Dhurandhar’s demand leads to post-midnight shows in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad

DHURANDHAR took full benefit of the Christmas holiday as it collected a huge 25 crore nett taking its three week total to 600 crore net apprx. It is the first original film in Hindi to hit 600 crore nett. The only other film is PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE but that was a dubbed and not an original film. DHURANDHAR is on course to beat the collections pf PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE as well.

The third week is a huge 162.50 crore nett which beats the third week record of PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE by a crazy margin. The Allu Arjun-starrer had got 91 crore nett in its third week and here DHURANDHAR has done almost 80% more and there are no words can describe when a film beats records by such margins. PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE also holds the fourth week record also at around 50 crore nett and this will be a cakewalk for DHURANDHAR as well.

DHURANDHAR is a huge blockbuster and in 3 weeks its has covered 600 crore nett which is a first for an original Hindi film. Yet, the fourth Friday is important as there is another 135 crore nett to get to chase down PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and the bulk of that figure will have to be done this week as the film could see lower collections in the New Year as the holiday period ends.

DHURANDHAR continued to create history with a phenomenal fourth Friday of 14.50 crore nett which takes the total of the film to a huge 615 crore nett and also practically ensures that the PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE (Hindi) record of 735 crore nett plus will be broken though in how many circuits will be a different matter.

The fourth week has the potential to do 100 crore nett as its a holiday week and collections are likely to take an upturn at the end of the week. The highest fourth week ever is PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE at around 50 crore nett and the way DHURANDHAR is going, it seems that this 50 crore nett is going to be more than covered in the fourth weekend itself.

The film should also show in the industry that low price ticketing, free tickets and offers are not needed when the audience really wants to see a film. In recent times, when records are being chased, these offers and free tickets come into play and things are manufactured to reach certain benchmarks. But the makers have not done anything like that till now and generally kept pricing at a high level and let the film do the talking at the box office.

DHURANDHAR hit its first time all time record as it became the the highest grossing film ever in East Punjab edging past the collections of PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE. There will be some other circuits to come also with Delhi/UP looking like the next candidate over the next few days. The film became the sixth film to cross 50 crore nett in East Punjab.

The difference is that DHURANDHAR will not be just stopping at 50 crore nett plus as its likely to go on to do around 70 crore nett plus and maybe even 75 crore nett. A Pakistan set film always has good chances in the border state and its proved to be the case as East Punjab alongside Delhi/UP will be the best circuits for the film.

The film has traditionally been a circuit where its always big star led films which get the big numbers while others tended to under perform but this has all changed with the likes DHURANDHAR, BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and even STREE 2 among the top films. The circuit is completed multiplex dominated today which gives a more level footing to films without big stars. Stardom levels have been coming down over the last 30 years and are probably at lowest point ever today.
