THE RAJASAAB collected a low 5.25 crore nett on its first day and this collection came with block bookings. This has become a regular method to prop up collections on the first day now with DHURANDHAR, TU MERA MAIN TERI MAIN TERA TU MERI, IKKIS and now THE RAJASAAB going the same route though not that it will matter much. DHURANDHAR worked out of this lot and it would have worked even if the add-ons were not there.

This is the lowest figure for a Prabhas starrer after RADHE SHYAM and if we take out the added amounts, its actually not much better than the 2022 film. The film is basically too Telugu to have much of a chance in Hindi as this sort of comedy has no takers and seems regional for the Hindi audiences. The film has horror also but that overall the units could not generate interest. The film will see a drop on Saturday unless its propped up again.

The film has better figures down South as the collections in the South will in the 46-48 crore nett range which includes screenings on Thursday. Nizam/Andhra is around 40 crore nett which includes the collections from Thursday and this is probably the eighth highest opening there. This means a 52-54 crore nett first day with previews. It looks fine on paper but the way the Telugu market works, its not good enough and more than that, with this budget of around 350 crore including PA, you need Hindi to work well.

The problems of the Hindi film industry are much highlighted but its actually no different or maybe worse in Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu with exhibition struggling in a big way with lack of films doing the business. THE RAJASAAB is a big film for Andhra after a long time and its horrible fate will hit hard.
