fight with Rubina Dilaik?
No. I am glad I left because I am not so smart with my words. I realised that I was so done with the fake fights for image building that I could raise my hand on someone in helplessness, and I do not promote violence of any kind.
In my entire journey in the BB house, I never started a fight. Each time, I was provoked to get into an argument, and yes, thereafter, I lacked the shrewdness to watch my words. In anger, I would say things that would take some other turn, leaving behind the actual reason for the fight. I felt this is not who I am, my good qualities are not coming out on the show, so it’s pointless staying inside. I was not so desperate. I was lucky that they gave me the option to leave that day and opened the door. It was like Mahadev ne khulwa diya tha darwaza mere liye. People die to stay in the house, I couldn’t wait to leave.
Rubina and Abhinav Shukla live in the same building as you, and you were friends before Bigg Boss. Now things have soured, particularly after your husband (Ronnit Biswas) tweeted that in the past Abhinav had sent you drunk messages a few times at night. Do you think you guys will patch up anytime soon?
I did not know Rubina, but yes, I knew Abhinav and whatever happened is really sad. I don’t blame anyone. My husband Ronnit felt helpless, when he saw Aly Goni kick a box that injured my leg and arm and then he saw Abhinav telling me laafa maarunga.
When I walked out, Ronnit vented on Twitter, and in his tweets, he mentioned our conversation regarding Abhinav, where I had told him about an unpleasant experience of how our friendship had ended in the past. He later deleted it because when your anger subsides, you know it’s childish and would be embarrassing for both parties to talk about a past equation or a fight. But I also understand Ronnit’s feelings. I don’t hold those messages against Abhinav as we all have done such stupid things. I have done worse, you can make a movie on them! It’s our bad to have spoken about it, however, it’s absolutely not a lie.
Abhinav is out of the Bigg Boss house right now and you may bump into him in your building. How will you react if that happens?
I guess we will ignore each other in the building with better grace.
What about Eijaz Khan? Your comment that the two of you were not friends, as opposed to what he had said, made headlines...
What happened with Eijaz is so surprising. Indeed, he wasn’t a friend, but was an acquaintance and a senior. I did not know him personally at all, he was standing next to me during that conversation that took the nation by a storm, where I was telling Salman Khan how we weren’t friends, and Eijaz asked, ‘Toh mere liye dabba bana ke kyun deti thi?’ And I replied saying that it was during the lockdown when I was checking on one and all. I thought he lived alone and made chicken because he asked me to. Since I was saying it in anger, it sounded harsh. It’s hilarious that people gave the tag of “unkind” to someone who cared compassionately for all. I don’t want to speak about the number of strangers I cared for during this lockdown. It’s highly immature of those misunderstanding this issue as I’ve been around for 20 years and my life has been about an act of giving... if they could just pause and wonder why she said what she said.
Currently, you are on a long road trip. Have you put BB behind you completely?
Why should I put it behind me? A bad decision doesn’t define me, but the lessons it has taught me, will. It taught me some harsh life lessons; I won’t trust easily now, I will definitely do less for strangers and speak correctly, especially when angry. I am on a road trip covering Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. Being in the mountains, jumping into the rivers, visiting my village and staying at my ancestral place has helped me introspect and heal.
On the work front, you have been doing Punjabi films. What about other mediums?
When your career goes on for two decades in a field, it’s natural to feel stagnated. I’ve done most roles I aspired for. I will now do something that gives me the motivation to go on a set. Like I said on BB, I am happy and satisfied.
Even today everyone remembers you as Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala from the TV show FIR. As an actress, where do you see yourself today in the current scenario? Do you see yourself playing a naaginor a daayanon TV?
I see myself doing a dark action-comedy about a misunderstood woman. That will come naturally, yeah? (laughs!)
You turn 40 today. How does it feel?
It feels like Big Bad 40 with na maan ka moh aur na apmaan ka darr!
There’s no divorce happening; Rubina Dilaik & I are stronger now-Abhinav Shukla

