Court bars Kashyap from ‘derogatory’ comments against Salman after ₹9cr suit

HINDUSTAN TIMES (February 2, 2026)

A Mumbai court has restrained filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap from making any further “derogatory, defamatory or disparaging” statements against Salman Khan following a ₹9 crore defamation suit filed by the actor.

The order was passed while hearing Salman’s plea alleging that Kashyap had made repeated public statements and social media posts that harmed his reputation. The court observed that continued publication of such remarks could cause irreparable damage and directed Kashyap to refrain from issuing or circulating any further content against Salman until the matter is decided.

Kashyap, who directed Dabangg (2010), has previously made allegations against Salman and his family, calling them “convicted criminals” and members of a “jihadi ecosystem”.

Salman has sought a permanent injunction against Kashyap.

Meanwhile, Kashyap’s team has denied the defamation claims and is expected to file a detailed response.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on a later date.
