Actor and filmmaker JD Majethia (right), who produced the popular sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, reacted on late actor Satish Shah being posthumously honoured with the Padma Shri award recently.
Though Majethia expressed his happiness, he also feels that the joy of receiving the award, Satish ji himself would have been very different for Shah.
Majethia added that the entire team of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai were discussing about Shah’s recognition.
“Satish ji was the kind of person who would take everything in a positive way. If he were with us, he would have probably made a video about this, joking about it coming to him too late,” he says.
Talking about the debate of the acknowledgement of actors while they are alive, Majethia says, “It is true that when an artiste gets an honour, and they receive it themselves, the award becomes very special for them. But for an artiste, there is also the love of fans which is not just about giving a hit show.”
He adds, “It is the love even the fans experience when their favourite artist wins an award. So, in such a case, when actors like Satish ji or Dharmendra sahab win an award, the love of the fans gets rewarded too.”
Satish Shah, who played the popular character Indravadhan Sarabhai, died in October 2025.
