My daughter was asked for nude photos: Akshay Kumar on the dark side of the internet

HINDUSTAN TIMES (October 4, 2025)

Akshay Kumar on Friday shared a disturbing real-life incident involving his 13-year-old daughter, Nitara, to highlight the growing threat of cybercrime targetting children. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai, the actor recalled how Nitara was approached by a stranger while playing an online game.

“I want to share about a small incident that happened at my house a few months back. While playing an online game, my daughter received a message from a stranger who asked, ‘Are you male or female?’ When Nitara responded, he sent another message: ‘Can you send me nude pictures of yours?’ She switched off everything and told my wife (author Twinkle Khanna),” the 58-year-old said.

Akshay emphasised that this is how serious cybercrimes often begin, urging parents and authorities to remain vigilant. “I would request the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to introduce a weekly ‘cyber period’, so that children can be educated on such threats. As you all know, cyber crime is now becoming bigger than street crime and it’s important to stop it,” he said.

He also appealed to the government to include cyber education as a subject for school students (from grades VII-X), so they can stay safe and informed in the fast-changing digital space.
