The Tamil, JAILER 2, which is a sequel to JAILER (2023), has had a superb first day as it records first day collections around the 55 crore nett mark including around 3 crore nett for the dubbed version named RAJINI: THE JAILER 2. RAJINI: THE JAILER (2023) did not do well as it got a limited release as it clashed with GADAR 2 and OMG 2. But the film found some appreciation post release which has led to decent result in Hindi. The film has not released in the main chains but considering the Telugu dubbed film THE PARADISE did over 2 crore nett a few weeks back, a 3 crore nett total was always on for RAJINI: THE JAILER 2.
JAILER 2 is the third highest opening ever for a Tamil film after COOLIE (2025) and LEO (2023) and has seen very good collections in all the South markets though Tamil Nadu at around 17-18 crore nett could have been better. Nizam/Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala are very good for a Tamil film as the Rajinikanth factor will be in play here. The last Rajinikanth film, COOLIE, faded after the huge start and the hope here will be to repeat the success of JAILER (2023) which till date is the highest grossing Tamil film in India outside 2.0. However, that is mainly because 2.0 saw big success in Hindi.
The new Hindi films, NAYYI NAVELLI and PRAHAAR, have not opened well though when that big drop from DRISHYAM THE CONCLUSION came on Sunday, it spelt bad news for these films as business was going to be down. NAYYI NAVELLI should have opened better but the campaign never made it look like a horror film. Yet, it has an outside chance of 4 crore nett which would be decent first day result if it can get there.
PRAHAAR is less than NAYYI NAVELLI but seems more of a television film and is the type of film which depends heavily on Saturday and the weekdays.
