Babil entered the Hindi film industry as an excited newcomer, but four years down the line, the actor has experienced a drastic shift in his persona. During the recent promotions of his film Logout, Babil was seen with a more serious outlook.

Ask him how this shift happened and he shares, “I saw an interview of (actor) Ranbir Kapoor, where he was wearing a T-shirt printed with the words, ‘Authenticity is transient’. I related to that so much.”

The 25-year-old elaborates, “With the limelight on us, it’s easy to get stuck to an image. But, beyond that, I am a human being, and I will change as a person. Every day, my truth will change and evolve. Four years from now, I will probably not be the same and I don’t know what I’ll be. But that’s the point, not knowing where you’re going but just to try.”

Reflecting on how the industry has played a part in this change, he shares, “I came with my heart and arms open, but the industry broke me as a person. It hurt me a lot. I dealt with a lot of pain and anxiety.”

However, he says that the harsh experiences made him a better person: “Everything that’s happening to you is happening to help you evolve. The more you ask ‘why me’, it stops you from growing as a person.”
