Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale moves at an unhurried pace. The world depicted is fascinating and this time, there's a scandal that adds to the madness. Sadly, after a tense start, things get very convenient. A plot like this had the scope for a lot of drama and confrontation. But the issues get resolved easily. Moreover, the last film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, had much more to offer in terms of story and in this regard, this film falls a bit short. However, the finale is moving. Michelle Dockery (Mary), this time, has arguably the longest screen time and she owns the part. Hugh Bonneville (Robert) yet again impresses with his performance. Alessandro Nivola (Gus Sambrook) and Paul Giamatti (Harold) leave a mark, while Dominic West (Guy Dexter) is charming. Laura Carmichael (Edith), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates), Jim Carter (Charles), Sophie McShera (Daisy Parker), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora) etc. deliver top-notch performances. All in all, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is a decent fare and a must-watch for the fans of the series.
