(Crisp) Movie Review: JATADHARA by FENIL SETA

Jatadhara is a bhel puri of Kantara, Baahubali, Akhanda and a few more films. To give credit where it's due, the basic plot is promising. Also, the protagonist is cool - he's a ghost hunter who doesn't believe in ghosts. However, the minuses outweigh the plusses. The film is excessively loud and unintentionally funny. The editing is disjointed and the use of AI is very tacky. Due to poor execution, even the actors look like caricatures. For instance, Sonakshi Sinha plays the evil part as per the requirement but due to overall handling of the subject, she is also reduced to a caricature. Imagine Bhool Bhulaiyaa's Manjulika not being directed well; in such a scenario, that character would have never had that impact. The same applies to Shilpa Shirodkar; she goes overboard. Sudheer Babu, however, is appropriate. Divya Khossla lends able support. Pradeep Rawat (Tantrik) is unrecognizable and stands out. Another actor who leaves a mark is Subhalekha Sudhakar (Neelkanth Shastri). Manish Sharma (Avasarala Srinivas), Naveen Neni (Rajesh; friend), Indira Krishna (Devi), Ravi Prakash (Vasu), Rohit Pathak (Balraj) and others are decent. All in all, Jatadhara is avoidable.
