The Furious is a Hong Kong action film that has attracted
worldwide attention for its novel action scenes. After establishing the
characters and their bond, the action soon begins. The scene in the
truck and thereafter is very gripping. There are fight scenes at regular
intervals, which keep the interest going. There's an unexpected
development in the Snake Pit sequence, which is impressive. Though The Furious is only 113 minutes
long, it seems lengthy because certain fight scenes are needlessly
long. As a result, the novelty wears off after a point. There's a very
silly twist in the climax. It does amuse viewers, but also makes it
clear that one should not look for logic. Xie Miao is damn good as the mute protagonist and his fight scenes are killer. Joe Taslim (Navin) is slightly overshadowed by Xie but nevertheless makes his presence felt. Brian Le (Ho) gets to play a silly part, but he performs it with sincerity. Joey Iwanaga (Paklung) is over the top. Manatsanun Phanlerdwongsakul (Police sergeant) leaves a mark. Lastly, the young Yang Enyou (Rainy) is cute. All in all, The Furious is a timepass watch, especially for the lovers of such films.
