Bhumi Pednekar enjoys doing movies with another strong female character, as she feels girls ‘understand and root for each other’

Bhumi Pednekar’s latest film, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, released last month and it failed to rake in the moolah at the box office. However, the actor is satisfied with the project, as she says, “As long as somebody finds something to connect with the film, I am okay with it. We wanted to make a fun popcorn watcher, so if it is successful in doing that, it’s enough. I really hope that the time of word-of-mouth films doesn’t go away. If that didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have been here.”
Like Bala (2019), Saand Ki Aankh (2019), Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) and Govinda Naam Mera (2022), Mere Husband Ki Biwi, too, is a two-heroine film, co-starring Rakul Preet Singhs.
Sharing how she enjoys being a part of such projects rather than feeling insecure, Bhumi says, “I am a very secure actor. A lot of times, the length of a female actor’s role takes a hit due to a male actor’s part, so it’s unfair to do the same to another female actor in a two-heroine film. Ultimately, these are all characters. I had so much fun working on films with another strong female character, because as girls, we understand and always root for each other. I have done a Saand Ki Aankh with Taapsee (Pannu, actor), which is one of my most cherished works.”
Bhumi insists that for her, a good story is all that matters. “I will never leave a film because the other female part is better. Aap mujhe chaar scene bhi doge toh I will do my best. In that story, if there are 10 protagonists or just me, it doesn’t make a difference. Like in Bala, I feel Yami (Gautam Dhar, actor) killed it, and a very good reason why I did Bala was because the other girl’s part was written so well,” she ends.
