JAAT has done decent business on day one as it collects 9 crore nett though some pockets have actually done very good business. Rajasthan is actually outstanding as it collects 1 crore nett and Haryana and UP are also fantastic but these areas are a part of East Punjab and Delhi/UP circuits and Punjab (political) and Delhi NCR are very average. Hence, the overall circuit totals are not as high as they could have been.

Still its good total in Delhi/UP and East Punjab but its Rajasthan which leads for the film. CI and Bihar are also decent but could have been better. Basically the Jaat belt is strong but rest of the country has seen average to low collections. The film should have pushed to 10 crore nett on day one but Mumbai circuit is the let down as both Maharashtra and Gujarat saw dull collections.

The name of the film has probably helped the film in Rajasthan, UP and Haryana while it could be the opposite in places like Maharashtra and Gujarat especially the former as the film has a Telugu feel about it and normally these types do well in Maharashtra. Overall, its a pretty good first day number for the film especially as advances opened very late and when they did open, there was not much response. Thankfully, in current, the film managed to find an audience.

The key areas for the film are Punjab (political), Maharashtra and Gujarat and if these can improve well over the weekend, the film can run well as it will need a little support than the pockets that have done well on the first day.

The opening day is a plus for Sunny Deol as after more than forty years in the industry as male lead, there is still an audience out there for his films and the film is totally driven by Sunny Deol with no heroine or music. The other heroes, who came at the same time, are nowhere to be seen as male leads, forget about getting numbers.

There are the Rajnikantj's and Chiranjeevi's in the South who are able to drive films as male leads at an age but it has never happened in Hindi cinema before this as its much harder because you are not catering to just one state. There was the great Dilip Kumar but he was driving films as the main character with younger leads for support at an older age.

It can be said this was proved with GADAR 2 but that was a franchise of a much loved film which got the audience out. Here with JAAT, it is a credit to the pull of Sunny Deol even today.
