Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, which has released today on Netflix, rests on a very shocking story. We have seen murder mysteries where usually one murder takes place at a time. Here, most of the family members are eliminated together. Hence, one can't help but get involved in the goings-on. The bond shared by the cop and the forensic doctor is lovely and also stands out. The suspense is unpredictable. Sadly, the writing and direction are not up to the mark. The members of the family are not properly introduced. A crucial angle in the second half is not properly depicted, which is shocking, since it's a crucial part of the goings-on. It is shown in an unhurried manner, while the suspenseful revelation happens all of a sudden. Also, there's no recall value for the first part, but the makers assume that we all remember it. This also goes against the film, especially in the mother-son scenes. Nawazuddin Siddiqui puts his best foot forward, as always. Chitrangda Singh adds to the mystery and intrigue with her lovely performance. Deepti Naval has a superb look and performance-wise, she’s first-rate. Sadly, the makers don't do much with this character. Revathy (Dr Panicker) is terrific and plays a very well fleshed-out character. Rajat Kapoor (DGP Sameer Verma), Priyanka Setia (Nisha), Akhilendra Mishra (S P Chauhan; cop) and Rahaao Bali (Om Prakash; guard) do very well in supporting roles. Sanjay Kapoor and Radhika Apte are great in special appearances. From the Bansal family, only Delzad Hiwale (Aarav) stands out. All in all, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders is an average flick, just like the first part.