Right after he got evicted from Bigg Boss 14, Abhinav Shukla left for Kolad, Maharashtra, to beat the fatigue. “I made a short trip to a friend’s farm. This was a much-needed break. I wanted to swim in the river and unwind in the lap of nature,” he tells us.
The actor, who is now back in Mumbai, says he is still getting used to life after Bigg Boss. “When I was inside, I was only communicating with my housemates, and now, suddenly I’m getting so many calls and messages and there’s so much happening on social media, thoda confuse ho raha hoon (laughs!). But I will adapt to it again anyway,” he says.
‘THE BEST PART IS THAT MY FANS DIDN’T VOTE ME OUT’
The last couple of weeks in the BB house were quite eventful for Abhinav. “Maine socha tha Ruby (Rubina Dilaik) aur main finale mein saath mein stage par honge and Salman sir will be holding our hands. I was a little upset because I was so close to the finale. But I guess it’s okay. The best part is that my fans didn’t vote me out,” he shares.
Abhinav was voted out by his co-contestants’ connections, who are currently in the house. While fans called his eviction unfair, the actor feels it’s a part of the game. “It is what it is, one can’t question the design of the game. You have to play it by the rules. There was a task and somebody had to go. Unfortunately, it was me. It’s a game and people get evicted, no hard feelings,” he says.
Abhinav and Rubina’s (aka Rubinav) relationship became the talk of the town when the latter revealed on the show that their marriage was on the brink of a divorce. Talking about it, he says, “Everything is fine now. There’s no divorce happening. The show made us stronger and strengthened our bond. When we were discussing the show before giving it a nod, I jokingly told Rubina that once you see the fights inside the BB house, you might forget the little fights we had. Jo tab humko badi lagti thi, woh actually bahut choti-choti ladaiyaan thi. During our stay in the house, we realised that we were making a fuss about minor issues. Now, when she comes out of the house, hopefully after the grand finale, we will look into our issues and resolve them.”
He adds, “I haven’t discussed our personal issues with our families yet. But I will talk about it, I am waiting for the right time. They are also very understanding, so there is no issue here.”
‘I DON’T KNOW JASMIN BHASIN ANYMORE’
Ask him about his current equation with Jasmin Bhasin, and he says, “To cut a long story short, I don’t know Jasmin (pauses), I don’t know her anymore.” What about Rakhi Sawant? “Rakhi is very smart, she knows what she is doing. But whatever happened inside the house, I have left it there. I have no grudges against her, I will try to move on and erase that memory,” he says, adding, “I have made a few good friends — Naina Singh, Rahul Mahajan, Sara Gurpal — inside the house and will be in touch with them.”
Abhinav says that he is overwhelmed by the support he received, during his stint on the show. “Mujhe life mein itna appreciation, pyaar aur support kabhi nahi mila. This is the first time. I wasn’t expecting this, but I am very thankful,” he signs off.
Kajol's next, based on mother-son relationship, to be directed by Pradeep Sarkar

“I was offered the script around four months ago. It took me a while to understand the Gujarati tone but eventually I fell in love with this extremely emotional story which boasts of some really strong characters and there’s a chance of people getting really close to them,” informs Sarkar, admitting that he has been interacting with a lot Gujaratis of late.
The 62-year-old filmmaker informs that he has already started on the prep and reading sessions with Kajol will begin soon. “She’s an awesome actress who picks up a role and owns it. She has her own style, charm and a particular way of talking that enhances the character,” he maintains, adding that they are scouting for the boy who will play her son.
Kajol’s husband, Ajay Devgn, is producing the film with Abhinav Shukla. Swanand Kirkire, who has earlier worked with Sarkar on Parineeta, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Lafangey Parindey, is writing the lyrics. Amit Trivedi will be scoring the music. The film will be shot on the outskirts of Mumbai.
“I am getting involved in the dialogue and character-building as there are a few insights that I want to incorporate to make the film more endearing. This is not like Parineeta, where everything was detailed, this is more free-flowing, a character and music-driven film,” Sarkar points out.
So what kept him away from directing more films after Mardaani? “Making commercials is my main business. If someone gives me enough money, I would only make films but we have to survive,” the filmmaker signs off with a chuckle.
Aksar 2 release pushed ahead; new song to be launched today instead

Chaya Unnikrishnan (DNA; October 6, 2017)
After Aaj Zid and Jaana Ve, the makers of Aksar 2 are gearing up to release the third song from the film. Called Tanhaiyan, the song featuring Zareen Khan and Abhinav Shukla has been shot in Mauritius. “We have shot at some exotic places — a British kind of villa that has been converted into a museum of artefacts with beautiful furniture, pianos and grandfather clocks. We also shot a portion of the song at a beach and a fort, which had wonderful textures made of wood and bricks and has a huge galley, where we could finish the song with the shot of Zarine running,” shares the film’s director Ananth Mahadevan.
The song comes at an unexpected moment in the film, he adds. “It comes as a shock to both Zareen and the audience. Amit Mishra, who did a wonderful rendition of Bulleya in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is singing this nostalgic number. I am so glad I got him because he has sung it with a lot of feeling. After the sensuous Aaj Zid and the romantic Jaana Ve, this will tug at your heartstrings,” he says.
Interestingly, the song is being launched today, the day the film was slated to release! But thanks to the Hollywood biggie, Blade Runner 2049, and Saif Ali Khan’s Chef, the movie has got postponed. “Yes, but that’s not the main reason. We wanted to release Tanhaiya first and our second trailer, which concentrates totally on the edge-of-the-seat content. That will be launched next Tuesday. We wanted to build this up and not hurry through, that’s the reason we took a call to push the film. Also, some post-production work is remaining,” reveals the filmmaker. As for when it will be releasing, he says the date will be announced in a day or two, but it is definitely releasing this month.

