With more than three decades in Hindi and South cinema and over 250 films to his credit, Murali Sharma has seen the industry change across languages and formats. The actor, who recently made his OTT debut with the Telugu series Super Subbu, believes the biggest shift has been in the quality of writing.

“If you look at scripts alone, the writing has changed tremendously. And that’s the most important aspect of filmmaking,” says Sharma, who has been part of films like Singham, Golmaal Returns, Main Hoon Naa and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 among others.

Looking back at his career, he says, “Today, with over 250 films across languages, I can’t even say it’s a dream come true because I never had the courage to dream something so big. Life has just been smiling at me.”

For him, the length of a role has never been the deciding factor. What matters is what he can bring to a character.

“I only look at how much I can contribute to a character. I’ve never gone by the length of a role. I’ve been fortunate to play different character. People call me the quintessential father in Telugu cinema, but I’ve never worried about being typecast. Every role deserves your absolute best,” he says.
