BORDER 2 showed a superb trend on Saturday as collections went up over 20% but this this does really tell the whole story as the jumps in the weaker areas are huge with Mumbai circuit jumping around 50% while Mysore has seen an even bigger jump of 70%. The film had opened strongly in mass pockets. So, the jump there is going to be minimal and there are drops in some circuits, especially the East.

Bihar is a little down which is expected and West Bengal had a holiday on Friday which pushed the first day collections and this circuit has seen a drop in collections. If we take out the Eastern circuit, then the jump for the film is touching 40% which is huge and this is not some little five metro film where big growth comes on Saturday. The real concern for the first day was the Gujarat/Saurashtra belt as here, the zone of the film should have meant a very good opening. Yet, it came out average and this belt is so important especially for these type of of films. It all changed on Saturday as the circuit jumped over 50% and came out with very good collections.

The film now has 66 crore nett up in two days and it will be a weekend which will be go over 100 crore nett mark. Also, it will be the first time that a weekend goes over 100 crore nett since CHHAAVA last year with good chances of being the highest weekend recorded since PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE in December 2024.

The film continues with extraordinary collections in the North with East Punjab leading and this area could well be challenging the collections of some of the biggest figures seen in the circuit from films like KGF - CHAPTER 2, ANIMAL and PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE. The key for the film was Mumbai circuit and now after Saturday there will be no looking back and the film is set for a strong run.

BORDER 2 had an excellent weekend of 118 crore nett with an extraordinary trend as the film starts with a HIT opening and went to BLOCKBUSTER level collections on Sunday. This is because of the lesser opening in the Mumbai/Gujarat belt which came on board on Saturday and then continued to push higher on Sunday. Gujarat can still be a little higher going by the figures of GADAR 2 but the Maharashtra trend looks better than the 2023 film.

The film showed growth of 25% plus on Saturday and 40% plus on Sunday which is superb and with it being Republic Day on Monday, it will be another huge day. Sunday has become crucial day in terms of growth and BORDER2 has done the job here.

The mass pockets were phenomenal on Sunday as the film recorded huge figures in East Punjab, Delhi/UP, Rajasthan and Bihar. Delhi/UP and East Punjab went higher than what GADAR 2 did on Sunday and also markets like South and West Bengal were higher. Overall, it was a similar collections to GADAR 2 on Sunday. Despite a lower start, it caught GADAR 2 on the Sunday and now it remains to be seen how it compares from here.

GADAR 2 had a weekend of 132 crore nett and BORDER 2 is around 14 crore nett less. But the way business is today and how the accepted films hold, this can easily be covered in the long run. The business is fantastic in single screens and smaller centers but still its not at GADAR 2 level. Meanwhile, the trend in multiplexes suggest it has a shot at GADAR 2 levels here though it will be t he next few days which will tell. The film is looking to emerge a BLOCKBUSTER and the Tuesday collections should confirm that as the film has found appreciation.

BORDER 2 collected 118 crore nett over its first weekend which is the eighth highest opening weekend of all time for an original Hindi film. If we add the South dubbed films, then this position goes to number eleven. It is the highest opening for an original film since STREE 2 in August 2024 as it surpasses the figures of CHHAAVA, WAR 2 and DHURANDHAR which had the best weekends in 2025 with CHHAAVA going to 110 crore nett.

It is the fact that films like CHHAAVA and DHURANDHAR got to 500 crore nett and higher. It gives hope BORDER 2 can do a similar repeat or at least something close. The business has seen a big shift from initial to post weekend over the last year or so as the public really starts coming for films which have appreciation while there seems to be hesitation when not knowing if the film is good or bad. Basically films are now actually working after the first day which is the case with BORDER 2 also as first day was just good and probably more was expected. The plus was it had mass support to put up a good opening day. A film like DHURANDHAR did not and still, it went on to break all records.

There are only two pre pandemic releases in the top ten and they are SANJU and TIGER ZINDA HAI. JAWAN has the biggest weekend but ANIMAL is not far behind; the latter is one of those rare films which has totally organic collections. So, on fair value, it can be top.
