The internet is abuzz ever since the reports of producer Ektaa R Kapoor rebooting her iconic TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, came to light. And now, a new update has further increased the intrigue, as Ektaa has hinted that actor-politician Smriti Irani might reprise her role as Tulsi Virani in the show.

“We are bringing politics into entertainment, or better, a politician into entertainment,” Ektaa said when prodded about the actor’s name playing Tulsi’s character at the recent India Global Forum event. The ‘politics’ connect hints that she might’ve been talking about Smriti, who became a member of the Parliament post her acting career.

Earlier reports stated that the series will feature the original cast, including actor Amar Upadhyay and Smriti, reprise their roles as Mihir Virani and Tulsi, respectively. However, our sources confirmed that the makers are in talks with multiple actors, including Amar, Cezzane Khan and Ronit Roy to play Mihir.

Divulging more details, Ektaa also said that the reboot would be 150-episodes long: “The original show ended in 2008, when it was just 150 episodes short of touching 2000. So, this time around, we have decided to make it a 150-episode series. Kyunki... deserves that.”
