Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday criticized the Mahayuti govt over the special screening for legislators of the film ‘Chhaava' based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While he welcomed the move, he said "traitors" should be shown this movie as well as others based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, referring to those Sainiks who broke away and joined Eknath Shinde.
"...[Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj said] he would not change his religion or bow down even if it came at the cost of his life. The film should be shown to the traitors who ran away as they got scared of I-T, ED and CBI," he said.
Earlier in the day, the two Sena factions engaged in a spat in the assembly. Targeting Sena's water resources minister Gulabrao Patil, Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray said, "If you ask anything, the minister immediately points fingers at the central govt. The question is whether the minister is aware of his department and understands it or not."
In response, Patil pointed out that Uddhav, Aaditya's father, had entrusted him with the same ministry during the MVA's tenure.