Salary cheques of Madhubala's crewmembers gets bounced?

MID-DAY (June 25, 2014)
Sources say that the production crew of the TV show, Madhubala, is not being paid its dues. A crewmember from the show says, “The show is about to go off air but it recently got a few weeks’ extension as the new show that will replace it is not yet ready. Since the past few weeks, we have not got our money. We got our cheques only to realise that they have bounced. We are thinking of having a word with the senior members of the production team and it would be great if we could sort things out at the earliest.”
The crewmember says that currently, the team is keen to complete shooting for the show and move on to the next assignment. “But of course, we are quite disappointed with the state of affairs. We having been working on the show from the beginning and we were expecting to end it on a happy note. We are hoping that the production house will soon pay our dues.”
Abhinav Shukla, the producer of the show, denied the buzz. He said, “ If they haven’t really been paid, then they should come to me or report the matter to the workers’ union, why are saying this to the media. This is all hogwash.”
Stars juggle schedules for Election Day

For instance, Kangana Ranaut, who is promoting her film Revolver Rani, has managed to get a day’s break. A source says, “She was supposed to go to Ahmedabad and Jaipur, but now that trip has been cancelled. Now she may visit these cities after the film’s release.”
Suniel Shetty has already postponed the promotional tour for his film, Koyelaanchal, to vote. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar who will be attending the IIFA awards in Florida, has declared that he will cast his vote and then go to the US. In a recent interview, he even appealed to everyone to vote.
Sukhwinder Singh, who has lent his voice to a song in the film, says, “When the film’s promotional schedule was being planned, all of us informed the team that we wanted to keep everything aside on Election Day. Our marketing team has planned the promotions accordingly. I was also supposed to fly to Bangalore for a recording, but I have pushed that ahead now.”
Taking a stand
At a Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) meeting between film producers and other artistes, it was decided that producers would either cancel their shoots today or begin shooting only after 2pm. Dilip Pithwa, general secretary, FWICE, says that he has already written to all four producers’ bodies
requesting them to let their unit members ( artistes and technicians) go vote.
Accordingly, the unit of the Neha Dhupia-starrer, Ekees Topoon Ki Salaami, will start its shoot late. Says a source, “Neha requested the producer, Abhinav Shukla, to let the shoot start late. Now all unit members will have enough time to cast their vote and head to the sets for the shoot. The producer has also agreed to the same.” At recording studios too, work will start only post 2pm. BM Tiwari of Sound Engineers Association adds, “All technicians have been instructed to report to work later on account of elections. Only those who have to send in their episodes earlier on have been given some concession. Then again, they have been asked to vote before getting to work.”
I stored my urine to survive-Abhinav Shukla

Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (BOMBAY TIMES; January 8, 2014)
Abhinav Shukla is an adventure sports junkie. When not shooting, he likes to go trekking and explore new places. However, a recent outing turned into a nightmare for Abhinav and his friend, when they were stuck on the ledge of a hill in Matheran for over 12 hours.
Says the actor, “My friend and I wanted to trek to Chanderigad, a fort located at 1200 feet in Matheran forests. At 4 pm, it was a bit late to start, but since it was only a two-hour trek, we decided to go ahead. We had planned to camp overnight and so, I carried the tent, sleeping bag, stove, knives and camera. My friend was carrying food and water. When it got dark, we wanted to cut short the distance and so, left the trekking track and started climbing a steep dried out stream. The initial climb, though tough, was manageable. When it was almost dark, we reached a slope too steep to climb without a rope. My friend, who was ahead of me by 10 ft, refused to climb down as it was very difficult. Instead, he climbed up some 150 ft more and settled on the ledge of a hill. I too had to climb up as I had no water or food. However, I had to leave behind our tent, sleeping bags, stove and camera as they were too heavy. On the ledge, we realised that going down the slope without ropes and rock climbing equipment is impossible. We had only two options -- to either stay on the ledge, which was 3 ft by 5 ft, till someone finds us, or climbing down with only 10 per cent chances of survival. We decided to stay put. We spent the night without sleep, surviving on just two litres of water and one packet of instant noodles.”
So, how did he get saved? “Fortunately, I had some 14% battery left in my mobile phone and sent an SOS to my brother and friend Rajesh Khera. It was very cold and we also feared snakes and civet cats in the area. Fearing that we might have to survive for long, we even stored our urine - when dehydrated, it could keep us alive for a few more hours. Thanks to my ability to navigate and understand stars and constellations, I was able to message my location somehow.” Hope came at dawn when Rajesh, accompanied by a rescue team, appeared over the mountain pass. The rescue mission took five hours.
