The Japanese anime film, DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA – THE MOVIE: INFINITY CASTLE, won the race at the box office at the box office as it collected in double digits and collections could end up in the 11 crore nett plus range. There have been a couple of these type of films to do well before as they have a very loyal following and that following is turning up to the cinemas.

The other films were not at this level as the opening here is extraordinary and is already the highest collecting film in its zone as the likes of JUJUTSU KAISEN 0, SUZUME, SHIN CHAN: OUR DINOUSAUR DIARY etc. would have not reached 10 crore nett. There is a limited audience though which more and more of is turning up in cinemas. So, its unlikely to hold for long but the job is more than done over the weekend.

There were many Hindi releases and they could not do much with the now regular pushing going on with some of them. Due to the Japanese films and the feeding with others, its actually turned out a good Friday for the exhibitors. The South dubbed film MIRAI is the only one which may have some scope but a lot depends on the growth over the weekend and then the Monday if it is to get some sort of run.

The collections of BAAGHI 4 were down as it collected in the 1 crore nett range but now its not numbers for the film but they are real collections. Its a film gone wrong badly and even some fair music could not save it.

DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA – THE MOVIE: INFINITY CASTLE, the Japanese anime film scored an outstanding first weekend with collections around the 37 crore nett. The film started with a solid 11 crore nett plus number on day one. The weekend saw a good trajectory as Saturday went to 12.75 crore nett and Sunday was 13 crore nett plus.

The film had huge advances for all of three days as which means there is a segment out there which has a huge craze for the film. It will not be that regular cinems audience but a segment of the youth that came out in numbers for the film. There have been others Japanese anime films which have done well but not to this level. Those petered out after strong initials, not because of appreciation but because the following is limited and run initially.

It could be a similar story here but the job is done and 37 crore nett itself is a huge collection.
